File permission problem with File:Dr.PerryRosenthal.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Dr.PerryRosenthal.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. QuiteUnusual (talk) 13:05, 10 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed! Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by DGG was:

{{divbox|red>This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established.

In particular, this is essentially an advertisement for his theory. It's usually not a great idea to go to the trouble of giving permission for copying a persons website , because what makes a good personal website or press release rarely makes a good WP article. If his theory is to be discussed here, there must be references providing substantial coverage from third-party independent reliable sources about it that show its importance. For a medical topic this usually requires sources of quality that meets WP:MEDRS. There are no such sources present here. There is presently no evidence for meeting either the WP:PROF or the WP:GNG standard. Please do not resubmit until you havethe necessary 3rd party references

Conflict of Interest? Paid Editing?

[edit]

There has been a rash of articles in the area of ophthalmology that appear to be the result of paid editing. Paid editing is a very delicate point here, and anyone engaging in paid editing needs to make a clear declaration of their position and follow the policies at Conflict of Interest. Not doing so can result in the account being blocked and articles being deleted. Because of the particular content of this article, I ask you to answer these questions: Are you being paid to create this article? Do you have a conflict of interest (as per wp:coi)? Thanks. We need to clear this up before continuing. LaMona (talk) 17:24, 2 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi LaMona, In response to your questions: “Are you being paid to create this article? Do you have a conflict of interest (as per wp:coi)?” I am employed by a firm that has done professional writing for Dr. Rosenthal relating to an array of projects. As part of this work we did prepare this Wikipedia entry highlighting his career as an eye surgeon, including his development of theories regarding dry-eye disease. Dr. Rosenthal has reviewed and approved all drafts. I am willing to post to my user page whatever necessary and appropriate disclosures are required to make this clear. There was, in any case, no effort to deceive or misrepresent the work. I have reviewed the guidelines regarding conflict of interest, and appreciate the distinction between appearance and intent with regard to COI. In composing the entry, I have made every effort to present the information in as factual a manner as possible, offering citations and sources wherever possible. I believe the information regarding Dr. Rosenthal’s career and theories is notable and of public interest, can be properly sourced, and is of interest to ophthalmologists and the general reader. I take no position regarding the validity of his theories, and have no interest in their acceptance or rejection. CSinacola Csinacola (talk) 12:03, 4 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for declaring your COI on your user page. 13:25, 8 September 2015 (UTC)

Hi LaMona, I have done additional editing on the Perry Rosenthal article and resubmitted it. I included every reference I could find to any aspect of his work, and returned to a longer, earlier form of the draft. The result does not sidestep the controversial aspects of his work. Omitting them would only invite, quite rightly, criticism that I was trying to get a profile published that only highlights what he wants the public to know. I have, in short, done the best I can based upon nearly 30 years of experience as a news reporter and editor, approaching this as I would a news profile, and even a bit against the grain of what might be expected of a PR firm. Best I can do. Hope it passes muster, or can with only a few additional edits. Thanks for your past help. CSinacola Csinacola (talk) 21:02, 15 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
