David, welcome to wikipedia. I guess your first AfD nomination isn't going well. Don't let it get you down. Check Wikipedia:Deletion policy before you nominate something for deletion. With the possible exception of "no salvageable content" none of the things you listed would really do it for deletion. Per Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Precedents#Education, high schools are rarely deleted. I don't agree with it and I don't know how it got that way, but there it is.

Spinning wait cursor[edit]

You asked about a citation for the spinning wait cursor appearing on a failing hard drive. I couldn't find one just now, mostly because Apple's developer search engine is just awful. The logic is simple, though: The spinning wait cursor appears whenever an application stops responding to events. Applications do not respond to events while performing virtual memory paging. Therefore, if paging takes an unusually long amount of time (such as, for instance, when a hard drive is misbehaving) the spinning wait cursor will appear.
