Honeygain tagged for deletion

[edit]

Hello Dancing Raccoon, I wanted to let you know that I've tagged Honeygain for deletion because the article is too promotional for an encyclopedia. If you feel that this assessment is incorrect, you can either edit the article to remove the promotional parts or you can click on the "Contest this deletion" button and explain it on the talk page, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. – Thjarkur (talk) 12:43, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The article also does not mention how the subject is notable apart from one Dev.to blogger saying they liked it. From what I can tell, the company has received little to no independent coverage in reliable sources. If you're close to the company you may be interested in our guidelines for editors with a conflict of interest. – Thjarkur (talk) 12:49, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

your reason here the account is owned by me and has been owned by me for a long time. I am not sure why the account was blocked at all. The email was changed for the first time in a long time as I no longer had access to the old email address.

Accept reason:

The stated reason for the block is a compromised account; I am satisfied that the account is not compromised, so I will remove the block. This decisions should not be interpreted to preclude that there may be other concerns with your editing; I might suggest you become familiar with current policies and notability before undertaking further edits. 331dot (talk) 16:16, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It is an old edit that was under my consideration regarding the neutrality of the article. Doing some further research (throughout 10 years, as you can see), I do realize that this comment was largely misinformed. Dancing Raccoon (talk) 14:31, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
What made you decide to write about Honeygain? Blablubbs (talkcontribs) 14:46, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
As explained in Thjarkur's talk page, I am a user of their service and I like it a lot. Frankly, I was honestly surprised by the fact that they did not have an article on Wikipedia yet, so I had decided to create it myself. Hopefully, the user community will expand on it.
Yes, I do fully understand it, however, I had always been more of a "lurker" rather than an editor. As I discovered that this service does not have a Wikipedia article, I had decided to go full in. It is rather unfortunate that this had caused suspicions. Dancing Raccoon (talk) 15:30, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • GeneralNotability Do you have any additional comment? 331dot (talk) 15:32, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The account had previously been used for intermittent editing (largely related to Lithuania, their deleted history also has a couple of poorly-cited stub articles), took a multi-year break, then came back to add a fully-formed puff piece on Honeygain with lots of citations. That was a sufficiently large change in behavior that I suspected the account had been compromised by a spammer. No objections to you (or another admin) unblocking if you are convinced by the user's explanation. GeneralNotability (talk) 15:54, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
