Jake Riddell[edit]

Hi David

I came across your recent article Jake Riddell because of its use of imdb links that are not of the approved type (see Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Film/Archive_79#Masking imdb links as wikilinks for the reason why). There are a few other tricks you might like to try. For example, instead of using [[Murder Investigation Team (TV series)|''Murder Investigation Team'']], the same link will result if you just put ''[[Murder Investigation Team (TV series)|]]'', which both give Murder Investigation Team after rendering. Note the "pipe" character is required to suppress all the stuff in brackets. There are lots of other examples of this left in the article. I wonder whether you have read WP:LINK, as I think you may have WP:OVERLINK in some places. I did removed some external links that you placed in the body text. This is not a good idea, per WP:ELPOINTS. Otherwise, keep up the good work! Mike Turnbull (talk) 16:30, 14 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Mike
Thank you so much for your tips! I am very keen to learn how to improve as a contributor. I will read the links you have suggested. Would you mind if I contacted you again if I don't understand some of it? Many thanks, David. David Fairgrieve (talk) 23:31, 14 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
By all means contact me: I'm one of the mentors in that scheme for new editors and often "hang out" at the teahouse, which is where you'll get a prompt response in general (not necessarily from me). If you do want to contact me directly, just add a bit into this thread on your Talk Page but be sure to {{ping}} me so I'll notice! Mike Turnbull (talk) 09:58, 15 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
