Advance notification: Request for later arbitration[edit]

Hi,

I'm writing to you because you have been objective and unbiased in many matters on wikipedia in the past and I trust your judgement. I believe that I am being harassed by an admin who is abusing his powers to make POV edits on the articles on Michael Witzel and the California Hindu Textbook Controversy (he has admitted that he is a student researching such issues and so has a partisan bias on this matter). He has threatened me with blocks and bans and, based on his past history, may do so very soon. Right now, he has only made empty threats in my talk page, so i's not a problem. However, if he blocks me, then I request you to arbitrate this issue. I am informing you in advance because I will not be able to contact you if I am blocked by this admin. His name is dbachman and his user page is : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Dbachmann.

The threats are on: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Subhash_bose#Michael_Witzel

His accusations are baseless as all my edits are directly quoted from references I have cited.

If this potentially volatile situation comes to a head, I request you to be a neutral third party arbitrator on this matter. Thank you.Netaji 23:30, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Update. He has made another veiled threat as of this time on the Michael Witzel talk page.Netaji 07:19, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hindu chat?[edit]

I don't understand. What would be the purpose for it? Plus, I don't even use IRC or know how to. What wrong with the hindu noticeboard?--D-Boy 07:25, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How many people would use it? Also you might want to check out: Wikipedia_talk:Notice_board_for_India-related_topics#Indic_name_needed. It lists articles that need indic names.--D-Boy 07:36, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If you start one, let me know. I'll join. By the way, do you still want to create Hindu barnstar?--D-Boy 07:45, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
How do we go about doing it? i've never created a barnstar.--D-Boy 07:50, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fundy watch[edit]

This page lists you as one of the members. Please also keep a watch on the not-to-nice stuffs that get added in the subpages Tintin (talk) 15:53, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Temper Tantrum[edit]

Yeditor up to his usual tricks again. Wants to delete the anti-Brahmanism article coz it's supposed to be "propoganda" (sic). Please go to the vote page and post your opinion there.Netaji 05:27, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's up for AFD. Now a days, I'm really starting to feel how Bose feels. Feels like wikipedia is becoming battleground.--D-Boy 10:00, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Who is a Dravidian?[edit]

On History of Hinduism: What I mean is that were all people who inhabited India before coming of Aryans homogenous, just one kind of people? We tend to overlook the differences that must have been there. Aupmanyav 14:52, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think I'm being harassed....--D-Boy 08:27, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re:project suggestion on AfD[edit]

Hi DaGizza - I strongly agree with you on the possible creation of a wikiproject to deal with POV-pushing on South Asian political and religious content. Please lemme know if/when you desire to create such a project. You can expect my full support and help. Rama's arrow 08:51, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think the idea was for trying to avoid religious pov in general not just on South Asian articles. Anyways, I like the idea as well (at least how I interpreted it). If you start one (or need help starting one), be sure to drop me a line on my talk page. The Ungovernable Force 09:54, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi- a little chat[edit]

Hi, I wanted to talk to you about ARYAN818, I'm rather fascinated by him. I've seen the contributions he has made and as a Sikh I don't agree with his views. However, one thing that I have noticed about him is that he seems to have a warrior's spirit. If he managed to use a little more logic and balance in doing things- I think he would make a great Sikh. He certainly has a Sikh warrior's spirit, which I admire and respect. Do you know anything about him?--Pun si 00:44, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Countering systemic bias in Hindu-related articles[edit]

Hi, I'm setting up this project as a child project of Wikipedia:WikiProject Countering systemic bias in religion. Will you be a part of this, per your "fundy list" discussions? --BabubTalk 11:39, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The problem is it is a child project with the name "religion". --BabubTalk 06:21, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, you have a different idea from mine. But it is valid. Will you take it up? --BabubTalk 06:53, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think this is bordering on harassment by Holy warrior. The afd on fundy watch is over and I think some people cannot let these things go.--D-Boy 21:04, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah Holywarrior and BhaiSaab are ganging up on me. Already they have one admin User:(aeropagitica) who blocked me for no reason. BhaiSaab vandalizes pages and uses sneaky underhanded tactics to get people blocked, while HolyWarrior makes racist comments and cheats the system.Bakaman Bakatalk 22:09, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your input would be helpful. You can added your comments at User talk:Nightngle--D-Boy 03:51, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Some articles need indic names.--D-Boy 04:03, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Danda[edit]

The Danda (Purnaviram) must be preceded by one space, else it will appear as the diacritic for aa .Cygnus_hansa 09:31, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fonts, etc.[edit]

Hi. I just got a message from you with the link on my talk page. However, the page does not open. Why? - I do not know. --Bhadani 10:05, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

yes, the page opened. But, I could not open it further relating to the one: Hindi. I will try on some other Pc with up-dated operating system, as right now I am using a version which shows only boxes for Indic scripts. Thanks for taking time out to help me. I shall very shortly start contributing to Hindi wikipedia. Best. --Bhadani 10:16, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Progress on hindi wikipedia[edit]

Thanks for your support for my adminship for hindi wikipedia. I observe that bureaucrat Hemanshu is not very active there. Are there more bureaucrats whom I can contact regarding the same?

With regard to the progress of hindi wikipedia, to discuss past experiences and actions needed to make the progress speedy, I am suggesting to have a discussion/meet/chat with hindi wikipedia admins and active users. Let me know what you think about it?

Mitul0520 19:25, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

hi![edit]

hi. How are you? Where are you from?

Re:Non-denominational?[edit]

Hey Girik. Yeah for that column I only took the wording from the opening line of Sydney Grammar School, Sydney Grammar School (colloquially known just as Grammar) is a non-denominational, independent school for boys located in Sydney, Australia founded in 1854. I guess I made a mistake there - I think it should be non-denominational rather than the non-denominational think I have there; my bad. Yeah I'm starting to see a few GPS people roaming the wiki at the moment, but no major editors as yet. Anyway all the best, --mdmanser 12:57, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

August Esperanza Newsletter[edit]

Program Feature: To-Do List
The Esperanza To-Do List is a place where you may list any request, big or small, for assistance. If you need help with archiving your usertalk, for example, all you need to do is list it here and somebody will help you out. Likewise, if you need help with some area of editing on Wikipedia, list it here! Again, any matter, trivial or not, can be placed on this page. However, all matters listed on this page must not be of an argumentative nature. You do not need to be a member of Esperanza (or this program) to place or fulfill requests on this page. If you don't have any requests, consider coming by and fulfilling a few! This program has not been very active, but has lots of potential!
What's New?
In order to help proposed programs become specific enough to make into full-fledged programs, the In development section of the proposals page has been created. Proposals that are promising, but need to be organized in more detail are listed here. Please take a look at what is there, and help the proposals turn into programs.
To improve both the layout and text of the front page, in an attempt to clarify the image of Esperanza, the front page is going to have some redesigning take place. Please take your creative minds to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Front page redesign to brainstorm good ideas.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  1. In order to make sure all users who join Esperanza are welcomed, a list of volunteers who are willing to welcome new Esperanzians is at Wikipedia:Esperanza/Members#Esperanza_welcomers. Please add yourself if you are interested; we want to make sure all new Esperanza members are welcomed!
  2. The In development section of the proposals page has been created.
  3. Proposals page: Some proposals have been moved to the aforementioned "In development" section, some have been left as a proposal, and others have been archived. For those proposals that were a good idea but didn't necessarily constitute a program, General Esperanzial Actions has been created.
  4. Two small pieces of charter reform will be decided on in a straw poll at Wikipedia talk:Esperanza/Governance. One involves filling the position of any councillors who may leave, the other involves reforming the charter.
  5. Until cooperation with the Kindness Campaign is better defined, it remains as a proposed program.
  6. There is a page for discussing the front page redesign.

Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

Hindu haters[edit]

I'm sure you are familiar with User:Lkadvani. Well he was forced to change his username and become User:TerryJ-Ho. In his new avatar he is trying to get myself and User:Subhash_bose banned in some sort of "mediation". He has called the Sangh "fascists" and accused myself, Subhash bose, and even admin Blnguyen of fascism [1] and [2]. He also compared us to "Hindu taliban" here [3]. Since you helped me out in the hate attack RfC filed against me, I though you may want to combat this Persecution of Hindu wikipedians.Bakaman Bakatalk 14:59, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough. You may want to keep a watchful eye on the BJP article though. Just in case.13:50, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks For The Welcome[edit]

User talk:125.23.58.213[edit]

hi, i did not, repeat not, add a commercial link to the page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delhi -- http://plan.architexturez.org to which i have no direct affiliation tracks planning processes in delhi from a professional point of view, it does not have advertising and it does not charge users anything to view content.

if you have anything against the opinions expressed in the site, or a personal prejudice, then you must keep them to yourself instead of calling it a commercial site.

please refer this to another editor at wikipedia.

I'm afraid[edit]

Since they have gotten Netaji out of the way, a user Geek1975 has called me a "sock" and also tried to make a checkser on me [4]. He has placed a lot of anti-Hindu POV on the Gujarat pages and I'm certain he's trying to get Hindu users out of the way. I need people to back me up on this. Hello, Gizza, and thank you for the support on my recent RfA. The final tally was 72/1/0, and I have now been entrusted with the mop. I'll be tentative with the new buttons for a while, and certainly welcome any and all feedback on how I might be able to use them to help the project. All the best, and thanks again! — Deville (Talk) 02:29, 25 August 2006 (UTC

Projects[edit]

Thanks for the invite, but I'm not really a project kind of guy. My interests in Hinduism are too narrow to be comprehensive. I wouldn't be of much help on most of the articles, and the ones I would be helpful on are probably already on my watchlist. Speaking of which, would you mind adding Dattatreya to your watchlist? There are a couple of editors who've been trying to prove that he is the "personification of evil" using a quote taken out of context from the Dattatreya Upanishad and putting their own spin on it. The quote has been expanded to include context, but I doubt they will give up that easily. We'll see... —Hanuman Das 01:42, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
