Scope[edit]

This list overlaps with Lists of killings by law enforcement officers in the United States based on the plethora of press coverage specific to killings of Black Americans by law enforcement. It might make sense to expand the scope to be about "killings protested by Black Lives Matters" to include deaths by non-law enforcement officers. czar 02:46, 4 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Good list idea. My 2c: there are hundreds of black people killed by law enforcement in the US every year [1] [2], and BLM would probably say they're protesting all of them. I think "notable killings" is the most workable list criteria. I think the killings by non-law enforcement officers are still killings by people acting "under color of law", whether it be neighborhood watch or citizen's arrest or what have you.
