Request reason:

Caught by an open proxy block but this host or IP is not an open proxy. My IP address is 197.158.119.98. I am not using any VPN or proxy and am connecting directly from the internet router provided by my ISP. Darhan (talk) 20:34, 11 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Procedural decline since, as your account is not blocked directly, there is no block on it to lift and you could edit from other IPs. Since lifting these open-proxy blocks is difficult, I suggest instead that you follow the instructions at WP:IPECPROXY to request IP block exemption. — Daniel Case (talk) 06:46, 12 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

The process for appealing an IP block is labyrinthine, poorly explained, and the opposite of user-friendly. I have decided that I’m okay with risking my (as of 2023) 16-year-old account if that is the price for saying that I do not appreciate being scolded for failing to navigate a complicated process to fix a situation in which I found myself by no fault of my own. I will not be appealing any further blocks. If there is any lack of information or misinformation I wished to fix on Wikipedia, and found myself prevented from fixing it, my policy from now on will be to not bother and let it stand. Yes, we're all volunteer here, but I do not care to volunteer to jump through multiple humiliating hoops and being called out for not doing it correctly.
