Tampa, Florida[edit]

I have reinstated "Tampeño" as a Demonym for the city of Tampa. The excuse given to change my edit was was that it was a spanish word thus not allowed to be on an English page. This reasoning does not hold up as the language has less to do with the word being used than the actual origin of the word itself. The term "Tampeño" was coined and first used by people from Tampa. If the same rule were applied across the board we would not be able to use words like "Florida" and so on.

Also the order of the Demonyms have been changed to reflect their current popularity, Tampan is rarely used anymore and the shift has clearly went toward the use of the word "Tampanian", This also reflects the similarity of the Demonym for the state, people from Florida are not "Floridans" we are "Floridians". Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be engaged in an edit war with one or more editors according to your reverts at Tampa, Florida. Although repeatedly reverting or undoing another editor's contributions may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, and often creates animosity between editors. Instead of edit warring, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to be blocked from editing. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Please do not create, maintain or restore hoaxes on Wikipedia, as you did at Ole Pete. If you are interested in how accurate Wikipedia is, a more constructive test method would be to try to find inaccurate statements that are already in Wikipedia—and then to correct them if possible. Please do not disrupt Wikipedia. Continued disruption will be met with being blocked from editing, or other sanctions. Feel free to take a look at the five pillars of Wikipedia to learn more about this project and how you can contribute constructively.
