Demoscho, thanks for leaving me a message about your site. I realize you're trying to provide a resource for people, but Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a place to promote new ideas or services. If your site becomes a well respected search engine in libertarian circles, then we would welcome it on the articles. Places linked to in the external links section should be resources that are already well respected. Without any provenance for the site it was not possible to tell whether it was from a well respected source or not, now that we know it is a site put together by a person with an interest, but no current reputation, in the field, we need to say it's not a well respected enough source yet. Also, adding links to your own sites is generally problematic, and very discouraged. If you want to do it again in the future, please instead leave a message on the talk page of the article in question asking other editors to look at the link and add it if they feel it is appropriate. For more information on what are appropriate external links you can check out our external link guidelines.

I hope this doesn't put you off editing Wikipedia. We can always use more good editors, and your knowledge of libertarian sources could be a lot of use on many of the politics articles. --Siobhan Hansa 13:47, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PS. I moved your message to the bottom of my talk page and added an unsigned tag (see here) - it is customary to put messages about a new topic (rather than responses to a conversation you are already having with someone) at the bottom of the page; and we have a policy that editors should "sign" their messages (on talk pages - not articles) by putting four tildes (~~~~) at the end of them. This leaves a time stamp and your username so people can easily see who left the message. --Siobhan Hansa 13:50, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi SiobhanHansa,

Thanks for your thoughtful response. I am not very familiar with editing wikipedia, and it's nice to hear about the nuts and bolts. I am confident that the search engine I've made meets high standards, but you're right: I should put it to the test first. I'll contact some libertarian organizations and institutes and see how they like it. Once the ball is rolling, someone may put it up here. I'll refrain from editing websites without prior notice from now on :-)

All the best!
