The Open Door

Hi Danny; I noticed the section "Background, titling and artwork" uses a large proportion of direct quotations and I've templated it appropriately. Their number can be reduced by paraphrasing as needed, or removing / eliding the less-relevant and waffly ones. The problem also exists elsewhere in the article, but this section is the worst affected. quotations Cheers, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 23:29, 6 January 2016 (UTC)
This was also a problem on their self titled effort but I fixed a lot of that. This must've been something Petergriffin9901 was talking about when he reviewed it in 2011. Sorry to have put a tough problem like this one on you. dannymusiceditor ~talk to me!~ 02:14, 7 January 2016 (UTC)

Guns N' Roses

Hi, yes I think he might have been replaced too, but I can't find any defenite proof of that yet. Do you have any defentite proof?

RE: A Thousand Suns

Yes, but as far as I know, there's nothing prohibiting us from using genre tags like that at sites, just as long as it's not AllMusic. While the prose just says "experimental", also considered the term is also sometimes used as a shorter term for experimental rock, rather than experimental music. Just like how people sometimes say "alternative" instead of "alternative rock", even though a number of "alternative" genres exist. Kokoro20 (talk) 01:43, 25 January 2016 (UTC)

The Second Stage Turbine Blade

Hey, speaking of genres, I recently attempted to add some cited genres to The Second Stage Turbine Blade. However, it was reverted, because another editor didn't think that some of the sources are reliable and that others didn't support the genres in question explicitly enough. So feel free to add some input here: Talk:The Second Stage Turbine Blade#Genres - pop punk, emo, post-hardcore. Kokoro20 (talk) 08:27, 27 January 2016 (UTC)

Some input

Hey Danny, can you leave your opinion about renaming Get Rich or Die Tryin' at the nomination page? Appreciate your time.--Retrohead (talk) 16:58, 30 January 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for the peer review request.

Sorry that I didn't submit it myself. I was busy figuring out how to upload audio files correctly and I also was improving the references/bibliography/further reading section of the nu metal article.

Statik N (talk) 01:38, 2 February 2016 (UTC)

No prob Statik! Might want to watchlist it if you haven't already. Speaking of bibliography, the accessdates are in an inconsistent format, I've noticed. Either put them all in yyyy-mm-dd format, or all in standard, when you have time of course. dannymusiceditor ~talk to me!~ 01:53, 2 February 2016 (UTC)

Sound samples

I didn't remove the files "Engine No. 9" and "Sic". See this link.

I think what I'll do is reupload "Headup" and "Nookie" but put that number to 64 like I did with the "Falling Away from Me" audio. Someone will have to delete the "Headup" and "Nookie" audio files that have a number that's too high.

Statik N (talk) 20:57, 2 February 2016 (UTC)

Thanks, I did end up finding that after a while. Too bad we can't fix those. :/ dannymusiceditor ~talk to me!~ 02:58, 3 February 2016 (UTC)
Sure. I put the "Headup" sample in the history section.
Statik N (talk) 01:05, 5 February 2016 (UTC)
I uploaded the "Slipknot - Surfacing.ogg" file.
Statik N (talk) 01:28, 5 February 2016 (UTC)
—Was that what you were talking about?
Statik N (talk) 01:40, 5 February 2016 (UTC)
If that wasn't the caption you wanted, then you can change it.
Statik N (talk) 01:48, 5 February 2016 (UTC)
I wasn't going to put it exactly like that, but yes I was going to work with that. dannymusiceditor ~talk to me!~ 02:17, 5 February 2016 (UTC)

FA review

Hey Danny, can you and Statik N do a review on Ride the Lightning and post it to the nomination page? I've reviewed your request earlier, and I'd be very grateful if you check mine. All the best.--Retrohead (talk) 17:13, 18 February 2016 (UTC)

No prob! Working on a review on that right now. dannymusiceditor ~talk to me!~ 22:16, 18 February 2016 (UTC)

Nu metal

Unfortunately I don't have the books. Statik N (talk) 00:11, 19 February 2016 (UTC)

Nu metal books

I noticed that you posted something on the nu metal article's talk page, asking if anyone had one of the books in the nu metal article's furthering reading section. What sources do you need to look at? I don't have any of the books but I could order them on Amazon or something.

Statik N (talk) 19:56, 9 March 2016 (UTC)

Statik, I was able to see a preview of Deena Weinstein's book, Rock'n America: A Social and Cultural History. The one I could not find a preview for, however, was Joel McIver's book that highlighted nu metal specifically. There might be more, so watchlist this to see if I have any more. dannymusiceditor what'd I do now? 22:48, 9 March 2016 (UTC)

I think the person who added the McIver book was on Wikipedia a few years ago and probably doesn't use Wikipedia anymore. They probably have that McIver book. I don't know who added the book and stuff like that on the nu metal article, though. I could try finding out who added that McIver book and stuff like that on the nu metal article. If I can't, then I'll probably order the McIver book on Amazon. Statik N (talk) 00:42, 10 March 2016 (UTC)

Don't worry

I highly doubt I ever will need to again.  — Calvin999 18:15, 10 March 2016 (UTC)

Fallen and "My Immortal" credits

Hello, DannyMusicEditor. I noticed you are an active user when it comes to Evanescence's articles. I was reading the linner notes of Fallen and I noticed that David Hodges does not have songwriting credits for "My Immortal", "Imaginary" and "Whisper". Also, Ben Moody is credited as the sole producer of "My Immortal". However, on the "My Immortal" Maxi single, David Hodges is credited as a songwriter and Dave Fortman is credited as a producer, along with Moody. What is the most reliable source? the album or the single?. Thank you so much. --Paparazzzi (talk) 18:05, 22 March 2016 (UTC)

Oh, jeez. Thanks for the message, Paparazzzi. I have no idea which overpowers which. The people who made those booklets made stupid mistakes. The band did not choose good editors for their notes, that's for sure. You should probably make a note (i.e. the kind they use for Deftones' style section) that says that there are differences in the credits. I'm currently busy working on their newer material, but I will get to this eventually if you can't fix this. dannymusiceditor what'd I do now? 18:11, 22 March 2016 (UTC)
Thank you so much, Danny :D. --Paparazzzi (talk) 05:05, 26 March 2016 (UTC)

A Thousand Suns

Congrats on getting that to GA. I haven't had much time to edit here on Wikipedia lately (most of my edits for the past few months have been reverts), but I was thinking that if and when I get the chance, how about helping me get Meteora, Minutes to Midnight and Living Things to GA as well, now that it has been achieved with Linkin Park's other three albums? I'm thinking that Living Things currently has the most potential, so maybe I could do that one first, and then you can review it once I nominate it to GA. What do you think? Kokoro20 (talk) 23:09, 7 April 2016 (UTC)

Many thanks, Kokoro. And that's a great idea. I would love to help, but now that my current GANs have passed, I'm taking a break from Wikipedia - school and my athletic program have been demanding on me lately (I run track). The last thing I'm doing before my WB is reviewing Give It All. However, if you'd like to nominate Living Things, I will help when its review comments arrive (hopefully I notice). Translations from the Russian GA version of that article might help so coverage can be ensured. If it's done when I decide to come back from my inactivity, I'll probably start work on Minutes to Midnight. dannymusiceditor what'd I do now? 23:15, 7 April 2016 (UTC)

Oops

Regarding this. Sorry about that! Must have been a brain fart on my end. I was confused by a lack of edit summary, and I somehow thought the reference was being removed rather than added, which was what you were doing, then I checked the source and quickly undid it without paying attention. My apologies. Good work on finding that source, though!  Adrian[232] 18:02, 24 April 2016 (UTC)

A Lesson in Romantics

Hello DannyMusicEditor:

The copy edit you requested from the Guild of Copy Editors of the article A Lesson in Romantics has been completed. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

You will notice that I archived one of the article’s citations (#2). I suggest that you archive the rest of the URLs as time allows. This ensures that the article's references are available "forever" and that it doesn’t develop “dead links” over time. The site I use is https://archive.org/web/. Simply copy the URL in the citation and paste it in the “Save Page Now” box on the archive.org site and click save. This creates a copy of the original page and provides you with a new URL to add to the original citation. If you look at the URL I've archived you'll see the syntax. You add the new URL to the end of the original citation like this: |archiveurl=http etc|archivedate=13 February 2015}}. Not all websites allow archiving - CBS TV news and the NY Times are two I've come across, so there's not much you can do about that unless there is an alternate citation you could use.

Kind regards,

Twofingered Typist (talk) 13:37, 6 May 2016 (UTC)

Twofingered Typist, thank you for the message. I had not gotten around to archiving, and I will do so when I have adequate time. Thanks again for the copyedit. dannymusiceditor what'd I do now? 14:30, 6 May 2016 (UTC)

Your signature is broken; in the link to your username, you have the closing ''' and ]] the wrong way around, resulting in the timestamp being bolded. Paranoia (A Day To Remember song)

I saw your recent edit deleted my edit for the song being in a debate if Metalcore and Hardcore Punk. I can kinda say that the song is a mixture of both because Jeremy did say in the behind the scenes of making the music video they had the idea of a punk chorus then bringing it back in to their old a day to remember. So if there is anything about the genres it's most likely Hardcore Punk and Metalcore or one of the two. 321rematch (talk) 18:30, 16 June 2016 (UTC)

Stop genre warring

I get you like your sources. IN at least one case, you went against a comment and added a source that was not supported. Stop it. Walter Görlitz (talk) 23:19, 1 July 2016 (UTC)

Warring? I reverted one time. One. That does not constitute warring. I never go further than that without talk discussion, I promise. But you're missing the point anyway. That one "unsupported one" is the hard rock one? Electronic-tinged isn't the part that matters! You're missing the entire point! Please read the edit summary! dannymusiceditor Speak up! 23:30, 1 July 2016 (UTC)

Come As You Are

I am prepared to discuss this. First off, I don't think you should have the bit "Following the success of Smells Like Teen Spirit they were unsure as to the second single...." and so on because that makes it sound like it was the success of SLTS which made them unsure about which song should be the second single which is not the case. The success of SLTS had nothing to do with them being "unsure" about the second single, it was more to do with the likeness of the Killing Joke song.QuintusPetillius (talk) 19:36, 5 July 2016 (UTC)

Is that right? I'd have fixed that once I delved deeper into that Swedish article. I am not using that as a source, I assure you. I'm just taking the sources given there and expanding any content not here yet. There must be some content in there I haven't added to the article's body yet, the lead was just the first step. There might be a translation mistake on my part too. Just give me time and if I don't actually find anything on that I'll scrap that lead.

Are you sure about that unsure part, though? Without looking in there, I'd have believed it. Teen Spirit had some crazy massive chart success. I'm sure after a dreary album like Bleach, a hit single like Teen Spirit would've come as a bit of a shock, and maybe they didn't plan to have another strong single like that. The Swedish FA says "they were unsure which single they wanted to launch next" right after "which the band had not expected", referring to SLTS' success.

Your argument is also likely, however. I'll think about that. dannymusiceditor Speak up! 19:48, 5 July 2016 (UTC)

Ev discog edit

What were you wanting to do to the title that you alluded to in this edit? Huntster (t @ c) 00:59, 14 September 2016 (UTC)

The title parameter is much wider in the promotional singles section than in the officials; I tried to adjust the scope row or whatever that was, and it made no difference. In the article's FLC, FrB.TG suggested that the two parameters be aligned the same. I agree, I just don't know how to fix that. If you know what to do, I'd greatly appreciate your help. dannymusiceditor Speak up! 21:29, 14 September 2016 (UTC)

IDGAF really, let him nominate it. It might be a sock of this user, who did that to a couple BMTH-related pages (Oli Sykes and Sempiternal (album)). Those didn't have a chance in Hades' domain of passing, especially the laughably bad article on Oli, but this one is in good condition after what I put into it and it actually has a good chance of passing. I was planning on nomming that in my next few GANs anyway. dannymusiceditor Speak up! 18:53, 17 September 2016 (UTC)

@GerardWay86: Hello, MCR-crazy emo fan. I have a few lessons for you about Wikipedia. I am familiar with Simple Plan's music AND Wikipedia article, but one is good and the other is not. Simple Plan's article is not professionally written or well-cited. I saw you nominate it initially, but if its current state is the way you want to nominate it, it would be a waste of the reviewer's time. So I removed it. For you to have done that again annoys me. Please, take a look at Fall Out Boy's article (a GA) and compare that to Simple Plan's and tell me if that's anywhere near that quality.

And second, please post at the bottom of talk pages. dannymusiceditor Speak up! 05:43, 30 October 2016 (UTC)

Possible GA swaps?

Hi there,

I noticed that you've got quite a few album articles up for GAN (good job there). I just wanted to know if you'd be interested in doing a GA review swap with me? The Unraveling has been up for a while, and I'm close to nominating Revolutions per Minute. I can take one of your articles in exchange for one of mine. Famous Hobo (talk) 16:13, 21 November 2016 (UTC)

Absolutely. If I had more time to do reviews, I'd have taken yours up, but I've been busy. But being that Thanksgiving break is approaching, I can do it then. You can take up one of the older co-noms I have on queue at GAN: Results May Vary or Take Off Your Colours. Thanks! dannymusiceditor Speak up! 19:56, 21 November 2016 (UTC)

Quid pro quo

Hi Danny. I have an open GAN for the album The Big Room. It is my first album GAN. I was wondering if you'd like trade something for reviewing it? I'd be happy to review something of yours in return. I already left some comments for at your Evanescence peer review, but just let me know if you'd like something else looked at in return for my GAN. Cheers. Freikorp (talk) 21:28, 23 November 2016 (UTC)

I would love to. But I have two GANs on review right now and I already promised a review above; so I can agree to do yours, and feel free to reserve one of my album-related ones, just don't review it yet or I might not get to them. Just do the one he doesn't end up choosing, really. dannymusiceditor Speak up! 21:30, 23 November 2016 (UTC)
Sounds good. I'll keep an eye out, but feel free to ping me when one gets taken. Freikorp (talk) 00:16, 24 November 2016 (UTC)
Hi Danny. Just throwing it out there, I now have Shades of Purple, the predecessor to The Big Room, nominated for GA. I took your GAN comments for The Big Room into consideration before nominating it. If you'd like to trade reviews for it this time I will wait until you tell me which article you'd like me to review instead of picking one myself which might not be ready:), but no pressure if you've got too much on to look at this anytime soon. Don't forget i'm still happy to look at Call Me When You're Sober when it gets renominated in any case. Hope you've been well. Freikorp (talk) 12:29, 2 January 2017 (UTC)

Call Me When You're Sober

Hello:

The copy edit that you requested from the Guild of Copy Editors of the article Call Me When You're Sober has been completed.

As you are no doubt aware the article is riddled with "Dead Links" because previous contributors did not bother to archive their citations. (Why this is not required for FA designation is a mystery to me.) In any event, it appears there's a lot of work to do to deal with the issues these raise.

Also, most song articles I have copy edited have a 20-30 second sample for the reader to play. It's a glaring omission from this article.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

GAR request

Have you maybe got time to review this short article? It would help me finish the good topic around it. Best, Cartoon network freak (talk) 19:59, 17 December 2016 (UTC)

Would you and your cohorts be interested in making the blink discography into a good topic? It looks mighty close, once the discography becomes a featured list (looks like you are going for that), it might be done. Not sure if you have to include the live, compilation, and video albums. Something to consider, you might have other bands that are close as well. Kees08 (talk) 00:25, 28 December 2016 (UTC)

Funny you mention that. That's been my goal for a while, and I'll be doing it with Evanescence's albums and the songs from at least two of theirs. Maybe one day I'll restore the band's article. I would only need a live album for a topic titled "Blink-182 albums". If I do "Blink-182 studio albums" I think I'll be fine. dannymusiceditor Speak up! 02:35, 28 December 2016 (UTC)

Help

Hello Danny! I wanted to ask for your help to help detect an issue we have on the Central Kurdish Wikipedia, we wanted to redesign the Arts Portal, we are trying to use the template random portal component, and are still testing on the portal to see how it is going, but there is this expression error that I can't figure out how to fix. I have read the help of the RPC template, and we also created one of the subpages here that the RPC template requires to work, but still there's an error that I can't fix. I would appreciate if you take a look at that for me. Thank you!—‎Lost Whispers talk 14:57, 28 December 2016 (UTC)

Just because I edited what today's featured article is to remove some extraneous information I saw doesn't mean I have any proficiency in the language, and that would get especially difficult in template work. I can't help you, I'm sorry. Or was that Turkish Wikipedia I did that? Anyway, I'm of no help. dannymusiceditor Speak up! 15:31, 28 December 2016 (UTC)
That's all right, I was just trying to figure out what was causing the error. Thanks anyway! —‎Lost Whispers talk 17:35, 28 December 2016 (UTC)
