New coffee article

[edit]

Please note than there a number of wikify issues of the new article - and one already exists - so the merge is most probable - however some issue must be noted before that happens

  • WP:CITE - we try to actually cite with ref - and per WP:MOS try to never put external links into text
  • Location names - we do not link titles of sections
  • Always use search and look carefully before creating new articles - duplicate articles are usually either merged or deleted
  • Templates - please do not re-arrange project templates unless you have been around for a while - new editors will in most cases be reverted
  • WP Indonesia - does not have an adequate agriculture section or component - it is one of the weaker sections of the project
  • external links - for the sake of external links are considered WP:SPAM - and usually have a short lifetime on wkipedia

Thanks for your agreeing about the merge - I havent found an as friendly new user on this project for ages! I would prefer to tinkle with wikify issues on your version first before trying the merge - and point taken about issues that need to resolve - thanks SatuSuro 13:12, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Specialty Coffee Association of Indonesia requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. triwbe (talk) 06:17, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedys I must warn you are a totally inconsistent device that catches some and loses others - and there is no need to panic if the self appointed lurkers find reason to do them in before you can scratch yourself - they have a double edged and complex role - to get rid of nonsense and also to be wary of new users - what a drag. Your would need to go hangon as requested as quick as possible then find WP:RS - the irony is that there are heaps of wikipedia arts that do not have a foot or leg to stand on and the workers of speedys never seem to know where they are :( - also after one day editing - the speedy taggers are usually inert to WP:DONTBITE and forget that you might not have a category or RS to hand - we might need to have off wiki conversation about this as I have battled over another indonesian article and I honestly couldnt be bothered to do so again within 24 hours SatuSuro 06:40, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Next thing - you dont need to sign on edit summaries - it wont show anyways - its when you leave something on a talk page - user or article that you need to do that

With a new section like that - that is an excellent opportunity to put a WP:CITE or WP:RS into the section and in some cases you will have to start a new section at bottom of the article with either 'References' or if there some - 'Notes' with the best template for refs which is the curly brackets with the word reflist inside. Doesnt matter if th rest of the article doesnt have anything resembling a cite anywhere- if you put it in for your bit - its a start - and for the Indonesian project - a great leap.

BTW Many speedy watchers may be on the lookout look for (a) no category (b) no refs (c) what they perceive as no WP:N (well worth a very close read) - for Indonesian project we have a large number of low level threshold of WP:N demands compared to other projects and parts of wikipedia - a place in itself can be sufficient (islands, towns, admin units etc) - but for an organisation it is always best to look at a passable article already existing in the project to make sure you have the same components - and if you tag for the project on the talk page and get a good category - that can at times be a good defence - fortunately most of the recent speedy work has been on the very dubious indonesian idol stubs with obvious non native speakers trying to get their english right and only poor indonesian language web based refs not applied properly - imho books and journal article properly cited are the best insurance - and I'd be prepared to argue in the face of any speedy who tried an Indonesian stub with good WP RS - also many are geographically challenged - so thats their problem not ours SatuSuro 08:16, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent

[edit]

Giling basah is clear of major interference hurdles - the thing is now to see what i did there - and try to replicate that on any other new arts - I havent had a chance to fully explore the whole coffee thing on wikipedia but it looks disorganised as I am - it seems to belong ot the food and drink mbo as the parent cat - if we get enough specific arts - we can create a coffee in indonesia sub category sometime - but we would need minimum specific about 10 to 20 arts to keep the xfd mob away from the cats - please feel free to qiz me on my acronyms - if you are in indonesia you are afloat in a sea of acrnyms anyways :) SatuSuro 06:24, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There is no need to try signing in edit summaries - it doesnt work :( SatuSuro 06:33, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
