Break

Let's respect the fact that DDStretch is unwell, wish him a speedy recovery, and take this discussion elsewhere. --Malleus Fatuorum (talk) 23:35, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

Quite. I do hope you get well soon. I hope you're not suffering. My thoughts are with you. Good luck and get well soon! --Jza84 |  Talk  00:28, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
I wish to add my best wishes Sarah777 (talk) 09:05, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

I think DD has been editing for a while on a 'feel like it' basis. Perhaps complete withrawal symptoms are something he can do without! (he/she - always assumed he). --Matt Lewis (talk) 14:05, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks to all for the best wishes. I have been editing off and on for a week or so, depending on whether I am able to get out of bed or am not needed to be seen by various medical people. The problem is that the injury I have (badly infected leg which started off as a simple graze when playing with my son), has been made worse and more slow to heal by being diabetic, and the nasty allergic reaction I developed to the rather large doses of penicillin antibiotics that were needed to have an effect on the infection took us all completely by surprise and has meant the infection is not easily dealt with at the moment. If the local hospital wasn't so riddled with C.diff. and MRSA infections, they suggested that me being admitted there for the duration would be an option, but I persuaded them not to. I'm not able to sit and type at a computer for too long as it does my leg no good, and no amount of rearranging furniture, etc can sort out that particular problem. My wife is also alert to me using the computer too much at the moment. I am most irritated by the cancellation of the holiday to visit my wife and son's relatives in the depths of the Chinese countryside, near to Zhangjiajie and its stunning scenery as the insurance company has wriggled out of paying us any compensation for flight tickets, etc on the grounds that the cancellation was brought about by a "complication due to diabetes" and therefore "excluded from cover" (I had been banking on my wife being a GP in China, her father being the province's leading practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine, and her older brother being the director of the area's hospital if I had health problems whilst in China, so didn't pay the extra hundreds of pounds to cover my diabetes.) Grrrr....  DDStretch  (talk) 14:46, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
That's bad luck that is. Someome's on a bonus for getting out of that one. I hope you're fighting it - ie it's due to the graze/antibios etc. Rediagnosis perhaps? Maybe it's not the time. --Matt Lewis (talk) 17:01, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

WikiProject Merseyside

Just wanted to draw your attention to this. Would be great if you were able to spare some of that dwindling and precious time you have to help out! Also, get well soon: hope it's nothing serious. ColdmachineTalk 16:07, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Sockpuppetry

I edit my own account anonymously; there isn't any malicious intent behind this, nor was there in redirecting the talk page, which I'm fine with reinstating, the redirect was just naivety on my part. I don't see how that though, is being either abusive or deceptive. The accusation of sockpuppetry was made in relation to the Wimbledon Championships page, where the IP adresses 90.197.162.220 and 90.197.162.27 made similar edits to me, but that's how tenuous it was. Anonymous edits to my own userpage cannot substantiate this claim. Those IP addresses are the only ones that need to be run through the Checkuser (I'm picturing it as large machine that you enter digits in to...). Yohan euan o4 (talk) 13:37, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

Plea for Tharky

Hi, could you maybe consider reducing the length of his block to 24 hours or so. It does look rather harsh - and as the butt of much of his banter I take no offense at all and he'd be aware of that. Regards Sarah777 (talk) 17:46, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

Could you please comment on this block, and explain your reasoning behind it? (See blocked user's talk page) Thank you. Prodego talk 17:50, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

Block of TharkunColl

I have asked a question on his page by his unblock template. Your input is required. Chillum 17:53, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi, with respect, the block does not appear to be justified, and the length of the block is very surprising even if Tharky was "baiting". Please reconsider the block entirely. Also, given the progress being made with the Task Force, I believe Tharky's participation is necessary. --HighKing (talk) 18:11, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
Ddstretch, I can understand why you were growing concerned (in line with what amounted to the previous block, there were signs that he might fall back into the same misconduct - but those signs would not have existed without your non-binding request to him). However, what amounted to the previous block was egregious misconduct - his comments here were not even close to the standard of the comments he made at the time, which were directed against multiple individuals. I think you know what I'm saying on the merits of the duration of the block, or a block at all. Still, I think lessons have been learnt by both parties, and hopefully, that's that. I'm glad you were willing to unblock - even if Elkman narrowly won the race. ;) Ncmvocalist (talk) 18:49, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

It is pretty much unanimously agreed upon at Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#Request_immediate_review_of_block that this block should be reversed. I think it would be best if you did it yourself instead of another administrator. Chillum 18:15, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. Chillum 18:19, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

And thanks from me D-stretch, I appreciate that. Regards Sarah777 (talk) 18:39, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

All is well in British Isles dispute land, once more. Jolly good. GoodDay (talk) 19:34, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

Yummy!

Thanks for the cookie.  DDStretch  (talk) 23:49, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks

Thank for agreeing to the unblock of Tharky. I hope your health is a little better than when you put the message at the top of this page, that you regain your health anew like a hardy perennial, and I look forward to seeing more of your work as an admin.:) (P.S. feel free to remove this pic if it's too annoying.) Thanks for the best wishes and the thanks. It wasn't the best of wikipedia at work. The details of my illness at given in a message, above, posted on 14:46, 30 July 2008.  DDStretch  (talk) 23:49, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
