Thanks for stepping in and cleaning up the Yagami. I recently expanded Judgment so I guess that article needs some grammar tweaks. I also considered creating an article for Goro Majima considering his popularity but I think I'll let it for another day.Tintor2 (talk) 21:28, 2 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I created Goro Majima. Perhaps it's the best if you copyedit it.Tintor2 (talk) 14:03, 5 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
A user created the article Shun Akiyama (Yakuza) and it seems to lack notability. Sadly, I'm not familiar with his game so I have no idea what to add there. I guess being bold is a good option but I've wondered if it would be best if we can create a character list with all the playable characters at least so that this franchise have more coverage in Wikipedia.Tintor2 (talk) 19:18, 2 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Made an article for Haruka Sawamura since there was so much about her role in 5. Feel free to edit it.Tintor2 (talk) 01:14, 31 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sources needed for Days of the Year pages

[edit]

You're probably not aware of this change, but Days of the Year pages now require direct sources for additions. For details see the content guideline, the WikiProject Days of the Year style guide or the edit notice on any DOY page. Please do not add new additions to these pages without direct sources as the burden to provide them is on the editor who adds or restores material to these pages. Thank you. Toddst1 (talk) 19:44, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure I understand; I don't see any citations on the DOY page. Do you mean the DOB needs to be cited on the individuals' pages? -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 19:56, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

I noticed your recent edit to Big City Greens does not have an edit summary. Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Tick Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! Thanks For Calling Out Alen on the SMBZ Article

[edit]

Alen Alic / Acekard/ 7aces, is whom I believe is Crazyeditorguy22, or at the very least a friend of his.

I believe he made the new alias after we have been calling him out for editing the Wikipedia article and making large chunks of it to give himself unfair and dishonest credit, under his "acekard" name.

I even spoke with Jason Kaufman my self, and he believes an Editor claim is completely unreasonable. Because all he did was rip Mark's footage without permission. Alen only got the footage because he manipulated Jason. Alen then went and used said footage and put together a very half arsed "remaster" with very little effort. He only THEN told Mark about it and tried to get the video UPLOADED TO ALEN'S youtube channel. After a long back and forth Mark eventually agreed to just upload the video to HIS channel, due to it being HIS CONTENT.

Mark and Alen are not even good friends and haven't been for a long time. I don't know enough about wikipedia to get the proper protocols in place to stop him, but if do you know I ask you to try. Alen does not deserve to get away with this.

Assistance Requested.

[edit]

I need some assistance if possible. In regards to the DuckTales character page, I'm debating whether to move Don Karnage from the Supporting Characters section over to the F.O.W.L. section. Even though he was only with them in "The Last Adventure!" and technically in "The Lost Cargo of Kit Cloudkicker!", I don't know if that's enough to warrant the move since he wasn't with F.O.W.L. in his first two appearances. Review this video regarding Sega All-Stars

[edit]

I know it may seem confusing to you, but the series is actually now referred to as Sega All-Stars and no longer Sega Superstars, it even says so on SEGA’s official website.

For further clarification, it mentions that AiAi appears in all four Sega All-Stars video games in this trailer from SEGA Forever on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSRx85pHKt4&t=42s

Have a good day, --Daniel.Nemitz (talk) 17:57, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There, that's a proper primary source clarifying the title of the series, and I'll gladly accept that. You need to actually start providing sources like that when making those sorts of changes, or else they'll keep getting reverted, if not by me then by someone else. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 18:00, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Reporting to Admins — Stop Reverting Correct Edits

[edit]

I’ve tried to reason with you, and putting a fake block notice on my page is not okay. I am aware of the rules, and as far as I’m concerned, you’ve been reverting most of my edits on a lot of pages — even though there is nothing wrong with them (and I’ve only been putting them back properly). As such, if you continue to engage in an edit war and remove information that doesn’t need to be, I will report to you Wikipedia and their admins as what you’re doing violates both the vandal and spam rules. Look, I’ve tried to be reasonable, but you’re just making things worse, and apparently you have a history with these things to begin with. Again, sorry — but vandalism is never okay. --Daniel.Nemitz (talk) 18:14, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That's not vandalism or a fake block notice, that's a warning notice. You violated WP:3RR, so as per Wikipedia policy, I put the notice on your page to warn you against doing so and get you to argue your point on the talk page instead of engaging in an edit war. Notice that I personally stopped at the third revision within 24 hours for that reason. I've been reverting your edits because many of them have been inaccurate, unsourced, or overly concerned wih minor details that would fall under WP:Gamecruft. Please further read Wikipedia's policies before claiming I somehow violated them. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 18:25, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I’m aware that I broke one of them, but you’re not permitted to place those notices on talk pages, hence “fake”. I’m not saying that a warning or a refresher isn’t necessary, but making it look like that I excessively vandalized something is not only an exaggeration, but mostly false. Furthermore, undoing edits that don’t need to be undone is completely unnecessary, and anything that seemed off after your first few suggestions I removed. Look at it this way — if someone is claiming something is true and they keep reverting your edits, simply find some sources (which I have done already but couldn’t add them since you were continually reverting my edits, so I had to fix them before I could add the references). Again, don’t revert edits unless it’s absolutely necessary. :) --Daniel.Nemitz (talk) 18:50, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It's not my responsibility to find sources for information you add. The burden of proof is on you, so you should add those sources when you first add the information, not after. And yes, anyone can place those warnings on anyone's page if they see someone violate the rule. In fact, they're supposed to; blocks typically aren't issued unless a user has suffiiently been warned by other editors. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 19:02, 18 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The Importance Scale

[edit]

Just thought I’d clarify something. Each WikiProject has their own importance scale (see WikiProject Japan, WikiProject Video games, and the Sega Task Force for more respective details), which means you must place the correct importance and rating with the corresponding article. Something that I clarified with the other two editors who continued to ignore the scale on said talk page, you must go by the scale and not for any personal reflections or opinions. If you look at the video game WikiProject's importance scale, the said page fits "High Importance" scale for being recognizable and being a culture icon outside of their respective video game (again, something may change in upcoming years that requires a reassessment, as maybe the character is canceled or no longer significant in culture, etc.). As for WikiProject Japan, the page fits "Mid Importance" due to her recognizable popularity in said country, much like Hello Kitty (although more significant hence the "High Importance" rating). If you feel like the projects should change their scaling requirements respectively or spot any errors, feel free to discuss it under their talk pages. I should also add that if I see a page under the incorrect rating, I usually tend to fix it going by their WikiProject guidelines and said scale. Thank you, hope this helps! Any other questions, feel free to reach out! Happy to clarify! — Lord of Fantasy (talk) 18:08, 27 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'm well aware. I've been here much longer than you, as have the two other editors you reverted. And I stand by the fact that Ulala is of mid-tier importance to the video game project (comparable to other character examples listed like Fox McCloud or Jin Kazama) and low-tier importance to the Japan project, as all sources indicate she has not achieved nearly the level of recognizability that you suggest. I am led to believe that you are unable to make such judgment alls objecively due to your time spent editing the page, and I'd suggest that when multiple veteran editors are telling you you're in the wrong, you actually spend some time self-reflecting on why instead of continuing to push back and insist you're the one in the right. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 18:18, 27 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I don’t think you took the time to see the respective importance scales. The others agreed with me, so without trying to be harsh or anything, stop being arrogant and actually review things before you change them. Like I said, I’m going by the scales respectively and I have been doing that for every page I’ve edited that has been incorrectly placed. Like I said, if you have a problem with the WikiProject scales, take it up with them instead of me. I don’t make the rules. Thank you. Lord of Fantasy (talk) 18:53, 27 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The others DIDN'T agree with you, though. They all said Mid for Video Games and Low for Japan. You're the only one arguing otherwise. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 18:59, 27 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I’m placing the appropriate ratings back in about a day. If you want a reassessment, discuss it under the talk page and take it up with the respective WikiProjects like every other "veteran". I am going by their scales, I always have, and if it’s wrong I fix it without being biased. If there’s any problems I talk to them like this directly and try to solve it. I do not want to argue with you and whatever happens behind PMs with other people is none of your concern. You obviously didn’t read anything of what I had to say because you’re just concerned about "being here longer than me". Being here longer than others doesn’t mean you know everything about Wikipedia, and maybe people “below” you might know more — it’s irrelevant. But yes, it’s always better to listen to veterans because they have more experience, but being irrational never helps. I’ve listened to the guidance other Wikipedians have given me, and if I was unclear about something or did something wrong, I fixed it. But this is about the importance scale on WikiProjects — one of which I have been a part of since near the start. When talking to other Wikipedias, next time, try to be reasonable and stop being arrogant through irrational behavior, or else others will get frustrated with you. It’s not the first time you’ve had this problem with others on here. I am no longer replying to this thread. Take it up with the projects, please — for any concerns. Lord of Fantasy (talk) 19:17, 27 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That's not how this works. If multiple other people argue against it (and I, Haleth, and Zxcvbnm all have), it falls to you to make your case to change existing concensus, not the other way around. However, I have opened discussions on the Video games and Japan projects in order to seek outside input; I suggest you make your case there. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 19:35, 27 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, thank you for that. But can you stop making claims about me that are not true, and acting like you’ve been a reasonable dude the whole time? I’m not normally like this, but today’s been a real ticker for me. Sorry, I really am, I’m just asking a favor. Lord of Fantasy (talk) 21:27, 27 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't said one word that isn't true, and I have attempted my best to explain to you your mistakes so you can avoid them in the future. I understand that you might be having a tough day, and I sympathize, but that's not an excuse to go around blaming other people because you don't have a full grasp on the rules. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 21:32, 27 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You said I mostly edit on fan wikis. That’s not true. I’ve barely edited on fan wikis, mostly on the Game of Thrones one, but that’s it. And I know the rules, so stop saying that I don’t, and stop pretending you were being reasonable the whole time. I would like an apology, because that’s the only thing I deserve right now, and because it’s the right thing to do on your part. Other than that, I’m done — I really don’t wanna interact with you if you can’t apologize. Lord of Fantasy (talk) 21:35, 27 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You've had to have multiple rules and policies explained to you already at this point by both me and multiple others, including reliable sourcing, warning templates, and now the importance scale; I'm sorry if it sounds harsh, but if you don't want to accept the possibility you might be wrong, that's not my problem. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 21:50, 27 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Only by you mostly — and some of the times you were misunderstanding the situation. Other times I was contacted by other Wikipedians, they were understanding and explained it without acting arrogant and were extremely helpful and understanding, and I thanked them for it. And yes, I was wrong — I have admitted it several times, unlike your personality. I was mostly wrong here, but not for what I asked of you — which was a simple apology. Wow, thanks for opening old wounds and thanks for that amazing apology. Don’t talk to me again, I won’t respond to anything you say, and if you have anything to say, ask someone else to say it to me. Great job at proving your arrogance, and claiming things about me that weren’t true to begin with — both of which you failed to admit to when I mentioned it earlier today. I wish you a good life, don’t speak to me again. Lord of Fantasy (talk) 22:04, 27 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sure you edit fan wikis. See here, here, and here, the earliest edits of which predate your time on Wikipedia. And that's okay! I'm not shaming you for editing fan wikis; those are fine, great even! Wikipedia just has different standards. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 22:25, 27 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Mario Kart 8 Infobox

[edit]

Dude!

Why did you revert back to the basic mk8 infobox? the one I did looks much better and I didn't change or delete anything. I added some things, and you mention Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in the article, so I suggest you keep it. ChallengeCick (talk) 09:34, 20 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

No. You were already told once that the article only needs one piece of box art per the rules. The Wii U version came out first and is the primary focus of the article, so that's the art we're using. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 09:42, 20 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
We still need to give Mario Kart 8 Deluxe the recognition it deserves. So either we stick with that infobox (which is the wiser option), or I make a similar infobox for the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe portion of the article. You choose. ChallengeCick (talk) 04:36, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Or you stop breaking the rules and leave the page as it was before. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 04:39, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Fine. I'll leave it as is. But if you regret it, don't come crying to me later. ChallengeCick (talk) 08:12, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Apology to Cyberlink420 & others.

[edit]

Hey, Cyberlink420. Look. I stopped by and I wanted to apologize for all the trouble I never meant to cause. I never meant to be a pest when I kept editing the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe section to explain that the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC has more than one issue. I only wanted to share additional info & issues that I felt Mario Kart fans should at least be aware of. Needless to say, I've made an apology message to let you know that I'm sorry, but also want to explain my reasons to why I added the information that I made. My apology reads, and I quote...

"Please forgive me, Sergecross73, Cyberlink420, & Dissident93. I am so very sorry. It was never my intention to engage in an edit war.
But at least please try to hear me out.
In my opinion, talking only about one issue about the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC is NOT enough.
In addition to people's gripes with the graphical differences of the tracks between the DLC & the Base game, other players & fans of the Mario Kart have raised other issues, like the DLC tracks' lack of Anti-Gravity Mechanics, & especially the DLC's lack of other content like characters, vehicles, wheels, gliders, outfits / skins (aka the "characters alts from Tour"), power-ups, & so on.
Besides GameRant & Essentially Sports, the ONLY 2 internet sources who've touched about the latter topic in regards of lack of other contet such as characters, vehicles, & more, many people on Platforms such as Twitter & YouTube have either at least mentioned said issue, or even criticized the issue. Even big name YouTubers like GameXplain, NintendoLife, & Arlo have mentioned or even wished that said content would be implemented to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to go along with the tracks.
My reasons for adding the information I've been trying to add in the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe section of the Mario Kart 8 Wikipedia page is because NOT everyone focuses on only one issue that the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC has. You can't always say that the graphical differences is the ONLY issue that the DLC, you need to discuss OTHER issues, too.
And everytime I saw that information removed, I felt that you were censoring information that Mario Kart fans could at least be aware of.
As much as I want to share legitimate sources that discuss the DLC's issue of Lack of characters, vehicles, & other content, the PROBLEM is that other than GameRant & Essentially sports, big name news sources, as far as I know of, DON'T DO THAT.
The only people I know who discuss on or even at least mention such an issue are...
-GameRant
-Essentially Sports
-YouTubers, including big names like GameXplain, NintendoLife, & Arlo
-Twitter Users
At least consider that you can't always focus on only one issue that fans have with the DLC. You have to consider OTHER issues, too.
Besides, if YouTube Videos & Twitter Tweets are allowed as references so long as they're legitimate, like with the Green Eggs & Ham (TV Series) Wikipedia page having the Trailer on YouTube & the Announcement Date on a Netflix Twitter account as references, why not videos made by big names like GameXplain & NintendoLife?
But all things considered, if you really don't want to me to edit the Mario Kart 8 page anymore, then fine, I'll knock it off.
Just at least PLEASE consider the OTHER issues that the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC has, and not only one issue it has. Okay?
Sincerely & with humblest apologies,
Trekker-J1"

So I hope you understand my reasons to why I wanted the information added to the section. But regardless, I do want to apologize to you, and want you to tell Sergecross73 & Dissident93 that I'm sorry. I only wanted to share information to help Mario Kart fans be aware of, & not cause any trouble at all.

And with Mario Kart's 30th Anniversary coming this August, I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo added more characters, vehicles, wheels, gliders, outfit / skins (characters alts from Tour), power-ups (maybe), & other content to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Besides, in my honest opinion, if tracks from Mario Kart Tour are coming over to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, then surely, Nintendo should do the same with Tour's characters, vehicles, wheels, gliders, outfit / skins (characters alts from Tour), power-ups (maybe), & other content.

Not to mention that one day, Mario Kart Tour will shut down, just like Dr. Mario World did, so it'd be wise to preserve Tour's content in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

But regardless, please... Forgive me for all the trouble that I never meant to cause. I am truly sorry.

Thank you very much, have a nice day, & stay healthy & safe.

About Jojo All Star Battle

Hi! I've initially placed a CSD tag on this, because the picture showed the logo of "Sonic Oranges" (you can find it in the File history section 07:20, 21 April 2022, same person moved the article to Sonic Oranges as well). After realizing it wasn't your fault, I restored the proper version back (including the vandalized text in the article) and removed the tag. Can that hoax previous version be reported to admins? I have no idea how that works now. Regards, Jovanmilic97 (talk) 07:33, 21 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Redundant

[edit]

Heya, Looking at your recent contributions you appear to be removing all pages from a category by going page to page and removing it. (Which could imply automation, but not necessarily). It would be more efficient to just delete the category itself. PerryPerryD Talk To Me 15:24, 27 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Appreciated, but the category shouldn't be deleted. All I'm doing is (manually, without automation) removing instances of the "Nintendo games" category when it's also categorized under one of its subcategories, such as "The Legend of Zelda games" or "Mario sports games". That doesn't apply to every page, though, as there's lots of Nintendo games like Fossil Fighters and Hotel Dusk that aren't part of a subcategory, in which case they should be left under "Nintendo games". It's a case by case basis. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 15:28, 27 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Metal Gear Rising

[edit]

What important details? How's the name of Sam's sword important for the narrative?Tintor2 (talk) 19:45, 8 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Stuff like Raiden and Sam dueling, Maverick continuing to support Raiden unofficially, Sunny being the one to assist Raiden, Raiden's sword being destroyed (which is the whole reason he needs to use Sam's), and so forth. Also, Wikipedia's guidelines say the plot summary needs to be less than 700 words. It used to be 706, just a little bit over the line, but the IP edit brought it down to 692, which is within the limit. There's no need to make any more changes because it's already acceptable. (Also, as I said, your changes were full of bad grammar and spelling.) -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 19:52, 8 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Warning

[edit]

I came very close to blocking you for edit warring as well in the Sonic Frontiers dispute. The two of you kept at it on the article and also created quite a mess at File:Sonic Frontiers gameplay screenshot.png, which can be seen in all the deletions I had to do. The only reason I didn't was your willingness to engage in discussion on the article talk page, and your attempt to stop the edit war by way of posting a warning on their talk page. Another administrator might have blocked you. I am perhaps biased by this (see 9 December 2008), and had some reluctance in blocking someone who was asking for help.

But let's be clear; asking for help and warning doesn't give you permission to continue an edit war either. If Southwestmetal (or any other account) reverts on that article again, don't revert. Ask for help. There's no deadline for the article to be in a particular state. Once help arrives, action may be taken by others. I know it can be irritating dealing with stuff like this, but patience is in order.

I know you've been here a long time, and have an empty block log. But, that did not figure into my decision to block them and not you. In fact, I didn't even look at your history here before deciding on what to do. The point is; you've been here long enough to know better. Don't walk onto this thin ice again...anywhere. --Hammersoft (talk) 02:39, 3 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, that was my mistake. As someone who is an admin on another wiki, I should have known better and reached out sooner. Apologies again, and I'll be more careful in the future. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 02:41, 3 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi.

[edit]

Sorry for edit warring with you, I've learned my lesson. 71.112.154.222 (talk) 23:34, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It's fine, just be careful next time. I know all too well how easy it is to get tunnel vision when you don't understand why someone reverted you. If something like this starts to happen again on another page, I suggest opening up a discussion on the article talk page after the second revision. That way, you're still within WP:3RR and it demonstrates you're making a good faith effort to actually improve the article and work with other editors rather than taking a "my way or the highway" approach. Plus it's a lot easier to get other editors on your side when you explain why you're making a change (or alternatively, it gives other editors the opportunity to explain why they're reverting your edits). -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 03:13, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl

[edit]

Can I please ask why you reverted my edit to Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl? I honestly felt the edit I did made the table much neater. The columns are much better balanced, rather than extremely sloppily skewed to the right side as they were before. 92.11.191.227 (talk) 07:37, 19 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Because it broke the table. This is what your edit looks like on my browser. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 17:11, 19 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Well, that can't be right, because your edit looked like this and is clearly lopsided. 92.11.191.227 (talk) 19:28, 19 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
ArojamDharkon also reported mine looking correct. The issue comes down to the fact that you're viewing the list in a much smaller window than most desktop browsers. It's a moot point though, since the change I made to the columns just now is designed for accessibility on all browser window sizes while also not wasting the available whitespace in the article -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 19:32, 19 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
With all due respect, though, it looks messy now, and feels very inconsistent with how rosters on other crossover games are listed. I much prefered it before, minus the column sizes. 92.11.191.227 (talk) 20:03, 19 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, the way I reverted it to was how it was originally listed, as were the other crossovers. Some random anon changed them a few months back. (Also, you should really revert your last edit, as it violates WP:3RR.) -- Cyberlink420 (talk)

Reversion of DKR

[edit]

Hello, why do you revert good faith editing from Diddy Kong Racing? Windywalk (talk) 05:48, 31 October 2022 (UTC) (Fixed improper usage of notice in 16:31, 4 June 2023)[reply]

Good faith has nothing to do with Verifiability. DKVine is a fansite, and does not meet the verifiability requirements. Try finding a different source at WP:VG/RS. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 14:17, 31 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Although it's a fansite, but there are remarks made by Rare's anonymous employees. Windywalk (talk) 14:26, 31 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If they're anonymous, you can't verify that the comments are real. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 14:27, 31 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
As much as possible, they do not reveal anything about in-house information. According to Leigh Loveday, some of employees felt that Nintendo being prejudiced against them. Windywalk (talk) 14:38, 31 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The source for that tweet is the exact same DKVine article; they just added a name where DK Vine didn't, with no proof that Loveday actually said these things. And some random Twitter account isn't a usable source either. You need to use sources that meet the requirements for verifiability on WP:VG/RS. If you're really determined to use that source, I suggest bringing it up on the talk page for video game sources to see what people think. But until and only if DKVine has been rated an acceptable source, do not use it as a citation on any pages. -- (talk) 14:42, 31 October 2022 (UTC)

ArbCom 2022 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 12 December 2022. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2022 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:23, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Nintendo categories

[edit]

Hello, Cyberlink420,

It looks like you removed all of the contents of some categories and then tagged them for speedy deletion, CSD C1. This is called "emptying categories out of process" and is considered disruptive editing. If, in the future, you would like a category to be deleted, renamed or merged, please make a nomination at Categories for Discussion so that other editors can weigh in on the category changes. These discussions are particularly important for categories because they exist in an interconnected category hierarchy so what affects one category can affect others as well.

You also didn't notify the category creator that you had tagged their page creations for deletion. Please make use of Twinkle when you tag pages for deletion and set up your Twinkle Preferences to "Notify page creator" so then Twinkle can post these talk page notifications on your behalf. Alternatively, you can find an appropriate template or write a personal note to do this. It's important to alert content creators when pages that they have created might be deleted. I'd appreciate it if you could take these steps in the future and also make use of CFD for any category deletions. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 18:42, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I just noticed that you created some of these categories. I still would prefer you wouldn't just empty them but in these cases, once they are empty, you can tag them for CSD G7 speedy deletion if no other editor has made a contribution to the page. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 18:47, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
My apologies. While I didn't use CFD, I did propose this a week ago at WP:Videogames, with no dissenting votes. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 18:55, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Later Alligator GA Nomination

[edit]

Hey, just wanted to mention that I'm planning to nominate the page for GA. Is there anything you'd recommend improving before I submit?FlyingKangeroo (talk) 17:26, 23 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You might have an uphill battle. In my experience, it's hard for articles without a lot of sources to make GA, especially if the game doesn't have a Metacritic score. At the bare minimum, I'd recommend making sure as many statements as possible in the Gameplay section have citations to verify them, and that the few raw URLs in the sources are converted to proper citations. Don't be surprised if it ends up not being enough, though; GA can be pretty strict sometimes. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 19:06, 23 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I'm hopeful because I managed to get Alto's Odyssey through a couple of weeks ago, but I wouldn't be surprised if this one gets declined. I'll do another check for new sources and polish up some of the writing before I submit though. FlyingKangeroo (talk) 17:37, 24 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Lego Island

[edit]

On 6 September 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Lego Island, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the entire development team of Lego Island was fired the day before the game was released? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Lego Island. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Lego Island), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Spy Fox 2: Some Assembly Required

[edit]

I'm sorry I put too much emphasis on the Spy Fox 2 plot summary. However, your edit did leave a few typos and did leave out a few important details in the plot, such as Agent Gracefully giving Spy Fox the pill which can transform into skies; these were reasons why I edited the summary in the first place. I was touched by your revision and wanted to help fix it, but I guess I went too far. I actually did try not to make the summary too long, while trying to put in as many important plot details as I could. Again, I apolagize. 74.132.203.31 (talk) 07:07, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The trick to writing a good plot summary is to focus on the important bits. Spy Fox escaping after being confronted by goons or being trapped in the Dogbot's mouth are relevant details, but the fact he uses dehydrated skis or gears to do so probably aren't. Focus on making sure the major events of the story are summarized, not so much on the little details of the puzzles solved to do it; that sort of thing would be better for a walkthrough. Also, Wikipedia prefers that game and movie summaries are kept to 400–700 words total, so make sure you're staying within that limit. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 16:07, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Right. Again, I'm sorry for the trouble and hope you have a good day! 🤗 74.132.203.31 (talk) 16:39, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Cyberlink420 I do understand. However, some of the info on the plot you put down was not entirely correct. For instance, about the part where Fox sets the code and puts the off switch in place, you only mentioned Fox placing the switch, while it is actually possible to set the off code after placing the switch, so the sentence really should be, "Moments after placing it back on the control console and setting the activation code, the millionth customer walks through the turnstile and LeRoach activates the Dogbot, attacking the fair." 2603:6010:8B45:FA00:C4AF:15FF:9469:9C38 (talk) 00:18, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Superstars Emerald progress

[edit]

I played the Main Story of Sonic Superstars once with all Chaos Emeralds collected, and when I started on Trip's campaign the next day, I found she had access to all the Emerald powers from the off. That tells me that any Emeralds collected in the main campaign are carried over to Trip's story. Visokor (talk) 16:29, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Nevermind I saw the issue, sorry I took things at face value there. Gimme a bit.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 22:34, 17 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's fine, I just want to make sure we're using proper artwork. I couldn't find that particular piece you used the first time anywhere in the press kit or my rips of the in-game assets, so I'm not sure where it came from; it's noticeably uses a slightly different skin tone and color palette than the rest of the art, so that's why I suspected it might be off. The full-body HGH art works great, though, so I've got no problem with that. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 23:20, 17 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, the original I grabbed came from a bad source. Touched up the concept art while I was there too, mainly just going through all the old vg character pages and trying to redo the infobox art where it needs it.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 23:23, 17 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Text distribution mostly. It looks a little weird when you have these short little paragraphs for each of the first three cases, then these huge blocks of text for 4 and 5. Dropout

[edit]

Hi there! I saw that all my changes got reverted. I am more or less giving up editing this article further at this point, but I wanted to reach out to clarify for my own edification. Regarding sourcing, I did use some Twitter and Discord sources. As this is an internet comedy company, messages from Twitter and Discord came directly from the CEO or the Chief Digital Officer, as both channels are the primary avenues of communication to users. While I sourced from third-party articles as best as possible, some information does not exist except through those digital channels. Could you advise how to address that in sourcing in the future? Mnycgurl8 (talk) 13:05, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

As I said, Twitter is allowed, if used sparingly; we have the "Cite Tweet" template for that exact purpose. Discord absolutely is not, as those messages can't be viewed without having a Discord account and joining the server in question; there's no way for someone at a glance to click the link and check if the information is accurate, especially now that the Dropout Discord is being shut down. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 13:51, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! Sariel Xilo (talk) 17:21, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Just want to flag again that edit summaries are super useful for other editors. For example, with your recent Dimension 20 edit, I have no idea why you removed a source or made other changes. Sariel Xilo (talk) 18:03, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That was an edit conflict. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 18:06, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
My experience with edit conflicts is that you get a notice so typically, I try to mention that I'm resolving it in the edit summary (especially if I'm overwriting a previous edit). Regardless, you could have included an edit summary (such as "added M&M S2 to both tables") so other editors at a glance know the article has been updated to include the upcoming season. Cancelled Backyard Football 2001 Game

[edit]

I can definitely get why you deleted the Backyard Football 2001 paragraph in the Backyard Football page. You're right; the front page doesn't give any info on the cancelled game. I meant for the source to show the Humongous Entertainment® Brings Award-Winning Humongous Sports™ CD-ROM Titles to PlayStation® Game Console and Game Boy® Color page. You can get to that by clicking the "About Us" button on the front page, then click "Press Room", where you'll find a bunch of links to News Releases and Humongous Entertainment® Brings Award-Winning Humongous Sports™ CD-ROM Titles to PlayStation® Game Console and Game Boy® Color is one of them. The cancelled Backyard Football 2001 GBC game is one of those titles announced. I'm really sorry that I messed up. It just wouldn't allow me to take that citation to the page that shows the info. I'm just an amateur at editing. I just really wanted to make sure people were aware of this, because it is true. 2603:6010:8B00:44FF:E4AA:DC5C:EFCF:1BA (talk) 19:21, 9 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Totally all right, nobody starts editing already knowing everything! I checked, and you're correct, the press release does mention Backyard Football 2001 coming to GBC, along with Backyard Baseball 2001 and Backyard Soccer. If you want to re-add that to the page, here's a properly-formatted citation that links directly to the archived version of the press release. Just paste this code at the end of the sentence:
<ref>{{cite web | url=http://humongous.com/parents/Pr/More/News/playstation.html | title=Humongous Entertainment® Brings Award-Winning Humongous Sports™ CD-ROM Titles to PlayStation® Game Console and Game Boy® Color | author=Humongous Entertainment | date=May 11, 2000 | website=Humongous.com - News Releases | access-date=July 9, 2024 | url-status=dead | archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20001120124900/http://humongous.com/parents/Pr/More/News/playstation.html | archive-date=November 20, 2000}}</ref>

If you could help...

[edit]

Hey. Hope you've been well. If you have any free time here and there, can you help keep an eye on the Cancelled Xbox games list? There's an editor there who is well meaning, but keeps adding entries with tons of typos, sloppy prose, poor formatting, unreliable sources, etc. I had some extra free time yesterday, so I was able to fix most of them up recently, but I'm not going to have enough time to keep fixing them if he keeps it up at the same pace.

(Side note - This isn't an attempt to canvass. There's no dispute here - most of the games legitimately qualify for the list. They just write really sloppy entries that need reviewing. I thought I'd ask you because you are so good at writing proper entries like I've been doing across the lists.)

Information on Wikipedia needs to be cited to reliable sources per WP:VG/RS, both to establish the statements are verifiable and the information itself is notable. Sorry to say, but if the sources don't exist, there's not much that can be done. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 16:26, 26 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Cristiano Ronaldo

[edit]

It's already gotten coverage by WP:RS, multiple outlets have issued statements. I don't think it's a "race" either but it's clearly highly notable. Sports Illustrated, Reset Era, Comicbook.com, Eventhubs. The list is exhaustively long, Gaming as well as sports websites that have covered this. Not to mention about 9 hours ago, SNK officially posted the teaser as well. If anything deserves to be included in this article, it's definitely this. Also a few sentences have been used for articles for in regards to WP:NEWS. There's tons and tons articles that are in WP:VG/RS regarding this. As it's breaking it should be updated (obviously) but not to include it at this juncture in time seems negligible.Especially sense this is the biggest selling point and raison-d'etre for this game. 68.189.2.14 (talk) 13:43, 25 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think you understand what constitutes a reliable source. I literally just did a search using the custom search engines on WP:RS and WP:VG/RS and none of the sites considered reliable or even situational are covering this. It will eventually be notable, yes, but the coverage simply isn't there yet. And to say this is "the biggest selling point and raison d'etre" is a bit much, considering we don't even know what he's doing. Please actually think through this before continuing to edit the article. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 14:55, 25 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's already in Eurogamer[1], and IGN[2], both listed as reliable, sources by Wikipedia WP:RS It's literally everywhere at this point, granted this a bigger selling point in Europe than the United States so the source are from specific divisions within those countries. And yes, Sports Illustrated is covered this too, lmao.
"Considering we don't even know what he is doing". You are right which is what I mentioned several times, we don't know what he's doing but we do know there is a collaboration taking place, that's already being covered by multiple respectable outlets and official sources. It would be negligent at this point not to list such a collaboration occurring when literally SNK's official Twitter, Youtube, as well as Ronaldo's official Twitter and Youtube both state a collaboration is taking place.
"And to say this is "the biggest selling point and raison d'etre" is a bit much", Yes you don't put a global celebrity with over a billion followers, and consequentially pin the tweet ahead a of large showcasing gameshow, on the companies social media, for no reason what so ever.[3]. That's clearly an inconsequential and undeliberate move by the developers.
Regardless, it has a mention now, that's good enough 68.189.2.14 (talk) 15:26, 25 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You didn't link IGN or Eurogamer, though; all you ever posted was Ronaldo's tweet itself until I told you you needed better sources. I have no problem with either of those or SI, and I'm glad you added a better source eventually, but that's not what you posted initially, so don't act like I was in the wrong for removing your addition when you hadn't put in the work to do things by the book. Those should have been linked the first time around. There was also the issue of tone; speculating about the nature of the collaboration without actual evidence to back it up is against WP:CRYSTAL, hence why I rewrote it to just the objective facts (they teased a collab) while dropping everything else. And as I've said multiple times, you don't need a whole subsection one sentence, especially one that breaks the traditional format of "Development"/"Release"/etc. At most, it could go in a "marketing" section once there's more detailed information and room to write more than a single sentence, but for now it's fine where it is as part of the release section. (Also, your behavior during the whole process, including borderline edit-warring, does not reflect well and is likely to get you in trouble if it continues. It's "Bold, Revert, Discuss", not "Bold, Revert, put it back anyway, THEN start a discussion". Please be more careful next time.) -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 15:45, 25 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
None of what you said is about my actions is true. Not a single thing. WP:TWITTER, and WP:SPS allows for sourcing from Twitter, under these rules
"The material is neither unduly self-serving nor an exceptional claim;
It does not involve claims about third parties;
It does not involve claims about events not directly related to the source;
There is no reasonable doubt as to its authenticity; and
The article is not based primarily on such sources."
Both Ronaldo and SNK both consecutively self-published statements admitting to a collaboration (one occurred a few days later.) occurring. I listed one at the time (Ronaldo) but it wasn't difficult to find the other (SNK). Also there was virtually no speculation or WP:CRYSTAL on my part and I offered to discuss the matter on the talk page, which you refused to do. All I stated was "Ronaldo is set to make a guest appearance in the game and help with promotion." Given that he is already promoting the game that checks one box, a guest appearance is a vague statement which could be interpreted in many different ways. The teaser itself gives a strong indication that he will be playing some role. Hence, a Legendary player joins a Legendary game. I didn't say he was a character, dlc, a stage, a voice over or anything of such matter. Collaboration was the word I stated first to try to make things as vague as possible, but even that could be deemed speculation if you wish to be pedantic. You could easily be accused of "Edit Waring" yourself because you didn't even bother with the talk page. My edits where constructive, sourced, and not speculative. Perhaps Ronaldo could go under marketing, but no such event could occur if people like yourself are adamant about deleting an event that is highly noteworthy, with zero discussion! The statement I made was WP:NOTE which passes the criteria for being included in an article. It was not WP:SYNTH or WP:OR. I did not synthesize any information that wasn't from the source. I hope next time you use the talk page, rather than going into full Edit-Waring mode! (Which you have been accused by several prolific Wikipedians in the past!) ~~

Cancelled game lists

[edit]

Hey, I just wanted to say thanks again for you help with the cancelled game lists this year. It was funny, I was reviewing my to-do list I created earlier that outlined my goals for rewriting them this year. As I think I mentioned earlier, a big life change made it so I had far less time for content creation in the second half of the year, which blew up all my plans. But looking at it now, with wrapping up my preliminary cleanup of the PSP list, in the end, with your help, all the lists on my to-do list did end up getting done...just some not by me.

So, thanks again, its cool that it worked out in the end. Not entirely 100% sure what my 2025 plans are. I believe there's a lot of entries missing from the Saturn list, so that'll probably be one I work on soon. I might try to clean up the 3DO one too - I'm not particularly well-versed or interested in it, but I think a lot of of entries could be pulled from the Saturn/32X/N64/other lists. Let me know if you have any plans for future lists, so we don't do any redundant work. Thanks! Sergecross73 msg me 17:14, 20 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Appreciate the kind words! I honestly didn't expect to spend so much time working on them. My only plans originally were to clean up the N64 article since it's a system I have a lot of affinity for (finally managed to complete my North American game collection earlier this year), but I ended up getting more invested than expected and am really proud of the results. Haven't decided what to work on next, but I might go back over the articles I've already worked on and try to fill them out more; I'm sure there's plenty of NES and GB games still missing from our coverage. Either way, thanks again, and here's to a fruitful 2025! -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 20:29, 23 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
