License tagging for Image:Pileated.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Pileated.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 08:07, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

Northern Flicker image[edit]

I was editing the Northern Flicker article and rearranging some pictures there and noticed you took a nice shot of a pair of birds in Seattle. I knew someone by your name when I lived in Seattle and wanted to say hello, assuming you are the same person. If not, that's a nice image in any case... Wildlife Photgraphy Bird Images[edit]

Thanks for uploading your images, Had you considered also uploading your images on Wikimedia Commons? ( Wikimedia Commons is a repository for free media and images) so that other projects could make use of them under the 'free' license used. ShakespeareFan00 22:50, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to Meetup/Seattle6, a focus group[edit]

Hello. I'm part of a research group at the University of Washington (Seattle campus), and my group is reaching out to Wikipedians in the Puget Sound area. We're hosting a focus group designed to gather information on what Wikipedians would like to know about each other when interacting on Wikipedia. Our end goal is to create an embedded application that helps people quickly know more about others' history and activity on Wikipedia, and we feel our design will be much more useful if it's based on insights of users like you.

I'm hoping that the chance to help out local researchers, to engage in lively face-to-face discussion with other Seattle Wikipedians, and to contribute to Wikipedia in a new way will entice you to join us. The session lasts 2 hours and snacks are provided. Sessions will be held on UW Seattle campus - directions will be sent after registration. Your contribution will be greatly appreciated!

Willing and able to help us out? RSVP here. Want to know more? Visit our user talk page . Please help us contact other local Wikipedians, too! Commprac01 (talk) 01:34, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Commons[edit]

Hi David, please remember to add messages at the bottom of talk pages, or they might be missed. Linking to wikipedia articles is automatic. For example, if you look at this image and follow the page down to the end, its usage on 12 different wikis is listed. Make sure you give categories on Commons, one of which should be the binomial name of the bird to keep all the images of, say, Turdus merula together - the binomial because not all uploaders are English speakers. You can also add a category like David.margrave images so that you can view all your images together if you wish Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:00, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

and to link from article to commons gallery use this template - {{Commons category|binomial name}} - if it's not already on the page Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:16, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You are invited to this local event![edit]

Since you have a history of editing Seattle articles I thought you might live in Seattle.

I would like to invite you to attend a Wikipedia meetup described on Wikipedia:Meetup/seattlewp. This meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 6 March 2012 at 7pm in Café Allegro. Thank you for your attention and I hope to see you there. Blue Rasberry (talk) 00:40, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
