Gun laws in the United States (by state)[edit]

Greetings, Clarkbob. I notice that you have copied quite a bit of material from CarryConcealed.net into the article Gun laws in the United States (by state). I appreciate your efforts to improve the article by adding a lot of additional information, and properly citing the sources with embedded links. Certainly that article can use a lot of help. However, I think that copying text word for word from another site is not allowed on Wikipedia, except for brief passages that are used as quotations. Someone started a discussion about this on the discussion page for the article, at Talk:Gun laws in the United States (by state)#Material copied from CarryConcealed.net, and I've responded there to what they've said. I'm hoping that other editors also add their opinions there, since I'm not sure if your updates are okay or not. Feel free to read the discussion, and to join in if you want to. — Mudwater 16:10, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

From Clarkbob - Just trying to help the page as it needed help. I do not want to break any rules and I am a editor for Carryconcealed.net. I can be reached at anytime at Clark@carryconcealed.net. Thanks and please let me know as I would like to help, but also want to follow the rules. Thanks! Clark.

Thanks for the reply. If you look at that section of the user talk page (i.e. Talk:Gun laws in the United States (by state)#Material copied from CarryConcealed.net), you'll see that there have been a few replies to my post there. I was actually thinking that there would be more discussion about this than there has been. Feel free to chime in yourself, by the way. (The convention for talk pages (either article talk pages or user talk pages) is to sign your remarks with "~~~~", which is automatically changed to your user name and the time and date. If you go to Wikipedia:Tutorial, there's a tab called "Talk pages" that explains this.) Anyway, I'm not sure how to proceed with the article, which is why I started the discussion. At any rate, thanks for trying in good faith to improve the article. — Mudwater 01:16, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
