Lukas Liming article[edit]

Hello, the Lukas Liming article has been deleted and I wanted to drop you a note about why. It contained a lot of personal information about an underage person, and so for safety's sake it has been deleted. I'm not clear on what your relationship is to Lukas Liming, but please do not recreate the article - the subject is not notable (he doesn't have significant coverage in reliable sources) and our policy on articles about minors says, among other things, that extreme care should be taken and (as with all biographies of living persons) only information supported by reliable sources should be present in the article. creffett (talk) 23:10, 17 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there![edit]

Hi Davisbro3812712, I have unfortunately had to suppress some of your edits because they reveal too much personally identifiable information about you. We have a policy of protecting editors' safety by hiding such information if they share it. I'm really sorry about having to suppress your edits, and I know it's annoying, but it's for the best. Please don't re-add the information. For some useful information on privacy and safety, you can take a look at Wikipedia:Guidance for younger editors and Wikipedia:On privacy, confidentiality and discretion. Thanks, and sorry for messing about with your pages! TonyBallioni (talk) 23:24, 17 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Let me rephrase the above: I've hidden it so even administrators can't see it, for the protection of the subject of the article. If you post it again, I will have to prevent you from making any edits to Wikipedia at all via a block. I really don't want to do that, but I will if need be to protect the privacy of a minor. You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Lukas Liming requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. creffett (talk) 23:51, 17 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Lukas[edit]

Hi, I'm responding to your contested deletion of Lukas Liming here. Being interviewed by a local news station (and for something unrelated to your career) does not add to notability here. He does not have significant coverage in independant sources and hasn't had charting songs yet. When he becomes notable enough, someone who is not connected to him will write an article about him here. Like others have recommended here above, you should not recreate this article. I of course hope you come and contribute to some of our already existing articles, come ask at the Teahouse if you get stuck with something. – Thjarkur (talk) 00:29, 13 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Reply[edit]

Hi, thanks for message. If you post an article it will be assessed as it stands. If you don't want that to happen, you should write it as a draft. I deleted your article because

  • it did not provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the organisation, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the company organisation claims or interviewing its management. Your text was partly unsourced, the rest being sourced to the newspaper itself rather than independent third-party sources.
  • It's difficult to see why this website meets WP:Notability (web). It appears to be just another news website. The newspaper may have been notable, but all we have there is some unreferenced claims of circulation, can't be notable without independent sources.
  • We have no verified circulation for the print version, and nothing at all for the digital version. It appears to have no offices, staff, income or expenditure, and from what you tell us it's completely indistinguishable from thousands of other websites. You said The first article on Lansing Daily was published November 6, 2019. Lansing Daily stopped doing publications after November 11 if that's correct, it didn't exist for long enough to be notable
  • it was written in a promotional tone since it consisted entirely of unsourced or self-sourced claims presented as fact and appeared to have no purpose other than to tell us it exists and where it can be accessed, rather than giving proper facts.
  • I note that you have said that you have no conflict of interest when editing this article, but you must not remove tags from the article yourself, you can't own it.

Before attempting to write an article again, please make sure that the topic meets the notability criteria linked above, and check that you can find independent third party sources.

It's not the worse I've seen, and I'll shortly post the deleted text to Draft:Lansing Daily (that's the way it was spelt in the text, although your title omitted the space} for you to improve. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 15:24, 1 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Lansing Daily[edit]

Hello. I have noticed that you have moved the page Lansing Daily to the mainspace again. However, it doesn't seem like you fixed any points raised by me or User:Jimfbleak. All its references are still published by Lansing Daily and all articles must be verifiable, and it is still unclear why is it notable. Edible Melon (talk) 07:42, 2 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Good morning,

I gave valid proof in the references and provided proof on how it is a credible source. There are links to the Facebook page which is verifiable by the "About" page with a verified email. It's notable because it has a ton of visits and has returned and has over 90 articles. If it is published by Lansing Daily then it should be verifiable and some of the links have proof with screenshots.

As for not having an office, from what I understand Lansing Daily is mostly done by volunteers and Lansing Daily makes no money and is a non-profit organization giving back to the local community. I heard from sources that do work for the company, they say they work remotely on their computer.

I have expressed the amount of subscribers/visitors and I believe the article should remain on the mainspace.

Lansing Daily[edit]

Please stop removing the orphan tag until it is de-orphaned. There are no links to this article. If you are unclear, read the link in the tag. MB 04:07, 3 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, ok. Sorry about that. I was confused on what to do. If there are links to the article, will it automatically go away?
No, probably not (unless someone runs a tool on this article that checks for that). It can be manually removed if there is at least one link to the article from another article in main space (links from talk pages and other namespaces don't count). And you should learn to indent and sign messages on talk pages MB 04:15, 3 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

---

My bad about signing, there is an article that Lansing Daily is connected to but it is in their references (Michigan's Adventure). It would be from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michigan%27s_Adventure#cite_ref-9

Davisbro3812712 (talk)

---

In regards to the excessive or inappropriate references and notability. I have already discussed it above and it was completely fine. Could you remove both of these warnings. The only issue is that it is a orphan article.

Davisbro3812712 (talk) 04:35, 3 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Davisbro3812712: Well nope, both of these issues remain as bad as ever. No independent references at all, and on my user talk page you claimed you can't find any, so it is not notable. Possibly relevant essay: Wikipedia:No amount of editing can overcome a lack of notability. Edible Melon (talk · contribs · block user) 07:28, 3 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Edible Melon: From what I understand and from community talks about Lansing Daily is that they part of the Attorney General's media list and that they are right now in the process of getting on the World Online News Papers website as well as OCLC. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Davisbro3812712 (talkcontribs) 07:33, 3 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Please sign your replies with four tildes. I have no idea what is "Attorney General", "World Online News Papers" and "OCLC", but I get no relevant results at all for Google queries like "Attorney General" "Lansing Daily". Besides, the article doesn't mention that (and I'm not sure if it should even mention that), and I'm not sure being on a, uh, list of newspapers makes a newspaper notable. Edible Melon (talk · contribs · block user) 07:57, 3 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

———-

The World Online News Papers and OCLC are both international media databases for known TV news stations and newspapers. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel is what I’m talking about and Lansing Daily is on their media list. They are also part of the City of Lansing’s list, East Lansing and more which is Michigan local government. Being on OCLC is very notable.
