Username

Hey, it's not a very good idea for your user name to be the name of a famous person, unless that is really your name (even, then, better to use a middle initial if possible, etc.) Why don't you change it to your real name, or, if you're uncomfortable with that, some nondescript, ordinary-sounding name? If you are choosing a pseudonym, please do not use the names of famous people or fictional characters. An obscure literary reference is probably all right. As always, please avoid anything that could be considered offensive or inappropriate. Let me know if you have any questions. - Nat Krause 11:07, 6 October 2005 (UTC)

How to change your username.

Hi. This suggestion doesn't actually change my name. And while I agree that wikipedia discourages using another name, it does not prohibit this practice outright.

I will consider whether or not to get a new name. I don't really see much point in deleting the old one.

• • Actually, you can request a change of name (while preserving your edit history) at Wikipedia:Changing username. Only a bureaucrat can do this, but they usually will, and within a few days of the request at that. BD2412 T 15:29, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
