I'm composing an article in my Sandbox which is almost ready for posting. I'm struggling with how to insert a graphic such as a photo or a logo for an organization. Can someone give me some simple directions on how to do this? Thanks, Dee BaronDee Baron (talk) 14:57, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated your article for deletion, as I don't think it's quite ready yet. We can still work on this at your user page. To answer your question:
  • is the syntax you want.
Also, there are a number of problems in your article:
  • No intro section
  • no links to other articles
  • Lack of sources
  • No categories
Please let me know if I can help. — Timneu22 · talk 14:15, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I sure would like some help. I'm not sure what should be included in the an "intro" section that I have not already discussed in the main section of the article.

Regarding links, we are planning to add some other articles that would like to this one, specifically oral history topics that have been discussed in interviews recorded by the Maria Rogers Oral History Project, such as the Rocky Flats nuclear plant. I think an article on the plant already exists in Wikipedia and I could like to that.

I'm not sure what you mean by lack of sources. There are sources listed.
Same for categories? There are categories in the article.
Please don't delete this article. Help me to fix it!!

There was no intro at all. I fixed that on your user page. I'll address the other concerns shortly. I think we need to get the article working here first; it doesn't really matter if the main article is deleted. We'll just add it later after we get this right. — Timneu22 · talk 14:23, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Addressing the concerns:

  1. There are no in-line citations. This is usually done using the tags. In most valid articles, just about every sentence has a citation. This article doesn't have any. For example, it was started in 1976... can we get a reference for that? And more:
    • More than 1,650 interviews
    • Some interviews are donated
    • The types of issues
  2. Categories are placed at the bottom of the article, like this: . You don't have any. I'm not sure which categories are relevant here. Do categories exist for Boulder County, Audio collections, or some other seemingly relevant grouping? Which categories would you provide for this article? Maybe if you can tell me that, I can see what categories exist.
    • (Update, found some): Appropriate categories are:
      • Oral History
      • Boulder County, Colorado

I think that's all for now. — Timneu22 · talk 14:29, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I moved your user page to the main namespace, as it seems you are intent on editing that page. Please address some of these issues to make the article better. Also, where did you want to add an image, and which image? — Timneu22 · talk 14:49, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, whoever you are -- do you have a name? Mine is Dee. I'm working on the citations, I'm not sure when I'll get them together -- in the next day or two. Also I'm looking for jpg images of the Maria Rogers Oral History Program (MROHP) logo and an image of Maria Rogers that I would like to include in the article. The logo would be at the top to the right of the program name and the photo of Maria Rogers would be in the section that talks about her as the namesake of the program. I can work on adding the categories -- I think the "Oral History" and "Boulder County, Colorado" are most appropriate. We might have some others that relate to the Special Collections, such as "city planning," "voices of Black women" etc. Thanks again for your help. Dee BaronDee Baron (talk)

Inserting a graphic or photo into an article[edit]

Sorry to bother you all but I still need help with inserting a photo or graphic into an article. In a previous talk I was instructed to use the syntax but I also need to know how to get a jpg into Wiki so that I can insert it into the line "SomeFileName.png" above. Can someone help me with this? Thanks, Dee BaronDee Baron (talk) 14:22, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
