Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Ethnic groups in Indonesia, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use your sandbox for that. Thank you. - And, refer to your edit here, whereas you disagree with removal of that wording and your rationale is
RV removal of cited information. "Orang Melayu" is a widely used term
. I think that you misunderstood the difference between Malay race, Malay people and Orang Melayu. "Orang Melayu" or "Malay people" refer to the same thing. However, "Malay race" is not the same as both "Orang Melayu" or "Malay people". - Per description on Malay race:
Malay is a loose term used in the late 19th century and early 20th century to describe the Austronesian peoples.
, hence that term is an outdated terms to describe the Austronesian people. - Since "Austronesian people" is already mentioned in disputed sentence (
The vast majority of those belong to the Austronesian peoples (Malay race), with a large minority being Melanesians

- Hi. First of all, apologies for the edit summary. I typed "RC" meaning to type "RV", but hit 'Enter' instead of delete because I had to take a call at the same time, and then I got distracted by work. I'm sorry I wasted your time. my problem with your edit was with the deletion of cited information, but I'm quite happy to drop my objections as there are more important things in life and Wikipedia. - @Davidelit: No worries, I did tried to look up all 4 references on that sentence, and again couldn't find any word of "Malay race" on those references. So it's safe to assume that it's not a cited information. Anyway, thanks for your reply. Ckfasdf (talk) 07:12, 4 April 2023 (UTC)
- @Davidelit: The obsolete epithet was added in a WP:CUCKOO edit by an editor who has a track record of not caring much about sources actually say. I don't think we should edit war on his behalf. –Austronesier (talk) 08:16, 4 April 2023 (UTC)
