Fate characters[edit]

@TranquilHope: Thanks for the compliment. When it came to some works like Shirou's Archer form, I had help from another Hope. He helped to translate some sources and copyedit Shirou's article.

I have plans for Sakura considering her large coverage from the Heaven's Feel movie as well as Illya considering she has her own spin-off. However, it seems I don't have enough creation sources to balance those characters so I'm a bit worried about creating small articles. I only know one thing about Sakura's creation and then everything is Ufotable's work rather than Nasu's. The Type Moon wiki helped to create the Kiritsugu article among other stuff. Kirei, Archer and Gilgamesh seem more difficult so if it's possible the next article I would create would be for Sakura (if we ever get creation sources). Cheers.Tintor2 (talk) 00:11, 10 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't found any creation sources sadly. The only thing I know about Sakura is that she is based on another character created by Nasu. There is no need to have as many paragraphs as Shirou's article but Kiritsugu's or Rin would be more ideal.Tintor2 (talk) 14:05, 10 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
To the best of my memory I didn't seen creation sources for initial VN Sakura too. I remembered only information about BB-chan and other Sakura forms in Extra CCC, some Yamaguchi words about Sakura in Studio Deen TV series, some Shitaya's interviews... But now I've decided to check Fate/complete material II Character material and in 41st page there is Nasu&Takeuchi talk about Sakura creation and design concepts. Also other Fate/SN character concepts are also described in this artbook. It can be very useful for your work. Dantiras (talk) 14:43, 10 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Also Fate/Side Material page 74 or Fate/stay night Visual Story pp. 239-240 — Sakura's characterisation by Nasu (″Asagami Fujino type″). Dantiras (talk) 15:15, 10 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Nice. I don't have access to those sources but if possible we could work together into making Sakura's article. I already know a lot about the Heaven's Feel films characterization of Sakura and some reception info. Sakura might be the most possible to focus next.Tintor2 (talk) 15:27, 10 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Feel free to edit here.Tintor2 (talk) 15:47, 10 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Tintor2: I've sent you interview from character material. Dantiras (talk) 16:07, 10 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. But is there a translated version or you think Google translate is good with this?Tintor2 (talk) 16:10, 10 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Google Translate seems to be as adequate as my possible attempt to translate this text from Japanese to Russian and than to English. =) Unfortunately I don't know any translated versions of this text. Dantiras (talk) 16:29, 10 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I'll try asking people who know Japanese since in English Sakura translates to flower so the google translate makes it kind of confusing.Tintor2 (talk) 21:41, 10 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Managed to make a good reception section. Now to wait for a translation of that guide commentary.Tintor2 (talk) 22:38, 10 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Tintor2: I think that appearances in Extra and Extra CCC needs to be mentioned. At least like from this sourse. So for Ishtar and Ereshkigal and Tousaka Rin (Extra) in Rin article. For Type-Moonies it is not the same, but even Shirou from kaleid is not the same as original FSN version. It seems for me to be more valuable information than some side cameos in Divine Gate. Dantiras (talk) 19:04, 11 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Already created Sakura Matou. Feel free to include anything. Per coverage, everything about the character needs to be added to the article which is why Shirou's article is so big (compare it with Cloud Strife who has also had alternative appearances in other video games besides FFVII). Feel free to add anything to the articles (I'm a bit busy today).Tintor2 (talk) 19:21, 11 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not familiar with the Extra series so it might be better if you add them to the character's articles.Tintor2 (talk) 22:24, 11 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yesterday I had started the revision of my sources for all recently noticed in our conversation Fate characters. I'm going to do it properly firstly in Russian-wiki (till GA status or approved one (″добротный″ in Russian)), and only then will expand English articles. If you will have any problems with Fate franchise history or creation information you may just ping me and I'll find information to the request. Dantiras (talk) 20:34, 14 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry I can't see your account but I don't think I can create more Fate character articles. Gilgamesh and Waver might have potential since the two are having their own spinoff series.Tintor2 (talk) 22:25, 14 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Found more extra stuff about Kiritsugu's creation but sadly I found nothing about his inclusion in the original visual novel. Same with Rin. Rin really needs some extra creation information considering how small it is.Tintor2 (talk) 17:15, 20 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I am going to make translation of talk about Rin fron II Character material today. So if I will have time tomorrow I'll expand it. And about preUrobuchi Kiritsugu I can remember only this page from the same source, but it says really nothing about Kiritsugu origins, and even about Takeuchi's disign thoughts... Anyway I'll check the other possible information about Kiritsugu till Monday. Dantiras (talk) 17:38, 20 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Nice. By the way, I checked the Russian Fate article. They sure look well written alongside good sources. Also, if you are in need I added to Shirou's and Sakura's articles the theme of their songs from Unlimited Blade Works and Heaven's Feel works to their articles.Tintor2 (talk) 18:08, 20 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, thanks. I've found good creation info about Rin (″Aoko Aozaki-type in Fate″ per Nasu's words) and will expand Rin article tomorrow. Dantiras (talk) 20:13, 20 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

BTW, there is a discussion at Talk:Fate/stay night#Creating a Fate (franchise) page in regards to making a Fate franchise article. Feel free to talk if you want.Tintor2 (talk) 01:11, 21 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Btw, there is something I wanted to ask you since I'm not sure. What image should the infobox of each character use? At first I thought about using the 2004 visual novel images but they seem kind of dated in comparison to Grand Order, Ufotable's anime or the Illya's spinoff. For example, I found a good one of UBW anime Shirou here while the Oath Under Snow has him wielding his most common weaponry [here https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/9f/ShirouEmiyaOath.png]. Cheers.Tintor2 (talk) 15:40, 27 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Talking about Fate character creation it is not only Nasu's but also Takeuchi's ideas for all FSN heroes. Takeuchi influence is really very hard (and Nasu said about it in many interviews), so I indicate in the "creator" infobox section both Nasu and Takeuchi in Ru-Wiki. In consideration of illustrator influece I think that that the original design is the wright thing to be in infobox. For example, for this sprite Takeuchi said that "it is the best Shirou image that I created myself". All other pictures from anime, manga and games are just derivatives, that were done mostly by other Type-Moon illustrators on Takeuchi sketches. I do not want to impose my decision on this issue, but I think that infobox image must be the first published version made by Takeuchi himself, and the others can be shown as a collage or separate pictures in the article text due to it's description in the article. Dantiras (talk) 19:22, 27 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Official author is important but I've also been told to use a full body shots if possible like when I searched for a big image of Allen Walker in the past. Then again Takeuchi has made two other shots Grand Order and unlimited Codes. I was just playing the novel for the first time so there weren't shots of Shirou since everything is told from his point of view.Tintor2 (talk) 19:34, 27 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
For article images (not infobox) I would rather prefer to show the best illustrative ones. There is no projection image in VN with Shirou himself, so every FSN (or unlimited codes) Shirou projection is a good one (imho, ufotable is today nearly canonic version). FGO or Priya as other timeline stories shouldn't be mentioned as much as the basic FSN (only if you want to explain the differences between the FSN and for example Hiroyama and Silver Link view on Shirou in text). Dantiras (talk) 19:55, 27 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The Shirou image you showed me could be used in the creation or infobox sections if the source for Takeuchi's thoughts are possible. Do you also know where I could get that image?Tintor2 (talk) 19:42, 27 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Followed your advice and uploaded that image. Do you think it might be possible to upload one in smaller resolution? It's quite big.Tintor2 (talk) 20:06, 27 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah. I think that it needs to be resized for En-wiki. In Ru-Wiki nowadays admins don't pay attention to the fair use image size, only to big description in article for such images. Dantiras (talk) 20:12, 27 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Changed the size of the infobox image and remove one from cultural impact. Also, replaced the Oath image with the one from UBW while adding about how Nasu himself talked about the staff decided to change the original look. Feel free to touch or add anything. The Archer Card image though is also mentioned by Hiroyama himself about its original sketch from a volume so I guess it's okay to have it. From what I've been told three nonfree images is okay in an article if there is coverage about them. Feel free to fix or add anything.Tintor2 (talk) 20:41, 27 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
By the way I forgot this but do the artbook scans the Russian Fate articles have might have early sketches of Shirou's design during the making of the visual novel? They might be quite useful. Also, I wondered if one of those Fate books has commentary about the design of Saber Alter because I think her article lacks coverage about the making of her dark persona.Tintor2 (talk) 22:24, 27 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for that edit in Rin's article. I am playing right now the Realta Nua version of visual novel so I had no idea if that happens or not in the original version.Tintor2 (talk) 22:26, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Да ну такую невнятную категоризацию.″ (Even if in the game are shown strict heterosexual relationships, but there is an erotic scene with three participants of both sexes, where someone has done something with a representative of his sex, this is also “LGBT in computer games”. To hell such a vague categorization.) Dantiras (talk) 22:44, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
For best understanding of that situation just try to imagine the possible origins of meme ″you lost me″.Dantiras (talk) 22:51, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, I couldn't find a Takeuchi image of Kiritsugu but I found a better one than the one from the article. See [1] Is it possible to make a cleaner PNG version of the image without all the colors?Tintor2 (talk) 22:54, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Emm... What is wrong with this Takeuchi image? Or this one? Dantiras (talk) 23:13, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Nice :D But I need the sources to upload these ones. The first one (the sketch) might be useful in the creation section to further detail the making of the character. For example, this sketch was used to make the article become FA as it explained stuff from the creation section. We might need to know what is Takeuchi saying about Kiritsugu in that sketch to use it as an example similar Kyo Kusanagi's beta form.Tintor2 (talk) 23:42, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Kiritsugu image from Wikia source — Fate/complete Material II: Character Material / Type-Moon. — Enterbrain, 2010. — P. 213. — ISBN 978-4047266803. Dantiras (talk) 23:53, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
