Hello and welcome, I feel compelled to mention, I have edited your contributions to the James Krenov article and hope that you won't feel too terribly that I have simply hacked your hard work for no purpose. I am a professional woodworker who was influenced by A Cabinetmaker's Notebook when it first came out and continue to admire Krenov's work and writings thirty years later. As much as I have respected Jim and mourn his passing, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and it maintains several cardinal rules, one of which is "Neutral Point of View". Another requires proper citation of reliable sources. These standards must be maintained to achieve the veracity and manner of a proper encyclopedia. As such, Wikipedia is not a place for expressions of personal admiration or glowing opinions. (As true as you and I might agree them to be.) Clearly you have put good, sincere, and knowledgeable effort into your addition and I hope that you will continue to work on the article as the man certainly deserves to be known for ages to come and my edits do not, by any means, constitute a finished product.Aerolin55 (talk) 02:21, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

I am not an administrator here. I am but one of the many nobodies who collectively have built this encyclopedia. I am new to this, as well, and I have been amazed at the moral, ethical, and legal complexities which arise as I learn more about editing Wikipedia.

As I write these words I am reading two administrative notices on this page- "Content that violates any copyrights will be deleted." and "Encyclopedic content must be verifiable."

I had assumed you wrote the piece yourself and was impressed. If it was simply a copy of a newspaper obituary, then to contribute it without citation may be a copyright violation which could pose a legal threat to Wikipedia. As hokey as Wikipedia might seem at times and on certain levels, it is an endeavor which several hundred thousand editors worldwide take seriously. There are rules here about what Wikipedia is and what Wikipedia is not. -"Wikipedia is not a memorial site." (not my words) Editing is the heart and soul of this project and it is quite upfront about the fact that anyone may edit and anyone may be edited.

There are, at present, no inline citations to any source in any part of the James Krenov article. The article could be greatly improved using citations to Jim's own books and/or any other reliable sources. I have had such a project in mind but anyone might do it. And it is best done by people who care about the topic and know what they are talking about such as, you. I'm sorry if you thought this would be easier but I encourage you to get involved if only with this one article.
