Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Information icon Hello, I'm Jeraxmoira. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Brendan Bellomo, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Jeraxmoira🐉 (talk) 04:53, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there Jeraxmoira, thank you kindly for your message. Appologies that the sources had not been added to the page yet, I was still working on the update. I have now added numerous sources throughout and published the page. I will make sure to cite references as I go next time. Thank you very much for the detailed and helpful message. Cinematracker (talk) 06:15, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Stop making large changes in a single edit. Please note that:
  • The official website goes in the infobox, so don’t remove it.
  • The film’s website is irrelevant to Brendan Bellomo’s article, so don’t add it to the external links.
  • Hyperlinking text to external websites is not allowed unless necessary(which is very rare).
  • IMDb is not a reliable source as it is a user-contributed database.
Jeraxmoira🐉 (talk) 06:39, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for these tips. Brendan Bellomo's current wikipedia page has a number of inaccuracies, so we are trying to update it to the correct information. We will make another attempt to update correctly, piece by piece in multiple edits, following those guidelines you sent and citing as we go. Cinematracker (talk) 07:03, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Who are we that you have mentioned? Do you know him personally? Jeraxmoira🐉 (talk) 07:36, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am a production coordinator that works with Brendan. A while back he noticed that there were inaccuracies on his page, so I am attempting to update it for him based on multiple reputable online sources. I regognize there is a certain protocol for updating incrementally, and adding citations in a particular way, and will try my best to follow the wikipedia standards as I am learning. Please let me know the best way to do this. Cinematracker (talk) 08:00, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Brendan Bellomo does not get to decide what goes or does not go in his article. The information/claim needs to be published in reliable and published third-party sources to be added to his article. The filmography table that you removed was sourced.
I advise you not to edit the article directly but to make edit requests in the talk page. The same policies apply for Porcelain War and Slava Leontyev as you seem to have a conflict of interest. More information on paid editing can be found in the warning given below. Jeraxmoira🐉 (talk) 08:08, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Brendan did not ask me to change anything. I thought I was being nice by updating his page for him. I do not have a conflict of interest and all information that I have added to the pages is substantiated elsewhere widely on the internet. I do not have to continue editing his or any page. Additionally I just checked and see that other films from this year's Sundance are being updated by the actual directors, which I am not doing.
As I mentioned, I tried to add a cite source that Brendan was the Executive Producer on CHUPA for Netflix but you rejected this edit so I am not sure exactly why you are saying that the Filmography was sited properly - it is not. Please see here: Chupa (film)
Also so I understand - is this the talk page? Cinematracker (talk) 08:23, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Editors involved in content disputes or edit wars should focus on resolving the dispute, rather than preserving the stable version, and the decision to temporarily preserve the stable version for the purposes of deescalating a dispute may only be made by an uninvolved administrator.
Editors who attempt to enforce a stable version may be blocked from editing without warning. Cinematracker (talk) 10:40, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
According to the guideline I just shared with you, please undo your enforcement of the stable version. It is not appropriate. The infomation I added to the pages was very well cited. Please verify those citations. Cinematracker (talk) 10:45, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No one is going to be blocked here, and to clarify, we do not have a content dispute. Brendan need not ask you directly or indirectly for a COI to exist, which you would have known if you had taken the time to read the first paragraph of the Wikipedia:Conflict of interest guideline.
Conflict of interest (COI) editing involves contributing to Wikipedia about yourself, family, friends, clients, employers, or your financial and other relationships. Any external relationship can trigger a conflict of interest. Someone having a conflict of interest is a description of a situation, not a judgment about that person's opinions, integrity, or good faith. - You are contributing about your colleague/employer, which implies there is a COI. Adding to that, you may receive compensation for your edits through money, favors or recommendations, which falls under paid editing.
I see that you have yet to disclose your paid editing which may get you blocked after three warnings, so please disclose it in your userpage. Can you also mention which other film is being edited by their respective film crew? The policy applies to all. Jeraxmoira🐉 (talk) 13:32, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did at Brendan Bellomo, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use your sandbox for that. The filmography table was sourced. Do not remove sourced content Jeraxmoira🐉 (talk) 07:38, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon

Hello Cinematracker. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Brendan Bellomo, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being employed (or being compensated in any way) by a person, group, company or organization to promote their interests. Paid advocacy on Wikipedia must be disclosed even if you have not specifically been asked to edit Wikipedia. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Cinematracker. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Cinematracker|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Jeraxmoira🐉 (talk) 08:03, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I am not being compensated for my edits in any way. Cinematracker (talk) 08:07, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
For clarification, I am not employed. I collaborate with Brendan and am happy to let you know here what the inaccuracies are, if you prefer. For instance I wanted to add under Filmography that Brendan was the Executive Producer on CHUPA (Netflix) but I was not able to. I cited this edit. Cinematracker (talk) 08:12, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please disclose the Conflict of interest in your userpage and follow the Edit Request Wizard, which will guide you through the process of making the edit request. Jeraxmoira🐉 (talk) 08:21, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I just submitted a request through edit request wizard. Cinematracker (talk) 08:42, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Other editors who patrol COI edit requests will now eventually accept or decline your edit based on the sourced cited. Jeraxmoira🐉 (talk) 13:19, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
