Hindu leader infobox
Hi dB, I fixed the issues with Infobox Hindu leader. Please check and let me know. Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 06:36, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
- I have added guidelines and how you can help back. It shows up now. It does not show up when small=yes. The problem with your edit was you had added the code to the philosopy section, you should add it to the Hinduism section. -- Ganeshk (talk) 17:24, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

Devanagari spelling of Sanskrit words
I can help you by adding Devanagari spellings to articles about Hinduism. However please first check the versions of the other languages for these articles. Also check the names of the articles of the Hindi/Sanskrit/Marathi/etc Wikipedias if they exist. You can also use http://members.cox.net/apamnapat/sitemap.html as a nice ressource. Advice about photographs for Wiki articles
Dear Dangerous boy: I noticed that you have made significant contributions in providing photographs to Wiki articles. I thought I'd consult you about putting up photographs on an article that I'm working on (Ilaiyaraaja). Now, the only place where I can find photographs of this musician is on the Internet on (i) the official webpage of this musician (raaja.com), (ii) on various open fan websites and on (iii) closed fan fora and groups (such as YahooGroups) (not sure if the photographs were legally obtained and published in these latter two cases). I have no photographs of the musician which I have taken on my own, and therefore can call a free use photograph. So what would be the best approach to go about obtaining some good photographs of this musician? One website I know contains an excellent collection of photographs of this musician at work, and from his past, which would be great to add to the Wikipedia article since it describes about his early career and so on. Was wondering if you can give me your opinion on this issue about how to go about getting good photographs of this musicians considering these days Wikipedia does not encourage the use of fair use images. Thanking you, AppleJuggler 02:01, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
- D-boy: Thank you for your advice on what sort of photographs are appropriate, and on what to include in the upload summary. Cheers. AppleJuggler 03:43, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

I created the article stub Shiva Ling and I support its merger with Lingam. I think this should be uncontroversial, so if you know how to speed it through, please go ahead. A suggestion: It may be a good idea to have a redirect from "Shiva Ling" (spelling ?) to the Lingam article, since others like me may not find the appropriate article otherwise. - Hello again! I watch the WikiProject India page and noticed that you removed Christianity from the list. Though, it originiated in the Middle East (like Zorastrianism), it is still India's third largest religion and should be kept on the project page, as the latter two also have there role in contemporary India. As a result, I have added Christianity, Islam, and Judaism to the project page. I hope this helps. If you would like to discuss this with me further, please feel free to contact me. Thanks for your understanding, AnupamTalk 01:52, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Re:I might need some help
dB, You already know blocks are punitive and taken as a last resort. It is not a easy thing to do. WikiProjects need to be started (and will work only) when some people are willing to contribute to it. He has just started WikiProject South Asia to prove his point. Just let him have his minute of fame. Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 05:38, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, Dangerous-Boy will never be convinced by any rational argument. He is an Indian nationalist who is tagging every Pakistan related article with a tag with Republic of India's flag. He is practically trying to claim territories of other countries as he calls Republic of India same as pre-1947 Subcontinent. He was tried to be brought into a rational discussion, where despite all the arguments against his point, he continued aggressively tagging Pakistan related articles and in some cases he even removed Pakistani Tag. You edit a Pakistan related historical article and within few minutes D-Boy is there to tag it with indian flag. It is extremely provacative and offensive and politically outrageous. But NO. He won't be blocked. Becuase he's got Wikipedia Admins from India on his side. Szhaider 15:37, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
- There isn't a grounds for a block...at least not unless both are blocked....Having said that, making dubious block requests will make people not take him seriously. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 05:43, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
- Namaste DB. I also doubt that you will get blocked. The Wikipedia community highly values and respects you ( see your collection of awards on your userpage =] ). I don't feel that you were doing anything wrong either. In my opinion the best solution was suggested by Ganeshk: the pre=yes solution which will use the Pillars of Ashoka for pre-independence articles. The only place where I differ is that the link on the template should direct to History of India (note: not History of the Republic of India) instead of Indian subcontinent, as he suggested. Like, you, I would normally advocate leaving the Indian flag but I know that if we opt to, some users will not be satisfied. As a result, I support the proposal of Ganeshk. If you need my help in the future or if the problem escalates, please feel free to contact me. Thanks for your request. Shanti, AnupamTalk 06:46, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

I am wondering if the words native scripts include the regional script plus Hindi or only the regional script. Comment you made on Wikipedia:Village pump
[1] " I'd really like to see you try to get rid of the arabic scripts because the muslim guild will fight you until the bitter end about such an issue." This comment is rather crude and might fit as being incivil. Please refrain from such comments as they make the atmosphere here in Wikipedia rather tense, which can cause such strong disputes that causes hatred between or among users. I hope you understand this, and try to be nice! Thank you -- Mar de Sin Speak up! 21:04, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
- I did not make a threat at all - i didn't even intend on that comment being even a warning, please assume good faith. You cannot be certain the Muslim Guild will "fight you until the bitter end about such an issue", and the act of assuming this, as well as targeting only them as being the ones who will resist such a policy (I'm sure others will also resist) is not civil. And your comments about me adding the "Urdu script" do not make sense to me because I do not wish to discuss why Urdu is relevant on every single Bollywood article; an agreement had already been reached a few weeks ago on Talk:Bollywood that adding Urdu script is relevant to Hindi-Hindustani-Urdu films. I do not add Urdu script "all over the place", only when it is relevant. I do respect Hindi/Devanagari and add Hindi script to every single article pertaining to Bollywood films that have the Urdu script. And your mockery of my writing tone (including copying two of my sentences from my comment above into your own reply directed toward me) was really unnecessary and sarcastic; I try to be as nice as possible and do not appreciate being mocked because of this. From both of these comments, I think it's safe to say that you have at least infringed at least upon the policy Assume good faith, if not civility. I would like to ask you why you think I am creating a tense situation more than anyone, and why you think I am "posting posting urdu scripts all over the place", when I only place Urdu script, just like any other script, whenever I deem it relevant; if another user has a plausible complaint on a specific set of articles, I would be happy to remove it myself. - If the town has played a role in the post-1947 history of Pakistan, I would support leaving the Pakistan template on the talk page. If not, not. — goethean ॐ 22:30, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
- For the Taxila article in particular, I would support the removal of the Pakistan template because Pakistan is not mentioned in the article and the subject has not played a role in Pakistani history. We will have to look at each case individually. — goethean ॐ 23:39, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
Hmm, wouldn't it be more useful to have it appear as a regular navigation template regardless of where it's placed? Kirill Lokshin 23:07, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
- Pretty neat. The India one is a bit wider than it needs to be because of the full statistics table, though; I'd definitely suggest that the links are more useful to have than that. Kirill Lokshin 23:10, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
- db, Krill, I removed the project stats and made the navbar shorter for the military history project. This is similar to what was done with WP:INCINE. -- Ganeshk (talk) 23:20, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
Vedi Metal
Hi D-boy, yeah, I think, we'll have to redirect it to Rudra only. It is really sad that a few single-purpose account users are deleting genres so easily. It seems no one is interested in saving Vedic metal except the two of us. Anyways, let's just redirect it. And by the way, why is someone changing the templates from WP:India to that of South Asia. In my opinion, South Asia is not even a proper term. Why was the person allowed to start a WikiProject on that name ? If there's a discussion on this topic, do tell me about it. Bye for now. And, you are really doing a good job. Keep it up and keep rockin' --NRS | T/M\B 06:05, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
Re:Script box
Korean box is very simple. They have a standard set of 4 languages. India has too many languages to fit into one box. I will have to come up with generalized template that accepts any four/five languages (let us set a limit for 5) and shows them in a table. I will work on it and let you know when it is ready. Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 07:07, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
- You left out Telugu, Odissi, Marathi and many more. I was not going hard-code the languages into box. The template will allow for any list of languages to be passed on to it. You will better understand it when I get a mock-up ready. Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 07:18, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
- Something similar. The box will have parameters like lang1_name, lang2_name, etc. and lang1_script, lang2_script and so on. You get the idea. -- Ganeshk (talk) 07:23, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for the insight. Please realize that Urdu is one of India's official languages too. And in the Khan discussion (which took place more than half a year ago, so my memory is weak), the majority agreed with including the Urdu; in that discussion you said there was no way he spoke Urdu, although, it is almost impossible to find sources on which languages a Bollywood actor speaks; ancestry usually wins over (still no info for some actors; this is exactly why there is so much differences on which languages to put on these actors' pages). I added Evidence to the Evidence page-- that is not harassment, it is evidence. And as I used "crude" to describe your comment that I found harmful, it is only constructive criticism, after all I hope you avoid comments like that in the future.
May I ask why you switched the order of Perso-Arabic script and Devanagari script on the Sindhi language page? Not that order is so important, but without an explanation on the talkpage, your intention for the change is unclear. I think, since Sindhi is much more prevalent in Pakistan, where the Perso-Arabic script is used, Perso-Arabic script should be stress, like [what Omniglot does]. And a minor correction if you dont mind; the correct spelling is Zai jian not zai jin :) -- Mar de Sin Speak up! 21:12, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
Please have a look at Namkha, Phurba and Singing Bowls
I noticed your interests and involvement in Wiki projects. I am not hooked into these and would like to be. Though these items (Namkha, Phurba, Trul Khor and Singing Bowls) are not part of your core activity I thought they may be of interest. I am still learning and would like someone favourable to have a look over my edits. Someone keeps on reverting my edits to Singing Bowl, I created a new article in Namkha and my word use is awkward in Phurba though i really would like the intention of the information I have included somehow preserved. Maybe in footnotes or something. I could do with some guidance or if you could link me with the appropriate project I would be very thankful. As you are interested in weapons are you interested in editing the iconographic reference of lotus to include that as a weapon? How about a scroll? - that too is a weapon. Is there any substantive difference between a tool, weapon or instrument? I loved Ninja Scroll btw! B9 hummingbird hovering 01:55, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Personal opinion should not influence things like that. I hope you agree that the Perso-Arabic is more relevant for the Sindhi language in terms of demographics. Thanks. Mar de Sin Speak up! 20:00, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
- I'm very sorry, I don't understand what you mean by "foreign". After all, the Roman script used for English was brought along by the Romans, runes being the original script. But the English language article doesn't have runes in it at all. And Urdu is rooted in Prakrit/Sanskrit, but since Devanagari script isn't used in Urdu (except among Indians who cannot read Urdu script but like Urdu Shaayri), it doesn't not appear in the Urdu page. As historical origin is not important in the script section, as Kazakh language doesn't have the Orkhon script in it, which was the original one used; and Turkish language, originally written in the Arabic script but not anymore, has no Arabic there. So Perso-Arabic script is the script used by the large majority of Sindhi speakers, and that's what matters the most more than origins or personal preference. PIE articles
could you please stop adding the "India history" template to Indo-European related articles? If we tagged these articles with all countries with Indo-European languages, there would be like fifty templates on those talkpages. The point of Wikiprojects is to focus on a special topic, not to tag anything loosely related. Merry Christmas!
Dear Dangerous-Boy,
Love came to a stable on that very special night to bring us out of darkness into His glorious light. May Jesus touch your life with gladness and warm your heart with love as we celebrate His birth. I hope you have a Blessed Christmas, AnupamTalk 06:14, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
- I thought I'd send out the messages a little early before everyone got busy with Chrismas-oriented activities. =) Hope you had a Merry Christmas and have Happy New Year. With warm regards, AnupamTalk 06:29, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
Zen books
I've read lots of Zen books. Doesn't mean anything without meditation practice -- at which I've been doing very very badly lately. Zen Mind Beginner's Mind is a good book and has been helpful to many people. However, my favorite book is Everyday Zen by Joko Beck. It's concrete and extremely bracing. She's death on self-pity and self-absorption. Zora 03:08, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
Has 36 Google hits! AFD or Prod it and it will be deleted very soon. Might even get away if you put a speedy notice (CSD A7 & G12) GizzaChat © 08:23, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
Yes he was
It was a very scary and distressing time when I heard about his death. The time and how he died was what made it worse/ He died alone in a forest and he was only seventeen, so much of his life was ahead of him. Regarding Pakhub, I don't understand your "evil glee" comment, but I can assure you if you place a speedy tag, someone will delete it without hesitation. And thanks for your christmas greeting. I wish you likewise and a happy new year. GizzaChat © 12:06, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
- As you see, I've deleted it. If they complain, I may revive and send it to AfD. Then everyone (not just Indians) will vote speedy delete and they'll realise that it doesn't deserve to be on Wikipedia. Have a good day. GizzaChat © 12:49, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
- OMG, I was right. They recreated it and it was speedied! GizzaChat © 09:15, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

What languages do you speak then? T*E*H Kingrom 17:17, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
- Already got under Hindi. I plan on being too active on en wiki only after I finish work on hindi wiki, and it also depends on how well I work on my spanish. If you know hindi you can type in roman scriopt (on a user subpage) and I'll transfer scripts to hindi wiki. Btw, check out the IIT Bombay hindi dictionary and Sanskrit glossary.T*E*H Kingrom 04:40, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
Hindu Dharma
To make my position on the topic clear: I find any of the following three alternatives acceptable, although I'll list them in order of decreasing preference, (1) No mention of Hindu Dharma (since IMO the word Dharma in this case serves the same purpose as the suffix -ism in English) (2) mention Hindu Dharma in the Notes section along with alternatives such as Vedic Dharma, (3) leave it as it is. Basically, I think the whole issue is overblown and minor relative to other deficiencies in the article; and almost any compromise solution that can be worked out will be acceptable to me.
The reason I am posting this comment on your talk page rather than the Hinduism talk page is that I don't want it to spark off a tangential debate on whether "the issue is overblown" or not. :-) Abecedare 10:06, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

U didnt understand my question. I asked what is the criteria for the Indian language script in indian history articles? Vishu123 17:55, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
leave the christians in Pakistan article alone
The articles for deletion site clearly stated that I'm supposed to place that tag if it's to be nominated for deletion. The instructions also advise me to keep the article on my watchlist, should anyone vandlize the tag.Leave the tag alone,or I'll report you for vandalism.Nadirali 12:21, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
You still can't remove the tag until the vote takes place. It's considered vandalism.Nadirali 13:44, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
LOL I think you're too late for that.Nadirali 13:48, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for your support
Thank you for your support in the RfA on my behalf. It is an honor to have received your expression of confidence. To be chosen as an administrator requires a high level of confidence by a broad section of the community. Although I received a great deal of support, at this time I do not hold the level of confidence required, and the RfA did not pass. It is my wish that I will continue to deserve your confidence. Sincerely, --BostonMA talk 19:08, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
Why did you plaster my talk page...?
Hi Dangerous-Boy: I have no idea why you sent me this [3] without any explanation/s. I am not interested in Hinduism, so don't do it again unless there is something specific you want me to respond to. Thanks. IZAK 21:58, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
Funny Swastika
Hi Dangerous-Boy: Take a look at these templates:
- {{Hindu Links}} (top left)
- {{Hinduism small}} (bottom)
- {{HinduFestivals}} (top right)
- {{Hindu Deities and Texts}} (top right)
- {{User WikiProject Hindu mythology}} (left)
with the displayed prominently. Honestly, of all of Hinduism's symbols' did this one have to get "headline" billing on these templates? Alternatives are aplenty if one were to look around on articles listed on {{Hindu Deities and Texts}} where there are dozens of less offensive symbols that could be chosen for the same purpose. While the swastika may be ok with some Hindus, it should not be flashed around "in all innocence" because for the rest of the world that was caught up in World War II it was the symbol of literal EVIL, DEATH and DESTRUCTION emanating from the Nazis. It was Hitler's personal diabolical "symbol of choice" and for that reason it is VERY far from neutral, no matter in what context it is used. It violates Wikipedia:Civility to have it displayed in such an "in your face" fashion on these Hindu templates, giving it a dubious "place of pride" it does not deserve. Need one say more? IZAK 23:01, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
- Hi: NOTE: Talk about this is now centralized at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Hinduism#Use of Swastika. Thanks. IZAK 02:29, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

Hello. Once again im blocked for digging out the truth at the behest of Mr.Kannambadi. Anyways I need ur advice. suppose I think a book used by a editor is partisan and not-neutral,where to ask justice for? Given this red-tapism here and seniors do nothing than pampering the likes of Mr.kannambadi. 59.95.39.200 07:28, 5 January 2007 (UTC) Plz answer here only.
- Discuss your issue on the Hinduism talk page if it has to Hinduism article. That's the best way.--D-Boy 14:48, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
What's the idea of having Changiskhan's or Genghiskhan's comment on your user page?

Just wondering
What language do you know that requires the Devanagari script. I know that you don't know Hindi. If you don't know any language, what made you learn the script? Regards GizzaChat © 23:00, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
8) shame on u D-Boy... not knowing Hindi, and you call yourself a Hindutvadi? ;) Anyways Girik, its really interesting that u know Sanskrit given that u've grown up down under! I did take it for my GCSE's but suck badly at it! अमेय आर्यन DaBrood© 23:40, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
- I studied it for two years can was very good at it. Wikipedia has kept me remembering most of my Sanskrit. I should add a table to the Sandhi page when I get the time and find my textbook again. GizzaChat © 00:33, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- Hah! I can speak Tamil native speaker but I cant read it. I cant speak Hindi but I can read nagari like a native reader. Kingrom (talk · contribs) dabbles in a bunch of languages it seems.Bakaman 03:01, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
