Nonsense

Please do not put biased hogwash regarding a failing country. We are trying to steer clear of that nonsense in our English article.

No one really cares whether or not English is the de facto language or the official language of the United States of America. The fact of the matter is that it is the language of the country, and as such should be described in such a fashion. Tharthandorf Aquanashi (talk) 12:14, 8 December 2014 (UTC)

The entire article English language needs rewriting from top to bottom on the basis of reliable sources, Replaceinkcartridges, and I am glad you are willing to join the effort, but to say that the United States has no official language (a true statement) does not mean that it doesn't have a predominant language used by the great majority of inhabitants. (The United States does have a predominant language, and that language is English.) I found a statement to that effect in a link from the link you posted to the article. That statement can be found on the United States Census website.Language Use in the United States 2011 See you on the wiki. On Ross Perot's wikipedia page I changed best known to well known. I don't see why this was a problem. It is important to keep wikipedia unbiased by not using wording such as 'best-known'. Ross Perot has done many notable things such as founding Electronic Data Systems and being a Vietnam POW.

Ross Perot is not inherently 'best known' for one thing. He is 'well-known' for many things, so to say one of his accomplishments is most important by using 'best known' is biased.

Because this is all rather petty, i'm not going to change the page again. A pointless edit war will be useless.

It would, indeed, end up as a WP:BOOMERANG for you (and probably for me, too). Wikipedia is written for the Anglophone world and should not be Americentric. Please read the essay on WP:WORLDVIEW. You may know him for other things, but in other parts of the world he is exclusively known for his political foray. Again, I see how we are not going to agree on this. Ross Perot has done many notable things in his life, to say only one is 'best known' or important is biased. Saying that all of his achievements besides presidential candidacy are Americentric is a contradiction. I'd argue that American presidential candidacy mainly affects America. Making an influencial computer company however, can affect the whole world. I also don't think many Australians care about a presidential candidate that went against Bill Clinton in 1990. So saying 'best known' is simply an opinion piece.

Anyway, nice to meet you to. Arguing over this will accomplish nothing.
