Fair use rationale for Image:StockFootage1.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:StockFootage1.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Orphaned non-free media (Image:StockFootage1.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:StockFootage1.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 21:06, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

your work on file images[edit]

Hi Dan. I saw your work at Star Trek: Bridge Commander, restoring the image which a bot had deleted, after I had added it. Just want to tell you, thanks very much for your help. I just added the image with a new upload and resolution. I didn't know you had added the same image; I thought somehow my own file had returned. Anyway, just wanted to tell you, thanks very much for the help. it's very good to know that others are helping to keep these files current, and to get the maximum information added, even if bots occasionally cause some problems. thanks. --Steve, Sm8900 (talk) 13:36, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bridge commander[edit]

I reverted your deletion of Star Trek:Excalibur and included the source page for the material. I have provided this information to further improve the article on Star Trek Bridge Commander.

Well I can see that you are clearly trying to act to improve the project, sadly that does not mean your edit meets our policies.

This is a reliable source of information and complies with Wikipedia's policy for citing sources.

I do not understand how you have come to that conclusion - it's not reliable as we class it in wikipedia - even worse, it's clear crystalball - you are talking about a mod that doesn't even exist at this moment.

I ask that you refrain from simply deleting this material without good cause. You are welcome to discuss this issue on my user talk page, and I encourage you not to begin an editing war.

There will be no edit war - if you readd material that is a) not notable and b) does not use RS sources, I'll just get other experienced editors involved and it will be removed - it's not even a borderline issue - it's not notable and the source is not considered "good" in wikipedia terms. If you diagree, I suggest you get a third view - I doubt any experienced editor will tell you any different.
