Results of 'Recent deaths articles' experiment[edit]

Almost everyone successfully edited their article. Unfortunately, several weren't able to register accounts because Wikipedia detected a large number of accounts being opened from the same location and limited new accounts to six. Nevertheless, 8 of the 9 users editing as IPs were able to make a successful edit.

Interesting questions asked:

  • What if the source I am using is wrong?

Technical problems:

  • Different computers at the library were set to display different text sizes. Many had the text size set so large that very little was viewable on each screen, making it harder for users to find and scroll to features on the page. Recommendation: We should set all the teaching computers to show text at a medium or slightly larger than medium setting and all to the same size, so that everyone's view will look the same as the demonstrator's screen. -- Ssilvers (talk) 02:01, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Uploading photos to Wikimedia and downloading into articles[edit]

Hi David. We met at several NYC Wikipedia conferences this year. I am new to Wikipedia and am struggling to upload photos and download them into articles. Do you know where I can get assistance...anyone who does this frequently? Are you planning to cover this at an upcoming NYPL seminar? The online guidance document is a very hard to follow...eats hours and one gets stuck easily. Any assistance or guidance how to upload the first photo would be appreciated.
