Hi, I noticed you have recently created the articles English football (Tier one), English football (Tier three) and English football league structure (simplified). Much of this information is already present at List of winners of English Premiership and predecessors, List of winners of English Football League One and predecessors and English football league system, perhaps the new articles should be merged there.
Oldelpaso 21:47, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In the case of the top division, I don't think listing 3rd place is necessary, as its not that much of an achievement and full tables are already present at Season in English football e.g. 1888-89 in English football, which also renders the "Participants" column redundant. Changes to the number of clubs are explained at The Football League. Therefore I think the best way forward is to add the runners-up to List of winners of English Premiership and predecessors, and add relevant "See also" links. For other divisions the promotion issue makes it less straightforward - I'll have to have a think about this. Remember to put the historically accurate name when listing teams, for example Sheffield Wednesday were known as "The Wednesday" when they first won the league.
Oldelpaso 19:07, 10 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have now merged most of English football (Tier one) into List of winners of English Premiership and predecessors, and I intend to turn the former into a redirect if there are no objections.

Interesting talk page concept. I noticed your request for Lincoln City 2005/06 Squadlist (Updated) to be deleted. If you are the only contributor to an article, you can put {{db-author}} at the top of the page, and an administrator will speedily delete it shortly afterward.

Infoboxes

[edit]

Thanks for your comment on my talk page. As a general rule, I am anti-infoboxes as they seem to me to break up the text of an article which is what I am generally there to read. However, I accept I am in a small minority on that. Therefore, my opinion is that they should be as consistent as possible, and also as short as possible - particularly in articles which do not have a great amount of text in the first place. Some of the extra fields you are adding such as place in the pyramid, promotion/relegation arrangements etc. are, in my opinion, best placed in templates at the bottom of the article (e.g. see Wessex League). I also feel that setting text sizes, either in pixels or points, within infoboxes (well anywhere on the entire internet actually) is wrong and contrary to all known accessibility guidelines. Perhaps your best bet would be to use the talk page at Template:Infobox football league or at Wikipedia:WikiProject Football to try to establish some sort of consensus. - fchd 05:31, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

To be honest you're probably better taking it directly to the Football Project talkpage to get a general consensus.... ChrisTheDude 11:07, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Lincoln City F.C. 2004/05, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. A tag has been placed on Template:Midlands Regional Premier requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

The article List of Lincoln City F.C. players has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

List has four players, which is about 1,000 short of its final target. Doesn't look likely to be completed any time soon, and if in the future someone wishes to recreate the article with a more complete list then as it stands this article will be of little use to them.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
