Myron Evans II moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Myron Evans II, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Myron Evans II, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Hi there, my page called Myron Evans II was deleted. Was there anyway I could retrieve this content back? I spent hours writing the page which will be used to turn in for a school assignment--all my hard work is literally just gone. Thanks DavidMHuang12 (talk) 04:33, 17 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Help getting my page back for school assignment[edit]

Question for administrator[edit]

<Hello, my page was recently flagged for advertisement. My page wasn't an advertisement, rather it outlined the career of a scientist. I made the page for a school assignment and will need it in the future to present. Is there anything I can do to get this page back because I spent hours creating this page? Thanks >

If you have a school assignment to write a Wikipedia article, that is extremely unfair to you as a student, because you have limited control over the process(as you have found out). Wikipedia is not concerned with any assignments or deadlines you have been given. The Wikipedia Education Program materials suggest possible lessons that do not go as far as requiring the creation of a new article; you may wish to show this message and that page to your teacher/instructor.
In any event, the text you wrote was deleted as promotional because Wikipedia is not a place to tell about someone and what they do. You did a good job with that- but that's not what Wikipedia is looking for. A Wikipedia article about a person must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about the person, showing how they meet the special Wikipedia definition of a notable person. You in essence posted Dr. Evans' resume. Text like "Dr.Evans is passionate about diversity and inclusion within biomedical research" has no place in an encyclopedia article. I might suggest reviewing Your First Article.
We can give you the deleted text back via email(if you add an email address to your account preferences, do not post it publicly) if you need it but it will not be restored to Wikipedia. 331dot (talk) 08:53, 17 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, thanks for getting back to me. The feedback you provided was helpful and I will keep this in mind before publishing the article. I would love to get my text back because I need to present it to the class and spent countless hours working on it. I have an email address linked to my account, so that email would work best. Thanks!
Our class assignment requires us to highlight a specific individual from underrepresented groups in the biological research--these individuals oftentimes are covered in media. That means it's difficult to find sources that cover the biography/work of these individuals. My page revolved a scientist that worked on pediatric cancer so a significant portion of the page highlighted his publication and research. I found the research on reliable sources including NIH (National Institutes of Health) and PubMed. Many of my classmates also created a page in a "resume" format. Additionally, the person I'm covering didn't want any biography posted because of privacy concerns. Rather, this individual wanted his publications and research highlighted. Let me know if you have any comments/advice/suggestions. Thanks! DavidMHuang12 (talk) 00:12, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • I apologize for being frank with you, but Wikipedia is not concerned with deadlines or assignments you have been given by others. Some quick hit points here:
  1. Wikipedia articles must meet the relevant sourcing criteria regardless of any assignments you have been given.
  2. The wishes of the subject are not the primary concern. Those wishes are considered, but they do not necessarily get to pick and choose what publicly available information appears in the article. While sensitive personal information (like addresses, phone numbers, government ID numbers, even names of family members if they have no articles about them) is not permitted, if say, a birthdate is publicly available it is not easy to keep it out of an article. The subject is also free to argue that they do not meet the notability criteria for an article at all(see WP:BLPREQUESTDELETE) and that wish will be considered. In short, the subject cannot have it both ways, they must take the good with the bad if they would like an article about them.
  3. If you are in communication with the subject regarding an article about them, that is a conflict of interest. Typically articles are written without any involvement from the subject, or even their knowledge, because articles exist to summarize publicly available independent reliable sources.
  4. Wikipedia is not the place to write a resume type piece and merely document what the person does. Any article about a person must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about the person, showing how they meet the special Wikipedia definition of a notable person or possibly a notable academic.

I will shortly email the text to you; again, however, it shouldn't be restored to Wikipedia at least not without massive changes. 331dot (talk) 09:14, 19 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon This is your only warning; if you vandalize Wikipedia again, as you did at Myron Evans II, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. you have repeatedly edit warred a promotional draft into mainspace after saying you wouldn't and now are disruptively removing AFd tags - if you do so again or make another single disruptive edit, I will request an indefinite block of your account.
