History Section of tulu language page vandalised by UserUser:C21K[edit]

  • The section is as follows

In an ancient greek text titled the Charition mime(200 B.C.) which contains a play about greek sailors and their adventures in coastal parts of what is present day Indian state of karnataka, the Indian characters are seen speaking a language diffrent from greek.many scholars tried to identify the language.Noted German Indologist Dr. E.Hultzsch claimed that it was some ancient dravidian language that was spoken in those times.Studies conducted by Indian linguist like P.S.Rai[1] identified the language as Tulu. This finding was also affirmed by Central Institute of Indian Languages[2] as also Edith Hall,A research professor at University of London[3]. Also the Halmidi inscriptions makes mentions of the Tuluve people and their culture[4].There is also a Tamil poem written during the Sangam age that makes mention of the tulu land and its people[5].It also widely beleived that the Satyaputra kingdom mentioned in Ashokan edicts as one of the four kingdoms out of his rule is the Alva Kheda/Tulu Nadu region.[6]Attagirl (talk) 14:40, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Deleting Comments[edit]

Dear Deepak thanks for your comments on the deletion page. Its not only the matter of producing Ph.D but ones contributions in various areas. My Ph.D scholars have found employment in the USA based upon the quality of the research done by them. Its easy for you to comment without knowing facts. My books are marketed internationally and have been published by top publishers of India. I have works in diverse areas from scale construction to research and writing. Maybe I do not deserve a page on wikipedia today but tomorrow I will surely be there with the strength of my work. Thanks for motivating me to achieve this goal one day. Mass Cremations in India[edit]

Hello. You recently submitted my article on Mass cremations in India for speedy deletion and was wondering if you would mind clarifying your reasons for the deletion, especially regarding the number of Google hits the article has received. Could you also be more specific about what you are actually disputing about the article? I have reviewed the Wikipedia guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article as well as the criteria for a speedy deletion and do not think that this article meets the criteria, or falls outside of the appropriate article guidelines. Additionally, if you look at the history for the page, another uses has also commented that this article does not meet the speedy deletion criteria. Any information on why you think this article needs to be deleted or perhaps edited would be very helpful. Thank you Franchesca786 (talk) 20:41, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi deepak,my motive was not adversting rather to make people know about kanpur and kakadeo and coachings here. What can be done to improve this article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Urprakhar (talkcontribs) 07:07, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Good, Write about the locality. A brief history about it . Why is this locality named Kakadeo. Anything that this locality is famous for. Any famous people living in or born in this locality? Any tourist locations? This is the kind of information that people look for in an encyclopedia article. Not for coaching classes . Take a look at this article Ameerpet. Ameerpet is the hub of private education in Hyderabad. Yet it does not look like an advertisement. Try to mould your article on the same. Go through the links in the welcome message. Good Luck! --Deepak D'Souza 09:26, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Excuse me, Ms. Deepak D'Souza (दीपक डी’सोज़ा / ದೀಪಕ್ ಡೀ’ಸೊಜಾ). Actually, it was my first DYK. I really don't understand the rules. Furthermore, the guy directed 36 films. That is incredible. Just thought that could be nice. Don't take it too hard. BTW, the ten roles by Kamal Haasan is also good. Actually, I was expecting someone to send me message. But, it was you. When I saw your username, that reminds me Genelia D'Souza. You know ....... D'Souza. Great to meet you, World Cinema Writer (talkcontributions) 13:32, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

about Konkani alphabet[edit]

Such a alphabet no one uses in Goa,so its of no use following scholar's work when those scholors do not know Konkani and its education system at all,may be u can include a standard alphabet taught in schools, which most of the people follow and not the IPA thing, which just does work of standardization without knowing the reality, people in Goa will not understand if we write ज़ instead of ज ,symbols like ॉ ,ॅ are used only to write English or Portuguese words in Konkani,eg.बॅंक ऑफ इंडिया , but when we write Konkani words like soro(liquor),fov(poha),we do not write it as सॉरॉ and फॉव but we write it as सोरो and फोंव,similarly ऋ is used to write Sanskrit words like ऋचा,but prakrit konkani words like reen(loan) is written रीण as and not ऋण .

I am sorry but your stand that "scholars do not know Konkani" makes no sense. How can a person be called a scholar if he has no knowledge of the subject? The IPA chart that I constrcuted was based on "A description of Konkani" by Fr. Matthew Almeida of the Thomas Stephens Konknni Kendr, a native Konkani speaker himself with a PhD in linguistics from Michigan Univ. It is a well researched book based on the principles of linguistics. The Extended Devanagari charachetrs in the alphabet chart are for reference only. By no means does the chart suggest that they are a standerdized alphabet set. That is why there are two columns for Devanagiri characthers in the table. ऋ may be a part of the devangari alphabet but the syllable itself is not used in Konkani. Hope that helps. --Deepak D'Souza 08:37, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for catching that. I suspected that there was an article for that film but I couldn't figure out what it would be. Do you think that "Kambyat ishk" would be a reasonable redirect term? ... discospinster talk 12:55, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind, someone's already redirected it. ... discospinster talk 15:37, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your message. I did consider redirection first, but it would not be appropriate in this case since the article name is totally incorrect and there are no articles linking to it. For instance Kambaqht Ishq would be a good redirect as it is the correct Urdu-to-Roman translation of the film name. Anway, no problems. --Deepak D'Souza 05:02, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Marathi language[edit]

Hello, I see that some days ago you reverted some edits made by 125.22.243.174. They have done more edits (OR & POV pushing really) on this article and I've tried to fix it; as I'm a lowly anon/IP editor I don't have any tools to keep watch/revert easily, could you keep an eye on the article and that IP editor please? I noticed them because they did a lot of sanitizing on Bal Thackeray, along with another IP 202.122.20.254. Thanks! --78.86.25.78 (talk) 05:08, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Goykanadi is not Kannada script ,its different Kannada script! do some research first!

Thank you for your message. Since you have been here for some time , I'd expect that you have some understanding of the ettiquete needed between Wikipedians and trust that you will not arrogantly order people to this or that. Let me assure you that I have read quite a lot of reliable and unreliable sources on Konkani language and posses quite a few authoritve books on Konkani . None of thee mention any Script call Goykanadi. It is the Kannada script, the phonemics may differe but not the script itself. --Deepak D'Souza 03:25, 19 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Goykanadi again[edit]

Deepak, you don't seem to be from Goa, then how come you are saying Goykanadi is Kannada script?I have seen how Goykanadi looks like....its mixture of Devanagari and Kannada, may be Halekannada. Kannada isn't written below a line with all the matras above the lines, and ukars below the line,Goykanadi is written in that way... you should do some more research!! and don't simply keep deleting stuff others write!

Again! Please sign your messages! we have very few Goan editors around it would be good if you take some time to learn how to edit and collaborate with others on wikipedia. Please learn how to talk to other editors: Dont order people around saying "You should do some research". You are pretty new here and you still have a lot to learn, starting with WIkipedia Etiquette.
Another thing that you need to know is that it doesnt matter whther you are from Goa or not to edit a Goa related article. At Wikipedia, credentials are irrelevant!. It doesnt matter who you are or where you come from or what degrees you posses because Wikipedia is based on relaible, verifyable sources.
I did search on the internet before reverting your edits.
The only researcher who seems to use the term is Gajanan Ghantkar. No other major researcher has used this term. And the full title of the book acc to this source [1] is An intorduction to Goan Marathi records in halakannada script. It says Marathi, not Konkani; also "halaKannada" or halekannada means "old Kannada". No other researcher has used the same term. You may go through the refs in the Konkani language article and see if any of them mention Goykanadi. Apparently no one else agrees(except for T. R DeSouza who is the only person who quotes from Ghantkar's book) That is why I had to delete it. Please feel free to continue this discussion on at the Konkani language talk page. --Deepak D'Souza 15:38, 27 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Marathi or Konkani[edit]

Most of the people say its Marathi, very few say its Konkani, but the inscriptions say things like:

  • Ravala Seti baraha(writing of Ravala Seti)
  • Soma Seti Chelo Ravala(Soma Seti's son Ravala)
  1. These letters are found in our(My family,Karekar family from Gaunsavado,Mapusa Goa,and this Ravala Seti is our ancestor)and are not in any archives.
  2. words like, baraha(writing),chelo(son),putu(son),rayu(king),taru(ship),are mentioned in these letters which are not used at all in Marathi.
  3. The script is not Halekannada either.(I myself know to read and write Kannada well)
  4. 50% of people in Goa still are biased and say that Konkani is a dialect of Marathi.

GoG[edit]

I know that this user's soapboxing has being going too long, but I think the best way to deal with him is simply to ignore him. He seems to be on wikipedia solely to debate his pet conspiracy theories and not really improve articles (given that he has not even tried to expand any related mainspace content). So each time we reply to his provocations, it only encourages him and perhaps keep him around longer. Lets see if he gets bored if we refuse to fall for his baits. Cheers. I am merely asking anyone knowledgable about Goa for references and what those references say. You will note that I have not insisted on anything about Goa.

Your revert[edit]

Deepak your edit has been reverted because it had the effect of removing referenced material from the article, which is contrary to Wikipedia's policy. In addition SBC's edits had the following flaws which I have cut and pasted from the talk page of akbar article. If you want to contribute please develop consensus on the talk page and do not revert.

You are confusing the article by adding factally incorrect information and by adding things in sections which they don't belong to. Please refrain from doing so until you develop a consensus here. Just to cite couple of examples:
  • No logic in removing Maharana Pratap's reaction to marriages of rajput women from the Rajput wives of Akbar section.
  • 30,000 rajputs were not present in the fortress of chittor, instead they were unarmed peasants.
I am reverting it to my last save. Please add your suggestions here so other editors can mull over them.

Telangana[edit]

I undid your change in Telangana regarding SRC report. I think final conclusions of SRC report important for readers and it should be included in the document; without that statement in the article people will never understand the Telangana movement or its historical background. 06:09, 16 December 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ramcrk (talkcontribs)

I misunderstood you. I did not realize you were removing the para(s) related Telangana objections to merger. Those statements gives wiki reader an understanding about the oppostion of Telanganites to the merger and why there was a need for Gentleman's agreement. If you agree we can include those para(s) back. Also, we should include that Central govt ignored SRC recemendations. I made appropriate changes.
