Speedy deletion of JOWL[edit]

A tag has been placed on JOWL requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for web content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, such as in Talk:JOWL, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. Although I must admit you were correct, my mistake. I don't mean to keep badgering you, but I just noticed from your user page that you are the creator of the JOWL software. Wikipedia's policy is that editing articles on subjects you have a close relationship to constitutes an inherent conflict of interest and is strongly discouraged. However, if you could point out any media coverage in reliable sources about this software, it would establish that it is notable enough for it's own encyclopedic entry. allright, I see your point. So you mean that for example once a published whitepaper is present this will no longer cause any issues? Daviddecraene (talk)

Thank you for being reasonable. You'd be surprised how many people flip out when they get a message like that. Policy on reliable sources is that they must be a reliable third party independent of the subject being discussed, so a magazine or software website etc taking an interest would be best.
