Per your comments on my talk page, the issue (from my persective, I'm not an expert here) has to do with the images all being tagged as creative commons license, but the images are also watermarked with a website address. When someone goes to that address, the page states, "© 2002 - 2007 copyright by Claudia Zaino - tutti i diritti riservati-all rights reserved" Given the copyright and rights reserved comments, it is very unlikely to be avaialable under a creative commons license. As I understand it, the creative commons license allows others to use the images as they want without restriction.

I am not sure I have explained it very well, but let me know.--User:Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr) 13:25, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am not sure I am the best person to provide guidance on this. I wuold suggest raising the issue on the talk page of either WP:PUI or WP:NONFREE. Another option is to add a {{helpme}} tag to your talk page and explain it there or go to the help desk at WP:HD. I think that last option may be the best. Thanks.--User:Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr) 13:53, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:My images on Wikipedia

[edit]

No problem! The code for that template here should be {{cc-by-nc}}, but unfortunately the English Wikipedia does not allow that license for various reasons. I think the closest acceptable thing to that license would be {{cc-by-sa}}, which applies a "share-alike" disclaimer to the standard license. If that's not what you'd like to use, try looking through our other free license tags. Sorry for the trouble. Hersfold (talk/work) 19:35, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In response to comment on my talk page:
Ok. There is a slight problem. After looking at those images, it looks like you have taken them from an Italian website, http://www.sacrodibirmania.com. You need to determine which license that website has issued their photos under and obtain permission to use them on the English Wikipedia. Permissions from another Wikipedia may not carry over to this one. Applying a license of your own without the owner's permission violates their copyright ownerships. I'm sorry for misunderstanding earlier, I thought these were pictures you had taken yourself.
You probably will want to review our official image use and copyright policies, as well as our steps to request permission for copyrighted images. From what you've said and what I can see there, I think the steps involved are similar to the Italian Wikipedia - we just have to repeat the process here so that the permission is on record for both languages.
I'm sorry I've confused things for you - unfortunately, copyrights are one of the most difficult things we have to deal with here. Hersfold (talk/work) 00:27, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
What follows is a basic translation of the above into Italian - I don't speak Italian myself, so this was translated on Babelfish. Please forgive any mistakes, but I hope this will aid your understanding.
Approvazione.
Hersfold (talk/work) 00:27, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
A similar page exists at WP:COPYREQ. If the site is your own, then this should be rather simple - we just need an email to confirm that claim. Send an email to "permissions-en@wikimedia.org" stating that you are the owner of the website and you are licensing the images under a cc-by-sa license. Once you do that, someone will add a tag to your images confirming that they are ok to use. When that happens, you should be able to reload the to the article. Let me know if there are still problems. :-) Hersfold (talk/work) 16:29, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
