Welcome![edit]

Some cookies to welcome you! :D
Welcome to Wikipedia, Clevac! I have been editing Wikipedia for quite some time. I just wanted to say hi and welcome you to Wikipedia! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page or by typing {{helpme}} at the bottom of this page. I love to help new users, so don't be afraid to leave a message! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Oh yeah, I almost forgot, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there. Again, welcome!

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:IAA LOGO.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:IAA LOGO.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 23:23, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Help Request[edit]

Moved from Talk:International Actuarial Association

User:Clevac {{helpme}} I am a staff member of the International Actuarial Association (see our staff page here: http://www.actuaries.org/index.cfm?LANG=EN&DSP=MENU&ACT=CONTACT - first letter of wikipedia username is the first letter of my first name, and the rest of my wikipedia username is the same as my last name). I uploaded our association's logo to my account and intended to place it on the association's wiki page. I'm sorry that I don't understand all of your policies regarding images. I have no idea how this works nor do I intend to read through the extremely long explanation and instructions of what kind of license is required to display our logo on our wikipedia page. If you cannot restablish the logo that I uploaded, then disregard it. This is too complicated!

Hi there! Welcome to wikipedia! I'm sorry that your image was deleted (it is a little complicated, this happens a lot to user's first images). If you still want to upload the image (and I strongly encourage you to do so). If the image you intend to upload is similar to this one, then the copyright tag you will want to use will be {{Non-free logo}}. Along with this you will need a fair-use rational template. I would suggest something along the lines of {{Non-free use rationale}}. To use this template you would paste something like the following below the copyright tag on the image page (after uploading it):
{{Non-free use rationale
| Description = Logo of the [[International Actuarial Association]]
| Source = [http://www.actuaries.org/ http://www.actuaries.org/]
| Article = International Actuarial Association
| Portion = Entire Logo
| Low_resolution = Yes
| Purpose = To illustrate the [[International Actuarial Association]]. Usage of the logo on wikipedia does not detract from the association's profits nor does it enable others to make false derivative works using the logo.
| Replaceability = No. Logo is unique to organization.
}}
Then, after you have finally finished uploading the image, you may add it to the article (general instructions can be found at Help:Image). I hope this has helped! Sorry if any of this is all to difficult or confusing. I have also left you a "welcome box" at the top of this page with some helpful links about wikipedia. If you have any other questions, feel free to post here or on my talk page. Happy editing! --omtay38 20:15, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages.
