England and Wales Death Index[edit]

Hi - you have recently added the year of death to some footballer articles I have created, for which I thank you. How can I access this information myself? -- Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 05:08, 14 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you can search the database here, just click the "Exact Only" button under the birthdate so that you can pin down the right person, otherwise you'll get a lot of irrelevant results. If you're ever doing someone who died in the U.S., the Social Security Death Index is here. Also, regarding Bob Foster (footballer), I'm pretty sure he's deceased, as[1] mentions that the person they believed to be the oldest living ex-Wrexham player died in 2011 at the age of 95. Thanks for your help. -- Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 04:40, 16 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've deleted the content with good reason, please see the article talk page. Regards, GiantSnowman 15:16, 18 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Aha, the confusion arose because the article on Pilkington Recs was linked - that's a rugby team. I've de-linked and clarified they were football in the prose. Regards, GiantSnowman 15:28, 18 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"The photo is not cricket related"

Sorry, can you explain a) How isn't the picture cricket related and b) How does this (or anything else) make it inappropriate for an infobox picture?--94.65.35.192 (talk) 16:01, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I intended the performance enhancing drugs column to contain specific allegations that the rider was likely to be using them/their benefits at the time of the ascent. That may not have been clear as I see someone added general doping allegations. I have reinstated my column with a more specific title here.

All the links have proper citation to other Wiki pages.

I don't understand why you ask for proof of relevance. First of all, I'm not sure it is even possible to "prove" relevance, but in my opinion, it is very interesting to know, which riders were likely to have cheated to get their fast ascent times and why the winners of the last two Tours would never get anywhere near the top of that list.

This is an automated message from MadmanBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of List of Southampton F.C. players (25–99 appearances), and it appears to include material copied directly fromhttp://uk.ask.com/wiki/List_of_Southampton_F.C._players.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

Hello, Daemonic Kangaroo, and thank you for your contributions!

An article you worked on List of Southampton F.C. players (fewer than 25 appearances), appears to be directly copied fromhttp://uk.ask.com/wiki/List_of_Southampton_F.C._players. Please take a minute to make sure that the text is freely licensed and properly attributed as a reference, otherwise the article may be deleted.

It's entirely possible that this bot made a mistake, so please feel free to remove this notice and the tag it placed on List of Southampton F.C. players (fewer than 25 appearances) if necessary. MadmanBot (talk) 10:52, 17 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

In That Number - Player of the Season[edit]

Hey bud. I have written up an article for the Southampton F.C. Player of the Season award, but I just need a few In That Number page references from you if possible, please. Does the book talk about the Players of the Season at all? If so, please let me know what the relevant pages are... and I may ask you for a few more things in time. But there's no need to write the article, 'cause I've done that and it's ready to go as soon as I have the relevant references. Andre666 (talk) 12:03, 25 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, thanks for the reply! And lol, yeah, it seems a lot is going to come out about how Cortese has run the club soon! That's annoying about the POTS thing though -- I can't find a better reference either! And I had no idea of procedure, but I do plan to include it in the article... just again couldn't find much! Lame. And thanks for the tips. Where it is mentioned in ITN, though, could you throw some page numbers my way? Need this damned book. Andre666 (talk) 09:12, 26 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the reference, I'll definitely try to get the article up today with appropriate changes. Also... fair enough on the Year/Player thing lol, cheers! Andre666 (talk) 08:13, 27 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I have a list of things I'd like you to give me page references for! Just chuck an en-dash and a number below; if there is none, just put none:
  • The club was founded in 1885 as St Mary's YMA – Saints - A Complete Record p.9
  • They turned professional/entered their first national competition (FA Cup) in 1891 – Saints - A Complete Record p.13
  • They co-founded the Southern League in 1894 – Saints - A Complete Record p.16
  • They won the Southern League title six times between 1896 and 1904 – Saints - A Complete Record pp.21, 23, 25, 29, 33, 35
  • They were elected to the Football League in 1920 as co-founders of the Third Division – Saints - A Complete Record p.64
  • They finished as Third Division runners-up in their first season – Saints - A Complete Record p.5
  • They won the Third Division title the following year – Saints - A Complete Record p.67 (Third Division South)
  • The club were promoted to the First Division for the first time in 1966 – In That Number p. 86
  • They won the FA Cup for the first time in 1976 – In That Number pp.361-363
  • They reached the League Cup final in 1979 – In That Number pp. 286-287
  • Anything on how the award works or anything else
Everything else I'll get online. Help would be appreciated bud! Andre666 (talk) 09:13, 27 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
See the above - In That Number only starts at 1946. I hope this helps. -- Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 19:29, 27 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Bob Browning[edit]

Hi there,

I managed to add some information to the Bob Browning article from the Gordon Macey book - it was all stats with no actual mention of Browning at all in the season descriptions (although the descriptions of those earlier seasons are at best a couple of paragraphs long). It seems he had a great first season, and then only scored a goal a season for his second and third seasons. Miyagawa(talk) 10:40, 15 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
