Choosing a topic[edit]

Hey guys, So I think first thing is first. For our project would we want to do a stub article, which would be one that is already started just needs to be fixed up and add some more information. Or, do we want to start a completely new article one that hasn't been done before. Personally, I am leaning towards doing a stub article but that is just me I am totally open to any ideas that you guys are thinking about! Marissa.bridgeman (talk) 14:25, 14 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A stub article works with me! I'll start thinking about topics tonight and send you guys my ideas and if I find any interesting articles I'll share those as well. --DaltonEngland (talk) 00:48, 15 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Okay sounds good to me! I will look up a couple too and see what sounds interesting! I don't know if our group is more interested in people, or like a theory! There might be more information if we were to do a person! Marissa.bridgeman (talk) 01:07, 15 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I am fine with either a theory or a person. I think we should all take some time today to look more in-depth; I did a little bit last night. And then rejoin later and see what we all found!! I agree with you Marissa that there might be more information about a person so let's see what we can find!! Amy.duchene (talk) 20:48, 15 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The stub article that goes with our assigned chapter, "Psychology Gets Personality," can be found at this link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Society_for_Personality_and_Social_Psychology I know we agreed that a person would be easier, but I just wanted to post this here as one suggestion. --DaltonEngland (talk) 19:20, 15 September 2016 (UTC)DaltonEngland[reply]

That one might also be good since it goes with our chapter. I think we have to give him 2 if not 3 suggestions for topics we might be interested in. So we can always mention that one with 1 or 2 other articles. Marissa.bridgeman (talk) 19:28, 15 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

That would be a good one just because it looks like there can be a lot more to add to that article! Let's find a couple people too or another theory and then we can have a few options! I am still looking for people, right now kind of just exploring so I hope to have some interesting ones soon!Amy.duchene (talk) 20:51, 15 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This Marvin Zuckerman article has hardly any information at all on it and it might be interesting. His focus was on sensation seeking. Not entirely sure what that might be, but there's definitely a lot of room for improvement on it. Here's the link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvin_Zuckerman --DaltonEngland (talk) 22:26, 15 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I like that one a lot too Dalton. I have a couple and I will get them posted ASAP! Sorry about the delay but those if we need are two really good ones that have room for improvement!Amy.duchene (talk) 01:08, 16 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I just looked up some stuff on him! That sounds pretty interesting should we tell him those are our top 2 or should we add one more in? Do we email him our top ones to him or does he just look at it on this talk page? Marissa.bridgeman (talk) 01:25, 16 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

From how it seems on the assignment 3 on blackboard is that we just indicate our two topics!! Does not say anything about emailing him.Amy.duchene (talk) 03:33, 16 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the late response, my roommate got a flat tire yesterday evening and I had to rescue him. So it looks like those two articles are our choices at the moment, with the Zuckerman article being our top choice? --DaltonEngland (talk) 16:01, 16 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yes! I would agree with those being our top two choices! Marissa.bridgeman (talk) 16:58, 16 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Your topic: Marvin Zuckerman[edit]

Hi Group 12: I like your top choice of Zuckerman. His work on sensation seeking has been very influential. I was surprised that his Wikipedia article is so short. You should not have any trouble finding enough new information to generate a nice article. J.R. Council (talk) 05:00, 19 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Lead Section[edit]

Hey guys,

So I posted a very minor rough draft of my lead section. I was not sure how detailed I should be with the information I provided, because I did not want to end up repeating all of the same things in the lead section into the main parts of the article. I also was not sure what to do about the sources, so I just put a quick citation of the two references I used to write it. I'm going to talk to Zuckerman and try and find out information regarding his birth records as well as some information about his parents. Let me know what you guys think and we can use this talk page for the feedback! DaltonEngland (talk) 04:10, 26 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Amy, I thought your lead section was a good start as well. I like that both of our lead sections so far have included similar information. That shows that we are on the same page regarding the route we want to take in writing our article. I'm not sure what exactly Dr. Council is looking for in these lead section drafts, but the only thing I would question in your draft is your references. I don't know if we need to include them right now or not, but as long as we are able to include all of them in the final draft we will be good. I'm waiting for an email back from Zuckerman right now for his birth information and some of his parents info, so I'll add that in as soon as I get it. If you guys have anything you want me to ask him, feel free to let me know. I'm probably going to call him before our next assignment is due, so I think it would be good to make a list of questions or anything else that we might want to know, especially if we can't find it within the articles we find. Also, I believe we are supposed to leave our feedback here in the talk page rather than in the sandbox itself. But anyways, good job :) DaltonEngland (talk) 01:13, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Dalton- I think this is a great start. Once we receive information about his early life then this will make it more full and descriptive. We may then also be able to add him things that motivated him to begin research on his developments, especially Sensation Seeking. I do think this is a good start to a lead section. It is descriptive of what led him to sensation seeking which is a great start. Is there a way we can make it flow better? I feel as though if we add more information about his work at New York University and how it lead him to his career that maybe it will help flow. Thoughts?Amy.duchene (talk) 01:42, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Marissa, your lead section is great! I think it flows really well and touches all the main points that we need for the article. Writing the introduction/abstract is not my best writing quality, so a sigh of relief seeing both of your guys' lead sections. DaltonEngland (talk) 04:17, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Amy-I really like how yours flows. It's very informative, and really gets the point of sensation seeking across. I also liked how you mentioned the sensation-seeking scale. I think that is really important to mention. By combining parts of all of our lead sections I think we can make a really informative, and well written lead section. Marissa.bridgeman (talk) 04:20, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Dalton-I really like the personal stuff about his life. I had trouble finding that in some of our references. But, I am glad you found it. Once we can get the specifics on his personal life I think it will make a really great start to a lead section Marissa.bridgeman (talk) 04:20, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Marissa- I do think your lead section is great! I like how it touches all the main points and includes information about sensation seeking. I think with using your reliable information and the information from both Dalton and mine then we can create a really good lead section. There was great reference information in your lead section that was a great start to topics about Marvin Zuckerman! Amy.duchene (talk) 19:54, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
