Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Davidrsmithii, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Draft:Jelli (neobank), may not conform to some of Wikipedia's content policies and may not be retained. In short, the topic of an article must be notable and have already been the subject of publication by reliable and independent sources.

Please review Your first article for an overview of the article creation process. The Article Wizard is available to help you create an article, where it will be reviewed and considered for publication. For information on how to request a new article that can be created by someone else, see Requested articles. If you are stuck, come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can help you through the processes.

Okay, my original Article was deleted. I looked up Simple (bank) and tried to follow their format since they were approved. I rewrote it and was as unbiased as could be. I just talked about it like it was a car, it's a sports car, has leather seats, a sun roof, top speed 200 mph. I just listed the facts, no promotions or anything. I removed ALL external links and only have Wikipedia links. If there is something wrong with the article, can someone please be specific because when I compare it to Simple or Chime banks it is exactly like them. Also, I did do a disclosure that I was the CEO of Jelli but it may have been deleted when they deleted my first article. How do I add the disclosure back to my second article Jelli (neobank). Thanks so much for you help! David

Hi David, I can see a number of problems. The first, glaring problem is that of COI. You are connected to this article, so you probably should not be the person editing the article about this organization. Second problem - the sources. I've looked at them, and none of them meet the standard required to show that a corporation meets our notability guidelines for corporations, or our general notability guidelines. For Wikipedia, that's a warning sign that tells us that this draft probably should not be an article... yet. Perhaps your company are on the verge of delivering big and important things, but not yet. It's too soon to say whether your company is notable. --Salimfadhley (talk) 21:43, 26 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Jelli (neobank), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. We have no intentions of using Wikipedia as an advertising platform. I was just trying to get the basics of the company and product down for the reader. I'm very happy to change it however you need me to. I will simplify it and remove the details of the product and what it focuses on and keep it more generic so it doesn't sound like I'm trying to promote something. Thanks, Davidrsmithii (talk) 01:23, 26 September 2020 (UTC)David[reply]

Please read the guidelines to ensure that you don't do things that make the article look and sound like an advert (eg. including external links in the text). Please also make sure you can meet the notability guidelines, otherwise you're not likely to get the article published regardless. Deb (talk) 09:50, 26 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Davidrsmithii. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. S0091 (talk) 16:19, 26 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, this is my fourth attempt to write something as generic and unbiased as possible. This time I followed another bank called Simple (bank). I just followed their format to be completely safe. I also did the disclosure but maybe that was deleted when they deleted my first article. When I compare what I wrote to what Simple wrote it is exactly the same approach. I even removed all the external links like someone asked me. I don’t see how what I’ve written is any different then what Simple wrote. I’m not trying to do advertising but I keep being accused of that even though it’s exactly what Simple and Chime and all the others have written. Can someone unbiased help me out here and tell me specifically what I need to change because it’s pretty generic at this point. Thanks! David Davidrsmithii (talk) 16:27, 26 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Davidrsmithii, my apologies. I should have added a note this is informational. You have made the appropriate declaration on your User page. Please note policies and guidelines vary across Wikipedia projects so what is acceptable at Simple may not be acceptable for the English Wikipedia and vice versa. This is also true across the various language versions (French, Spanish, etc.). The pertinent notability criteria for this article is WP:NCORP, which is related to organizations. You may find this this short essay also helpful. S0091 (talk) 17:28, 26 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No worries. Just trying to get it right and know what I need to do to fix it. So are you saying it needs more changes and I need to read the two articles that you suggested? I checked a few US companies and tried to follow them as well. Let me know what you think I need to change to get it approved. Thanks!! David Davidrsmithii (talk) 17:35, 26 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You certainly need better sources. Silcon Slopes is an industry and regional specific publication with a focus a Utah startups. Generally startups have yet to gain sufficient notability to warrant a Wikipedia article, see WP:TOOSOON. Another source is a review, but it is not in-depth or from a recognized authority. Two articles are about Dosh with only brief mentions of jelli and seem to be standard announcements. I do suggest you read WP:NCORP thoroughly. S0091 (talk) 18:08, 26 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
