Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

How was i vandalizing Crem19 (talk) 05:09, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I guess by creating an account to evade attention to the IP you were using to make identical edits literally minutes before? Cyclopedion (talk) 05:14, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

May 2018[edit]

Wikipedia's technical logs indicate that this user account has been or may be used abusively. It has been blocked indefinitely from editing to prevent abuse.

Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted.
If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you should review the guide to appealing blocks, and then appeal your block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|Your reason here ~~~~}}. Note that anything you post in your unblock request will be public, so you may alternatively use the Unblock Ticket Request System to submit an appeal if it contains information that must be private.

Administrators: Checkusers have access to confidential system logs not accessible by the public or by administrators due to the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy. You must not loosen or remove this block, or issue an IP block exemption, without consulting with a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee. Administrators who undo checkuser blocks without permission from a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee may be summarily desysopped.

@Drmies: why am I blocked and what is a checkuser block? Cyclopedion (talk) 01:07, 5 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oh, Checkuser ("CU") is a tool that allows one to establish from what IP address certain edits are made. It's not to be used without good reason, and only with good suspicions that someone is not who they claim to be. So in your case it revealed quite easily that your previous account was User:~S.Brendan.S~. And so that's why you're blocked: because you are the same editor who earlier had an account that was blocked indefinitely. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 01:10, 5 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Drmies: I don’t know who that person is but I am not the only person who uses this IP as it is a residential treatment center. What was your good reason for violating my privacy? Cyclopedion (talk) 01:16, 5 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The extraordinary quality of your edits. If only Brendan hadn't been so eager to burn bridges, so easily inflamed. Wikipedia can use good editors but they have to be team players. Drmies (talk) 01:20, 5 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Not kidding, by the way. You have a good nose for problematic edits. Drmies (talk) 01:26, 5 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Drmies: The “extraordinary quality” of my edits is sarcasm I assume? I have been pretty much only patrolling RC for vandalism, which I got the hang of pretty quickly. I’m learning as I go. Or at least I was, until you blocked me. I’m still confused as to exactly how my edits were in any way similar to those of that editor, who’s only edits to actual articles were poor. Can you see how I’m still struggling to understand why you violated my privacy? Cyclopedion (talk) 01:30, 5 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Oh I am perfectly happy to discuss matters, including this unlikely story about your superfast learning ability, as soon as you drop the violation talk: this is a private website, after all. And no, no sarcasm. Why do people always think others are being sarcastic? Drmies (talk) 01:39, 5 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It’s not hard... I found the filters option in recent changes and played with it to find out how to use it to make finding vandalism quicker. I was really just trying to get my vandal revert stats up. And I had to find the edits and do the reverts quickly or other people would get them all before I had a chance. Pretty simple. Cyclopedion (talk) 02:03, 5 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Cyclopedion, I can't really estimate how much of your story I believe, and yet I am amused. If you run into that other dude, in the hallway or the cafeteria, tell them I said hi. Drmies (talk) 03:37, 5 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe you need to have more faith in the infectious nature of the spirit of knowledge :) power~enwiki (π, ν) 03:48, 5 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe so. As long as Cyclopedion accepts the one account thingy, I'm good. Drmies (talk) 03:50, 5 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I just noticed the unblock. Thank you! Maybe some day I will make content contributions, but for now I’m happy looking for vandalism. Cyclopedion (talk) 04:45, 5 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Sure thing. Take it easy, Drmies (talk) 17:26, 5 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
