French and German Immigration to Puerto Rico

[edit]

Thank you for your positive contributions to both of these articles which I wrote. After verifing the orgins of the names that you added to the "Common German surnames in Puerto Rico" section, I found out that you were right in some cases. Those surnames will remain in that section. However, the following surnames will be removed because they are not German surnames, these are the following.

"Baldrich"-English origin; "Christian"-Scottish origin; "Lage"-Dutch origin; "Michaelson"-English, Norwegian origin; "Thorsen"-Swedish origin and "Vans Derby"-Dutch origin.

You can use the following site to help you determine the origin of a name:[1]

Take care and if I can be of any assistence in the future, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me in my talk page. Tony the Marine 21:20, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Spanish immigration

[edit]

Thank you for your kind words in regard to the immigartion articles. I totally agree with you, there is a need for an article about the Spanish immigration to the island. Especially since the Spaniards that immigrated to Puerto Rico with the intention of making the island their homeland arrived from different regions of Spain, such as Mallorca, the Canary Islands and so on. In the past I have suggested the project to others, but no one has made an atempt. Right now I'm working on a project with which I will attempt to do justice to all those Hispanics who have contributed to the war effort during WW II and which filmmaker Ken Burns had omitted from his documentary "The War" which will be aired on PBS on September. As soon as I'm done then I will work on the Spanish immigration. Gracias mi hermano. Don't forget to sign your comments on my talk page with a "~~~~" so that I will know who's writing. Ada Perkins

[edit]

My old friend Crcam, man, I haven't written you since June. O.K., as you know I wrote the article on Ada. She was one of my favorute Miss Puerto Rico. The thing is this, the majority of the search's identify her as "Flores Perkins". It does make sense since she did participate in the Miss Universe contest as "Perkins" and not "Flores". Tony the Marine (talk) 02:42, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'll make the fixes, there was so little info on her, but now we'll get the story straight. So you are related to Carlos Rieckehoff, the great Nationalist leader? That is amazing because I have been thinking about writing an article about him for some time. About the Spanish immigration to PR, we will have to get sources in regard to the main regions of Spain that they came from to see how we can work it out. Tony the Marine (talk) 04:15, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • The problem was that since the photo is copyrighted and not public domain, it can not be used on articles that are not specific about her. They wanted to delete it altogether and then that is when I went and gathered bits and pieces that I found on Ada an wrote an article of her. I didn't want the image of my favorite Miss PR deleted, and the only way that you can have a coyrighted image of a person is if that person is no longer alive and has an article so, I beat them to the punch. Who knows amybe I'll be the one to write your article. I truely hope that you do well in Hollywood. Tony the Marine (talk) 05:02, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ada Perkins Pt2

[edit]

That's great about the other image of Ada. Upload it to Wiki and put the following "License": {{self2|GFDL-with-disclaimers|cc-by-sa-2.5,2.0,1.0}}, that should cover it. In regard to Estela Cifre de Loubriel works, I must admit that I am not familiar with them. Tony the Marine (talk) 19:13, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'll check it out later (demographics of PR). Right now, I'm going to have to sign off (got to go to pick up some Pizza's). See you later. Tony the Marine (talk) 19:48, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ada Perkins

[edit]

I think that you once told me about her father, I'm not sure. I would like it very much if you provided me with the website, I could expand her article. Hey, I wrote Carlos Rieckehoff's bio., did you see it? Tony the Marine (talk) 05:12, 31 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Spanish immigration article

[edit]

Hi yeah, i thought that it needed to be started even if it was just a basic start, since its the most obvious immigration to Puerto Rico i was like, thats weird!..., since i saw no attempt at it for about the last 2 years or when the other immigration articles were written...anyhow, you can do whatever you like, you can just write what you want in the article and someone will eventually correct any spelling and grammer anyway...or just post it on my talk page or your talk page..either one is ok...good to see you have an interest atleast...haha...so you have references from books or webpages?.ive done some searching on the web but without much luck in spanish immigration detail...from regions etc..and immigration statistics are hard to come by i think...by the way.im actually not Puerto rican, although i researched ironically a distant possible relative from spain that immigrated to the island in the late 1870's from a village about 15mins from where my grandfathers relatives came from, with the same surname which isnt popular at all, from Zamora region but hasnt althoug very likly nother has come of it yet, I got interested in Puerto Rico awhile back..and i havent visited either but am considering it.although n hear it not that cheap to get by but the euro is better than the US dollar alittle....you are from Puerto Rico and live there?...regards..(talk) 06:07, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again, Just so it makes it easier to reply on just one page just do all the discussion on my talk page?..yeah,,saves jumping around. (talk) 06:07, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Ada Perkins

[edit]

Hey thank you for the message. Merry Christmas to you too. We spent it real well with the whole family. You see, my oldest son lives with my wife and I, plus my daughter, her husband and my granddaughter Nina and grandson John Anthony live in the house next door. My other son, his wife and my other granddaughter live next door also, therefore we are always together. About the Ada Perkins photo, the deletionists deleted the image because they were requesting that the copyright holder give permission for it's usage. They claimed that it wasn't in public domain. It can't be used unless let's say someone like you claims to be the copyright holder and then uploads it. Let's keep in touch. Tony the Marine (talk) 06:58, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • You have no idea, the struggle I put up to defend the image from deletion, but to no avail. I checked the "Flickr" images and on the page it sayd "Copyright Reserved", can't use those. However, if you find out more information as to when the image can out in "Angela Luisa" and in what issue then I think that we can do something about it. Thank you

To all my friends in Wikipedia. After so many years I have decided to take an extended leave from the project. My continued participation in the project has become less enjoyable as I have explained here. I thank God that I became involved in the project in the first place because not only have I used it to educate others, but I have also learned a lot from friends such as yourself. Try to maintain a high standard in your contributions and make sure that the truth is always told in what you write. I would like to wish you all a Happy New Year, may God Bless you and thank you for your friendship. Tony the Marine (talk) 02:47, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
