Editprotected[edit]

Hello there, Danielh32, and welcome to Wikipedia. I'm just wondering what you are trying to do with the {{edit protected}} tag on your user page... is there a problem you would like to be resolved? — This, that, and the other (talk) 10:04, 3 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for pointing that out. I was just playing around with the tags, so I'll take that out.--Danielh32 (talk) 03:02, 8 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:"Redbird" R26 - R28 - R29 - R33 - R36.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:"Redbird" R26 - R28 - R29 - R33 - R36.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. 21:57, 10 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Sonic1-mastersystemcasefront.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. moogsi (blah) 06:41, 2 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

SVGs[edit]

Hi Daniel, and thank you for your contributions to images, both here and at Commons. I saw that you re-upload a lot of raster images as SVGs, even if the content is not vector. There is not very much point in this, as the output is the same as before, and the 'conversion' is only a change of file extension. SVG images are really just for actual vector images, with no raster parts. If the image has already been uploaded as a png or gif, it only needs to remain in that form instead of being an identical file with a different ending. If you redraw the images as vectors using appropriate software, then they could be uploaded as SVGs. But that is the only time a file should have an SVG ending, if it is all vector. I am telling you this to give advice and help do the more correct and productive thing. Regards, Rcsprinter123 (gossip) @ 00:07, 21 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, if you open the file with a general image editor or viewer, it will show as a vector image. The conversions are not just the file extension, but the image as a whole has been converted (using Inkscape). It has smoother edges when zooming in and out, and helps when looking at the images in detail. Thank you for your consideration. Danielh32 (talk) 23:23, 21 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

deOrphaning script[edit]

Hello everyone! I was just working on responding to a couple bug reports for a script that I worked up as part of a request from this project, and I noticed that only a couple people (who weren't even on this mailing list) are actually using the script. A little history on the script: In March of 2014, Jim Cartar came to my user talk page and said he needed some help in acquiring a script for a backlog drive that he was working on that could keep track of and score deOrphanings for a scored backlog drive. I took that request to the project's talk page (BackLog Drive "DO" (De-Orphaning) script proposal) and there was near unanimous support for this. I thought about the proposal and decided the best way to do it was to build a new script (which is still no where near as comprehensive as Manishearth's OrphanTabs) and build into it a mechanism that will make BLD scoring easy.

What I'm wondering at this point is, since there appears to be only two people using the script, should I continue to develop this script with a goal of using it for scoring BLDs or just debug the existing script and leave it at that. Thanks for any replies or comments.

If you wish to opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself from the mailing list or alternatively to opt-out of all massmessage mailings, you may add Category:Opted-out of message delivery to your user talk page.
