Texan vs. Texian

[edit]

I reverted your edit on the Mexican-American War article. While modern-day residents of the US state of Texas are known as Texans, the term Texian specifically refers to Anglo-American residents of Texas while it was a Mexican state and a sovereign nation. Just thought you'd like to know the reason for my revert. --clpo13(talk) 06:56, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please remember to mark your edits, such as your recent edits to Watto, as minor if (and only if) they genuinely are minor edits (see Help:Minor edit). Marking a major change as a minor one is considered poor etiquette. The rule of thumb is that only an edit that consists solely of spelling corrections, formatting changes, or rearranging of text without modifying content should be flagged as a 'minor edit.' 12 Angry Men

[edit]

Noted your post on Sotomayor. While the NY jury instruction document is relevant, the anonymous poster attributed remarks to Sotomayor that weren't in the NY Times article - which is not to say she did not say them, just that we need a reference to it. It might be more relevant to post s separate section on how the 12 Angry jurors violated basic jury rules.--Klantry01 (talk) 21:16, 19 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Treehouse of Horror III, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Family Dog. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Vivienne Medrano, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page American. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that one or more recent edit(s) you made did not have an edit summary. You can use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or to provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances that your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits, an adequate summary may be quite brief.

The edit summary field looks like this:

Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Tick Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary, and then click the "Save" button. Slave vs. enslaved

[edit]

Here's one article about why to use "enslaved" vs. "slave" when describing a person. Slave is an outdated term and seems to describe at someone's core that they are a slave. Whereas "enslaved" is a condition which can be reversed / fixed. I hope that makes sense. There are other articles about the use of "enslaved" vs. "slave" that can be found by googling: "enslaved" vs. "slave", such as this Chicago Tribune column. "]" I hope this makes sense. I am fixing some of your recent edits. If you can help with any that I may miss, it's much appreciated.–CaroleHenson (talk) 22:29, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I came here to discuss some recent edits/reverts to John Wayles and agree with CaroleHenson. The term "slave" is considered pejorative and, frankly, is incorrect for modern usage, "enslaved" and its associated term "enslaved person/s" are more apt descriptors. - Shearonink (talk) 13:04, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
