Scott King[edit]

I know you meant well; the deletion discussion is not intended as an attack on you - but if Scott King is not notable, he's not notable, and that's all there is to it.

You'll notice that the Puppet Master X: Axis Rising page is already marked as uncited and facing possible deletion for non-notability. Conversely Plan 9 from Outer Space is clearly notable; it's been the subject of a great deal of independent coverage.

I suggest reading up on the notability guidelines for movies and actors, and more generally on what is considered to be a good reference. In particular there is a very clear need for good references on biographies of living people, and very strict rules about what can go in such a biography. Oh, and in future I strongly recommend going through Wikipedia:Article wizard. This puts new articles through the Articles for Creation process - an article can be improved there when it would be deleted in main article space - and gives help with the sort of things that tripped you up. Ordinarily new users can't create articles directly, and I'm not sure how you weren't directed to the Wizard. Pinkbeast (talk) 19:58, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Pinkbeast I appreciate the feedback. The Puppet Master Film series is very well known in the horror genre. Puppet Master was a huge theatrical hit in the 1990's. Puppet Master X: Axis Rising is the 10th in the series and Charles Band directed it himself according to websites, which was a labor of love for him supposedly. Thanks again. Still learning. There are two difficulties here. One is that everything is very well known to someone. This is why an article's references must evidence its notability; it's not enough that it _is_ well known, the references must show that it is. The second is that notability is not infectious; the tenth sequel to a notable movie is not notable just because the first one was.
Of course, awfulness is not evidence of non-notability. Manos, the Hands of Fate is notable. :-) Pinkbeast (talk) 23:09, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Editing and Categories[edit]

Hello Cinemasecrets, my name is Howicus. I noticed that in several of your edits you seem to have accidentally added categories instead of adding to the article. I think I know what you're doing: you probably saw the little (+) at the bottom of the article and clicked on that, right? See, that plus sign is used to add Categories, not for editing the text of a page. If you want to edit the text of an article, or contribute to a discussion on a talk page or elsewhere, just click the "edit" tab at the top of the page. Hope this helps! Scott King (image thereof)[edit]

I notice you've uploaded a fresh image to the article, marked "IMDB with permission". Do you actually have permission for anyone, anywhere in the world, to use that photo for any purpose? Where is the permission? Pinkbeast (talk) 11:46, 4 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Pinkbeast, I read the instructions and emailed Scott King's agent she forwarded me his email. I sent him the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 and he emailed the permissions for a photo that was taken at the Puppet Master premier. He CC'd me which I didn't ask for but it let me know that he had sent in the form. I noticed that the URL went to his publicity FB page so I again emailed him to resend it with a link to the photo on IMDB. I immediately then placed the photo on Commons and linked to the article. I had him email the slip to the permissions-commons@wikimedia.org email that was on the form. I hope I had that right because I involved him. There are now two versions of the contract at WC which show both links I believe. Thank you for your help so far as I am getting my feet wet daily. Cinemasecrets (talk) 8:49, 4 June 2013
