First Salute to the American Flag
Hi Cwrwgar - If you are interested in chasing the discussion from the Talk:Sint Eustatius page any further, the list of quotes and sources on User:Viking1808/First Salute might be of use. It was a subject I got involved with at a discussion group but with no resolution. So far, it seems, the Dutch claim seems to be the officially acknowledged first salute. Why, I have no idea.
