License tagging for Image:Stopp.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Stopp.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 18:08, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

Would you please explain your comments on the talk page? Miss Mondegreen talk  21:43, June 13 2007 (UTC)

Also, please note that the article is being considered for deletion. Miss Mondegreen talk  21:54, June 13 2007 (UTC)

Well WSTA has been deleted from Wikipedia and I am reliably informed that this is not due to a prejudice against trade unions, just a feeling they are not noteworthy.

Derek McMillan 15:21, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on West Sussex Teachers' Association, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. TerriersFan 01:34, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Civility

[edit]

Please keep your comments civil and constructive in nature. Comments such as this regarding the deletion of an article run counter to WP:CIVIL and WP:NPA and are strongly discouraged in a collaborative working environment such as Wikipedia. (aeropagitica) 21:59, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of Interest

[edit]

You should wait for others to write an article about subjects in which you are personally involved, as you did at West sussex teachers' association. This applies to articles about you, your achievements, your business, your publications, your website, your relatives, and any other possible conflict of interest.

Creating an article about yourself is strongly discouraged. If you create such an article, it might be listed on articles for deletion. Deletion is not certain, but many feel strongly that you should not start articles about yourself. This is because independent creation encourages independent validation of both significance and verifiability. All edits to articles must conform to Wikipedia:No original research, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, and Wikipedia:Verifiability.

If you are not "notable" under Wikipedia guidelines, creating an article about yourself may violate the policy that Wikipedia is not a personal webspace provider and would thus qualify for speedy deletion. If your achievements, etc., are verifiable and genuinely notable, and thus suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. (See Wikipedia:Wikipedians with articles.) Thank you. --Butseriouslyfolks 22:11, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Of course that would mean that the only people who could write about WSTA would be people who are not members of WSTA. Derek McMillan 15:21, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's the preferred approach. --Butseriouslyfolks 22:01, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please remain civil in your comments and refrain from accusing editors of bigotry and anti-unionism as you did here. I deleted the article as it was a near-identical recreation of the previously deleted article. The three sources you provided included a Wikipedia mirror and two directory-level entries that did not give any significant information about the trade union. In general, it is advisable that you not edit articles about subjects with which you are involved (please see the conflict of interest guideline). -- Black Falcon (Talk) 01:55, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
