Talk:Warm front

[edit]

Hi Crosstan, I noticed that you editorially cleaned up the comments of others at Talk:Warm front. You may not be familiar with WP:TALKDD (Wikipedia:Talk dos and don'ts); we don't edit other people's comments; we do sign our own with ~~~~. Thanks for your edits in WP! Signing your posts on talk pages

[edit]

Hi Crosstan! Thanks for contacting me. Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages with ~~~~. You can click on the blue link at the bottom of the edit window, which will add those characters, automatically.

As to editing templates, one edits them in the same manner as other pages, using the "Edit source" tab. First you have to find the template. Each is under Template:Nameoftemplate. If you're make a substantive change, it's a good idea to discuss what you intend on the template's talk page!

I'll monitor, here, for any reply. remember to indent your reply with a colon (:)!

Added thought: I now understand that you're trying to change the rating of an article. You probably need to "Edit source" for that. Give it a try! HopsonRoad (talk) 15:17, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I can't find (Template:Nameoftemplate): I can't find that name of template thing you were talking about. How do I find it?Crosstan (talk) 16:18, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
"Nameoftemplate" was just a stand-in, e.g. in Template:Multiple image Nameoftemplate = Multiple image! (Note that I used two colons to indent my response. You can use ::: in your next response!) Cheers, HopsonRoad (talk) 17:28, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
But I don't find anything when I edit. Maybe it's a good idea to check the article and press edit source yourself. You could also insert an image that shows where it is(BTW the article is [1])Crosstan (talk) 17:55, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Tutorial

[edit]

Crosstan, you may wish to explore the following tutorial, before getting in too deep: Help:Introduction. Cheers, HopsonRoad (talk) 21:38, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I already saw that tutorial before.):Crosstan (talk) 22:17, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Are you allowed to tell your friend(s) to do research for you

[edit]

Because I'm trying to make my first article and it seems everything that not only my friends and family know is already written. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Crosstan (talkcontribs)

Hi Crosstan, it doesn't matter who assembles the researched material in the background. It's only important that, when you enter it into an article (either new or existing), it be properly referenced with a reliable source, as described at Wikipedia:Reliable sources. WikiProject Weather: Map Dot & Template/Infobox Colors

[edit]

Dear project member, This message is being sent out to encourage new ideas and feedback on those proposed in regard to the colors debate for WikiProject Weather. For those who are unaware of what's been happening over the last year, I will give a brief summary. We have been discussing proposed changes to the colors of the dots on tropical cyclone maps and templates and infoboxes across the entire weather project in order to solve issues related to the limited contrast between colors for both normal vision as well as the various types of color blindness (MOS:ACCESS). We had partially implemented a proposal earlier this year, however, it was objected to by a number of people and additional issues were presented that made it evident this wasn't the optimal solution. We tried to come up with other solutions to address the issues related to color contrast, however, none of them gained traction and no consensus was generated.

We need your help and I encourage you to propose your own scale and give feedback on those already listed. Keep in mind that we are NOT making a decision on any individual proposal at this time. We are simply allowing people to make proposals and cultivate them given feedback from other project members. Please visit our project page for additional details. The proposal phase will close no later than December 31st at 23:59 UTC. NoahTalk 02:43, 21 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
