Year-by-year stats for NASL articles[edit]

Hello! Excellent work on NASL articles, but the year-by-year table your using is not the one I would use. I use this one:

Year Record Regular Season Finish Playoffs
1967 14-7-11 2nd, Western Division Did Not Qualify
1968 12-6-14 3rd, Gulf Division Did Not Qualify
1969 3-2-11 4th, NASL Did Not Qualify
1970 5-2-17 3th, Eastern Division, Northern Division Did Not Qualify
1971 6-5-13 4th, Southern Division Did Not Qualify
1972 7-3-4 1st, Southern Division Runners-up
1973 7-5-7 2nd, Southern Division Did Not Qualify
1974 4-1-15 4th, Central Division Did Not Qualify
1975 13-9 1st, Central Division Semi-Finals
1976 5-19 5th, Pacific Conference, Western Division Did Not Qualify
1977 12-14 2nd, Atlantic Conference, Northern Division First round

That table is a sample from the St. Louis Stars and I think is a bit more infomative than the one your currently using. Just a suggestion, again, GREAT WORK! Cheers. Minfo 20:14, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I would say that that is a very good stats table. Minfo 22:00, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Paterson Panthers[edit]

I found your article on the Paterson Panthers basketball team - there was also a Paterson Panthers football team with quite a bit more history - my father, Hap Moran came out of the NFL and played for them in 1934 and coached them in 1936. I have programs running through 1949. If I wrote an article about the team would it be possible to name one Paterson Panthers Basketball Team and the other Paterson Panthers Football Team Mike Moran Revmoran 01:43, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Brandon Braves, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Avengers3 8.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Avengers3 8.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 14:21, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Template:End MLS YBY[edit]

A tag has been placed on Template:End MLS YBY, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia per CSD g2.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. Balloonguy 23:35, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Shreveport/Bossier Lions[edit]

A tag has been placed on Shreveport/Bossier Lions requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guidelines for people and for organizations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Proposed deletion of Detroit Wheels (soccer)[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Detroit Wheels (soccer), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Unreferenced for nearly 3 years, fails verifiability policy

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. I have nominated Detroit Wheels (soccer), an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Detroit Wheels (soccer). Team names[edit]

I noticed you created the articles for Boston Wonder Workers, Paterson Silk Sox, and Providence Gold Bugs and the issue with these articles has to do with their names. They might have to be changed. I had done quite a bit of research for that time period and I began to realize that these might not actually be the teams official names. I will not claim to have researched all possible sources. However for the Paterson team, the name Silk Sox has never come up. They are always called Paterson F.C. The Paterson Silk Sox was definitely a baseball team. In fact writers, on occasion, would borrow names from a team of one sport and use it for the team of a different sport from the same city. Boston was always Boston or Boston Soccer Club. Wonder workers does appear but I recall one article the indicates the moniker was more fan made due to a string of performances. As for Providence, they are a typical 'F.C.' although clam diggers appears from time to time it seems it is also along the lines of a writer's artistic license. They were managed by Sam Fletcher and local papers called them the 'Fletchermen' and on a few occasions you might see the term 'Fletcher's men'. This was also true of Fall River. They were often called the 'Markmen' with the occasional 'Mark's men'. The term 'Marksmen' seems to be a space saving technique that newspapers used. Using a coach/manager/owners name was not unheard of. St. Louis had a few like Kavanaughs, Raticans, Marres, etc. Also see Mackmen. The Providence article also says the team changed names to Gold Bugs. This name virtually does not exist for the soccer team(but it does for polo). To date I have found only one soccer reference for gold bugs which would indicate, as above, artistic license. After Fletcher's time with the team they were commonly referred to as the 'Light Blues'. The only sources that use the names above are the US Soccer History Archives. While I respect the JLA as super historians, they admit that the archive is not error free and that only continued research will reveal more accurate data. They may have taken some liberties in interpreting sources. So be careful with what sources are used. For example, while NY Times is readily available, other less availble papers like NY Herald, Boston Globe, or Providence Journal offer a different body of info sometimes quite a bit more. An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Relationships among New York Giants soccer teams. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Relationships among New York Giants soccer teams. 1921-22 Falco F.C. season moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, 1921-22 Falco F.C. season, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Harrison F.C., you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Harrison Park (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

American seasonal articles[edit]

Hey so I have noticed that you have started creating the seasonal article for the first version of the American Soccer League and I was about to put out that it would fail WP:GNG. But after realizing that, I will put up a point and that is to use – instead of - as that is what most of the seasonal articles is based off. Also remember to not forget about prose in the articles as their is a lot of seasonal articles which would probably fail because of the fact that it's just stats.
