List of Teams' Seasons

Why do the NHL teams seasons list only include the current iteration of that team? Such as, the Arizona/Phoenix Coyotes seasons list as a separate article from the 1972–1996 Winnipeg Jets seasons list or Colorado and Quebec? I mean the teams are considered the same according to the NHL and Wikipedia despite the relocation. The NBA, MLB, and NFL seasons articles do not have separate articles for relocated teams. So, is there a precedent or former RM/RfC that does not allow for these articles to merge? Conyo14 (talk) 16:31, 11 May 2023 (UTC)

@Conyo14: That decision predates my time here, I'll take a look tonight and get back to you later once I figure it out. Deadman137 (talk) 16:36, 11 May 2023 (UTC)
@Conyo14: I didn't find any RM/RfC directly about this. What I did find was that there was a site wide effort to make sure that each iteration of a team had its own dedicated article, but at the time of that campaign the ice hockey wikiproject was already in full compliance before it began. So from what I can see it looks like because both Atlanta teams, Hartford, Quebec, etc. have their own articles the decision was made to apply the same standard to the team seasons articles, except for Kansas City and Cleveland as their history didn't warrant a separate article. Deadman137 (talk) 04:22, 13 May 2023 (UTC)
Interesting. Then I'll proceed with a merge request. It's going to take some time to get everything sorted with the tables. Conyo14 (talk) 04:31, 13 May 2023 (UTC)
@Conyo14: Be careful with that because a couple of the articles that you're looking to change are featured lists and they attained that status without the other parts of the franchise history. Deadman137 (talk) 04:38, 13 May 2023 (UTC)
@Conyo14: Also be aware that the same standard applies to all the list of team draft pick articles, so you might be stepping into a bigger pit than you assume. Deadman137 (talk) 04:53, 13 May 2023 (UTC)
Oh jeez, I hadn't realized that, yeah, I'll definitely mess around with it a bit in my sandbox first. Five articles affected, but if I make them similar to the MLB/NFL/NBA articles, then we might be fine. However, they use a color coding scheme to differ between the two locations. In that case, I'll likely need the color coding schema for the formers and then the currents. Fortunately, the other sports articles don't have that separation of cities. Conyo14 (talk) 05:48, 13 May 2023 (UTC)
@Conyo14: I did find this [1] from 2006 as well. The longest conversation that I can find on this occurred here [2] so there is some precedent against what you're looking at. Deadman137 (talk) 14:40, 13 May 2023 (UTC)

Lowercase

I've asked twice now in the discussion portion if Stanley Cup Finals, a proper name, is included in the RfC and as yet nobody has commented. The RfC may act as a workaround including a lowercase change in that major name (see the nomination question where 'Finals' and Stanley Cup "etc." are included) and have asked that until that is clarified that 'Finals' and "etc." be removed from the nomination question. Randy Kryn (talk) 15:01, 14 May 2023 (UTC)

@Randy Kryn: Those terms are trademarks of the the league as you can see here. [3] Deadman137 (talk) 01:12, 15 May 2023 (UTC)
Good, then that means, I think, that they are automatically kept uppercased on Wikipedia. Thanks. This has been somewhat discussed in the discussion section of the RfC, you've probably kept up with it. Randy Kryn (talk) 02:47, 15 May 2023 (UTC)

Another heads-up on Dicklyon

He's apparently gone on the warpath this morning through a variety of pages, including a multitude of college hockey seasons and drafts. Figured I'd let you know in order to fix some of the damages. The Kip (talk) 05:29, 22 May 2023 (UTC)

@The Kip: I just noticed this after I posted a new topic below. If you see edits of mine that you think are not right, it would be a good idea to talk to me, rather than about me. I have no idea what you're referring to, but I assure you I'm not on any warpath, and not doing damage. If you disagree with some of my edits, let me know. Dicklyon (talk) 04:48, 28 May 2023 (UTC)

Your ping

Deadman, can you tell me how you came up with the list of editors you invited in this edit? Dicklyon (talk) 04:37, 28 May 2023 (UTC)

I hope you had a pleasant Memorial Day weekend. Now that you're back, I'd appreciate hearing how you selected this list of editors to ping. Dicklyon (talk) 02:43, 30 May 2023 (UTC)

Sorry, I should have at least waited until after the game ended. Dicklyon (talk) 03:38, 30 May 2023 (UTC)

Since you haven't said otherwise, I'll assume you combed the archives for people who have complained about me. Don't do such things. Dicklyon (talk) 03:17, 6 June 2023 (UTC)

Conn Smythe

Sorry to interrupt your intense hockey-watching, but who the heck is going to win the Conn Smythe if Vegas wins? The last three years have been easy picks. This year it seems like it's a three-way tie between Stone, Eichel, and Marchessault. Have you heard any rumblings on who it could be? Conyo14 (talk) 00:58, 14 June 2023 (UTC)

@Conyo14: Haven't heard anything much different than you have. Deadman137 (talk) 01:39, 14 June 2023 (UTC)

Well, the time has come. I'm not sure if you're taking a long break or something, but if you aren't around by the time they start, I shall ask the project for assistance. Conyo14 (talk) 05:09, 27 March 2024 (UTC)

@Conyo14: I wasn't planning on being gone for as long as I have been. I was working on some side projects and was planning on being back at the beginning of March and then I came down with a bad bug which put me down for a few weeks. Other than that I'm back and I have a lot of work to do. Deadman137 (talk) 17:53, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
Hopefully things don't get too hectic, we've got plenty of good users to help out. Conyo14 (talk) 19:08, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
It always gets hectic that's what comes with the territory. We have some good people, but a lot of them are green and it shows. Deadman137 (talk) 20:16, 27 March 2024 (UTC)

2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs TV Schedule

So I was on the NHL Website and I found out that TruTV will be simulcasting both Game 1s this Saturday. However, I actually cannot edit the page as it is semi-protected, so if you can add them before Saturday, that would be great. Also, because of Islanders–Hurricanes (Assuming if it will be the whole series) being aired on CBC, it looks like we might be getting five series altogether on CBC in the First Round. If that is the case, then here is what the commentator structure would look like:

Maple Leafs–Bruins: Chris Cuthbert, Craig Simpson, Kyle Bukauskas

Islanders–Hurricanes: John Bartlett, Garry Galley, Sean Reynolds

Avalanche–Jets: Rick Ball, Greg Millen, Caroline Cameron

Predators–Canucks: John Shorthouse, Dave Tomlinson, Dan Murphy

Golden Knights/Kings–Oilers: Harnarayan Singh, Louie DeBrusk, Scott Oake

That would be two series in the east and three series in the west, which means CBC might have to do a triple header on alternating days, which means either ESPN on TNT will also have to do a triple header on alternating days in the USA (subject to change). That's all I have for now. I'll let you know if anything else comes up. Hopes this helps. 2601:647:4300:2D0:202D:EC63:426A:D873 (talk) 04:15, 18 April 2024 (UTC)

All the broadcast information should be up by tomorrow night or Friday morning as we'll probably get two schedules based on where LA and Vegas finish sometime tomorrow. As far as what is happening with CBC and how they will handle three western Canadian teams in the playoffs I have no idea. I will assume that Toronto will likely have all of their games on CBC because that's what normally happens.
I don't usually handle the broadcasting section outside of proofreading it, but what you listed for the broadcasting groups seems probable with the other series being simulcast in Canada. On the American end I'm not sure which series they'll cover or simulcast. Deadman137 (talk) 04:37, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
