Unfortunately, that is not a reliable source, in my opinion. Please note that some of the listings have question marks. It appears to be an individual person's project, so is unlikely to have had fact checking and professional editorial control. When I get to a computer, I will look for a better reference. It isn't the original page, it is an archived copy. It is a big long list of famous people, many of them rock musicians, who supposedly have tinnitus. I noticed that George Harrison and Beatles producer George Martin have question marks. There are a few links but they are dead. Some listings have lots of detail. Others are just a name and a couple of words. The Edge has no details. Bono has a sketchy story, and says he mentions it in his lyrics. Hope this helps. Therefore, you have a clear conflict of interest and are strongly discouraged from editing this article. Wikipedia is a neutral encyclopedia, not a marketing tool for your company. As I mentioned previously, I work in construction, and am at different jobsites, usually for just one or two days. Some days I have lots of spare time, and other times very little. Today, I have been working in a rural area, and haven't had an internet connection on my smart phone all day long. It was a tough job but I made good money. So, it is 7:30 p.m. now, and I just got to a small city and picked up an internet connection. I will be driving for about an hour, will have a late dinner with my wife, and a shot of whiskey, and will then go to bed. That is how it goes sometimes. Some days you will hear much more from me. I appreciate you taking the time to stop by my talk page. You are the first person whos really said anything remotely positive instead of a sea of criticism I dont understand. I really am pretty discouraged and still not sure I understand this issues with that article. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amanda_Blain It does seem to me because I approved it in the "wrong" manner more than anything else that it turned into almost a witch hunt. I know you can't point to other articles as an example, but I read submission information extensively and perhaps you could give me an some points as to why my sources are no good? I'd appreciate the help. I don't want to waste any more time creating articles for all the trouble its causes currently.

For example: Looking at this page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allen_Steck that was lower on your talk page for mountaineering, I see a lot of secondary industry specific sources. There are no "new york times" but it seems a lot of "industry specific books and publications" Those kinds of sources were not 'counted' on the article i submitted (social media sites) and many stated it was just advertising.

I went through the category of "internet personalities" and some like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Sledd http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivan_Lanin http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brooke_Candy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francesca_Dani Etc... none have anything but direct sources. I honestly thought the article had enough going on, but at this point it seems ive rubbed some admins the wrong way and im not sure anything except an entire biography in the new york times on Blain would get it approved. Thank you for visiting my talk page, and I am happy to explain my point of view on the matter. As for the AfC process you went through, that means little to me. I rarely get involved with Articles for Creation, and don't claim to know the relevant policies. I have never put any of my articles through AfC, and have always just moved them from a sandbox to main space when I believed that they were ready. And none of my articles has ever been deleted.
Thank you for asking about Allen Steck, which may prove illustrative here. I wrote that article back in 2009, just a few months after I started editing Wikipedia. Your comments about sourcing indicate that you have a misunderstanding about what we are looking for with significant coverage in a reliable source. I am not going to wikilink to a bunch of policies and essays. If you want links, just ask and I will give them. What we want is professional editorial control and a reputation for accuracy and fact checking. There is nothing wrong with a source being "industry specific" as you put it, as long as the source meets those other standards. In the case of the Steck article, I referenced works published by the University of California Press, The American Alpine Club, Sierra Club Books, Wilderness Press, The Mountaineers, and Sierra Magazine. In the field of mountaineering in the United States, these are sources of impeccable reliability and absolute integrity. There are plenty of mountaineering blogs and self-published websites. I did not cite these because I preferred to use the best sources. The exception is that I linked to an interview on John Gill's website for some information about Steck's senior years. Gill is one of the most famous American rock climbers of the 20th century, and such an interview is OK, not to show notability, but to fill in some biographical details once notability is established.
Here is my opinion, which I believe is shared by a large percentage of experienced editors: With a few rare exceptions, the vast majority of material on social media sites has no professional editorial control, has to be considered self published, has no reputation for accuracy or fact checking, and is therefore unacceptable for establishing notability on Wikipedia.
When it comes to articles about internet celebrities, issues of advertising and promotion are very real. These people are for the most part, young go-getters at the beginning of their careers. A Wikipedia biogaphy for them may be a "stamp of approval" in a sense, but that is secondary to the interests of experienced editors. Our purpose is only to improve the encyclopedia, and that means declining biographies of those who are not yet truly notable. If you take a look at the Steck biography, and my other mountaineering biographies, you will see that these people are all dead or very elderly. Their accomplishments took place decades ago, and they have nothing personally to gain from recognition in Wikipedia. But they were all outstanding athletes with indisputable accomplishments in a very demanding and dangerous sport. Steck had three major first ascents, including a first ascent in 1950 in Yosemite Valley, and the route still bears his name 62 years later. He received two major mountaineering awards, and climbers don't throw awards around lightly. So, I am very confident that Steck is notable.
Please also note that the Steck article has a fair amount of biographical information regarding his education, his military service and his career, as well as his climbing accomplishments. That shows that he has received significant coverage. Contrast that with the article about Amanda Blain, which is devoid of biographical detail, other than an unreferenced date of birth and unreferenced birthplace. How can we verify those facts? The article in that sense is not really a biography but is more a discussion of her blogging and social media activities.
It is not necessary that reliable sources be from publications as famous as The New York Times, but it is essential in my mind that we have significant biographical coverage by reliable, independent sources in order to have a biography of a living person. Especially when the person in question may obtain professional or financial advantages by having a Wikipedia biography. Opening the floodgates means that Wikipedia's reputation will be ruined, and soon it would become as irrelevant as MySpace without Justin Timberlake.
I am a very active participant at Articles for Deletion, but one thing I don't do is nominate articles for deletion myself. Other editors nominate and I review. I am a volunteer and I get to choose my own role, the one I'm comfortable with. My role at AfD, as I see it, is to investigate those articles that catch my interest, express an informed opinion explaining my reasons, and to bring forward reliable sources when I find them. If so motivated, I will often expand the article, adding sources and removing inappropriate content.
I think that you overestimate the influence of administrators in AfD debates. I have never seen an AfD debate that was swayed by administrative power. Debates are shaped and swayed by arguments rooted in policies and widely accepted guidelines, and the quality of the sources. The opinion of a non-administrator such as myself is just as important and legitimate as that of an administrator. I do not hesitate to take the other side from an administrator, and commenting on AfD debates is not an administrative function anyway. When an administrator happens to nominate an article, or comment on an article, they are doing so as an ordinary editor. If the debate has good arguments on both sides, an administrator will close the debate and make the decision. But non-administrators close uncontroversial debates all the time. I choose not to myself, but others often do.
I took a quick glance at the four articles about "internet celebrities" that you mentioned. I think that it is safe to say that it is highly likely that I would be making "delete" recommendations if these articles came before me. But they haven't.

The point between live and dead (at least in this instance) and the industry, also makes me understand a bit more why people might be 'harsher' on it. Thank you for your quick reply and clear explanation of the situation concerning my article. You have given me much to think about, and I can see that I still have a lot to learn about how WP works. I will see what I can do to improve the piece. I think my fundamental misunderstanding has been about the possibility (from WP's point of view) of a conflict of interest. This has never been an issue in my career as an academic, because one's motive for writing something there is always to provide information from one's own expert point of view that will inform one's students and fellow-researchers. What prevents most academics from writing self-publicizing hype is the risk of ridicule from their peers. I was careful not to write anything evaluative about the SEC in my article, but I could certainly write about how it relates to other well-known corpora if that would improve it. Jim,

Thank you for your suggestions. I am in the middle of edits and additional references. I have changed my ID at the recommendation of Wiki to ensure that it does not appear as self-promotion.

Here is the heads up on the latest edits for Lean Design. Lean Design is described more completely, I went back to describe how it differs from traditional design. I went back to most of the main literature on the topic to reference the descriptive elements of Lean Design. I took a lot of care in the latest go around to make the article as neutral as possible. Again - thanks so much for your help. Please let me know if you think it needs further editing, or whether it can be published and then followed by additional referencing. I plan to continue to keep it up to date, and I hope others will also add to it and refine it.

Latest Edits to Lean Design

Hello Jim,Thanks so much for your suggestions. They are much appreciated, and thanks for your patience and advice as I refine the entry on Lean Desgin. On the latest version I updated Lean Design to be bold. I fixed the references to refer to actual books or articles, and not other Wikipedia entries. And then, I linked words within the text to other Wikipedia pages where possible.

I did read WP:NPOV on the neutral point of view, verifiability, and "no original research". I have fixed a number of these locaitons. I also expressed a couple of differences in the descriptions by different authors. For instance: in discussion about the four value stream versus the four domains. Same concept really, but two different ways of describing it by two different authors.

I have written extensively for business and am published, but encyclopdia writing is quite different. I am learning!

If I have missed something, or there is still a spot that is not neutral please let me know. It feels much more neutral now to me.

Hopefully we are a little closer to the finish line.

Yes, Boston Marathon bombings. Three dead, 25 with severe injuries, nearly 200 injured in total. My wife and I were in Boston for a Wikipedia event in 2011, and I have run in shorter races in San Francisco. Very upsetting.

Actually, the terrorist event was in Boston, on the east coast.
Wikipedia sponsors lots of events all over the world. Wikimania is the biggest, which I have never attended. The Boston event I attended in 2011 was a conference on Wikipedia in higher education. There are events at Wikimedia headquarters in San Francisco from time to time. I have attended a couple of women's edit-a-thons. It is 10:35 a.m. in California now. There is a three hour time difference from Miami, and I assume Cuba is in the same time zone. Try experimenting with the reference formatting for Morleigh. The article was a collaboration with a new user who lives in a country with extremely limited internet access. While the article was in sandboxes, I temporarily posted extensive quotes from various sources to allow the other editor to read source material in context. She structured the article, and extracted a few, much briefer quotes. Last night, I copyedited and moved the article to main space. I intend to continue working on the article to verify that everything is properly sourced and referenced. If you see specific problems, please point them out or feel free to edit the article as well. I agree with you. However, the article goes beyond that. 1. They shadowing unproven into disproven, whereby no shadowing should be done, and if done, that should be in direction of proven since fda has accepted two cs products for external application; 2. They agreed not to use primary sources especially without adjunct reliable secondary sources, yet do that. See la article and quackwatch. 3. They decided that individual products won't be mentioned in this general article, yet mention letter of fda addressed to specific sellers merely for changing the context of specific web sites ten years ago. It seems to me that the distinction between external application and ingestion is clear. As for me, I am glad that Quackwatch is considered a reliable source for evaluating medical quackery, and if the Los Angeles Times covers the legal aspects pertaining to fraud or con games or whatever, then that seems like a reliable source to me. I am in favor of the very strong preference for using secondary, review type articles for referencing medical claims. So, we will have to agree to disagree. Take care. Actually Quackwatch is not considered a reliable source. There is one decision of Arbcom regarding this and in that decision using of Quackwatch was denied because it's poor, partisan source (according to arbcom). Before something can be considered a quack substance, there should be in my opinion clinical trials proving that it's ineffective. LA calling a substance "quack" implies that it is not effective, and that is biomedical determination for which a secondary reliable source must be given.

GRAMMAR

They have a similar but not identical meaning. Fast refers to physical speed, so a runner or a car or a jet plane are fast. Quick relates more to time. It was a quick conversation, or a quick meal. Often but not always they can be used interchangeably. Each has secondary meanings that differ. Sometimes a smart person can be called quick, because they learn quickly. And fast might be a bad thing to say about a woman. She gets involved with a guy very soon after meeting him. So those are secondary meanings, or connotations. I have tried to write something with a sense of how to use science/mathematics to prove Existence of God, however I fail to organize it in a meaningful argument. It has started in the section Ultimate Coincidence on the Existence of God and continued across different talk pages, crystallizing into assumption that our time-space continuum is infinite and eternal, thus there are infinite chances of having life. However we do not see the extra-terrestrial life. I have proposed that the only possible reason for it could be existence of God.
I'm not sure if you see any sense in it, but if you will give it some deep pondering, you may see that I might be actually right.

I have read the first article, it looks nice. 'Shalselet' could be better spelled as 'Shalshelet' I think.

Maybe it should have somehow mentioned, that Jews being close to Germany (and the rabbi particularly) not only because he was born there, but because most Jews spoken Idish language at that time, that is similar to German language.
Maybe you could mention that Breira means 'choice'.

Thank you for your comments. In order, I used the transliteration from the original source. Not only did the Japanese attack Pearl Harbor and the Philippines in the same month, but the two attacks were only 6 to 7 hours apart. It was December 7, 1941 in Hawaii and December 8, 1941 in the Philippines, because of the international date line. Actually, most highly educated and acculturated German Jews, such as Rabbi Asher, spoke German instead of Yiddish. Instead of translating Breira, I linked to Breira (organization), which translates the name as "alternative", which is certainly a synonym for "choice". So far, I have have not been able to find a properly licensed photo of Rabbi Asher. I appreciate your observations. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 19:01, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
Well, since Rabbi Asher lived in Germany, obviously he would speak German :). I mean, most of the Jews used to speak idish between themselves and it's a language which is similar to German to such an extent that Idish speakers could understand German language I think.
I'm not perfect in Hebrew, but shalshelet or sharsheret () because letter shin is being transliterated as 'sh' and if someone did it differently, it might be a mistake. However though difference is negligent its interesting why first letter shin will be transliterated as 'sh' and the very same letter again later in the word as 's' :). First of all, thank you for your encouraging words about my maiden entry, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Dnikkir/Nicholas_A._Basbanes.

I followed your suggestions and did the body-copy wikilinks (maybe with a little more enthusiasm than was necessary, but I think they're okay). I Changed the reference to other Wikipedia articles to wikilinks and removed them from the references section. And finally, I converted the bare URLS in references and any remaining in external links to article title links. But I think I've done something wrong. Two of my external links to pdfs showed errors when I tested them (A World of Letters: Yale University Press, 1908—2008, and University of Missouri Interview). Did I do something here? They used to work okay. How do they look to you? Is it my acrobat reader?

This is gagegs, but you can call me Gina. I saw your comments first thing this morning, and what a lovely way to start the day, friendly helpful voices. I think I'm falling in love with Wikipedia!

As you may or may not be able to tell, I am brand spanking new to Wikipedia, but I intend to spend a lot more time here. I am working on my Rittenhouse School article for a graduate course in Public History, which is due Monday evening. Now that the article is "live" (Yay!) I intend to spend time working on it even after the class is over. I had always wanted to submit an article to Wikipedia, but I had no idea how involved, or how wonderful and fun the process can be. All of you editors/contributors/chat folks have been wonderfully helpful and kind. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it, and I can see why so many people contribute to Wikipedia. What an amazing place!

I've used Wikipedia on my job (Project Director/Analyst/Consulting archaeologist), and now it's my turn to give back. I am just starting my journey, and am woefully inadequate and uneducated about the process, guidelines, etc., but am more than willing to learn. So,I apologize upfront for any unintentional faux pas (I'm sure I've committed several), which reflects my inexperience. I'll be frantically working on the article this weekend, but commit to working diligently on my Wikipedia skills once this semester is over (three more days!).

I think that your work improves the article, and I thank you. I don't see a source for the statement that enrollment is now at the projected full enrollment of 2,200. Though the school now has four classes, I suspect that it will be several years before that enrollment level is met, as local subdivisions are built out. Other than that, I have no concerns. Yeah, I didn't actually see an exact source for that, which is why I didn't cite one, but it was 'anticipated' in the article and a couple of refs, and I was more concerned atm with the phrasing re past events stated as in the future. Howdy Cullen328. You are a gem! Thanks for fixing it for me, and for telling me what I did wrong. I can't wait until the day when I have this all down pat. I was terrified of doing this article (it's 1/3 of my grade)...well, I'm still terrified, but I'm also looking forward to having time after this semester is over to really dive in and learn all I can about Wikipedia. It's confusing and intimidating to a newcomer, but you have made it so much less so. I can't thank you enough for your help.

I will be working on the article the rest of tonight and tomorrow. I know it needs a lot of editing, and the citations are a mess, so that's my next task. I think I have a better handle on how to fix the citations (keep your fingers crossed), as everyone has been kind enough to walk me through the process. Now, I just need to breathe, slow down, and take it one step at a time, slowly :)
