Reliable sources

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. However, please do not use unreliable sources such as blogs, your own website, websites and publications with a poor reputation for checking the facts or with no editorial oversight, expressing views that are widely acknowledged as extremist, that are promotional in nature, or that rely heavily on rumors and personal opinions, as one of Wikipedia's core policies is that contributions must be verifiable through reliable sources, preferably using inline citations. If you require further assistance, please look at Help:Contents/Editing Wikipedia, or ask at the Teahouse. Thank you. OhNoitsJamie Talk 22:27, 8 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. The page was basically vandalized and I was making a note of it. is this not the place to note this? 97.113.131.154 (talk) 22:30, 8 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The vandalism has been removed. The warning above is because you added a bunch of content that was not supported by sources that meet our reliable sources guidelines (in this case, a blog). OhNoitsJamie Talk 22:41, 8 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for calling that to my attention. I'm aware of that now and still learning.

again, thank you. 97.113.131.154 (talk) 22:42, 8 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the "fan" you've described; I've revision-deleted the edit from this IP to the page; we're pretty strict about our biographies of living persons policy, so it's appropriate to strike something like that from the page history and block/page protect more quickly. As I noted at the teahouse, I've put a partial block on that IP that will prevent them from editing the Christina Z page for 6 months, but if similar vandalism resumes from a different IP, or that user makes similar edits to different pages, you can report it to the BLP noticeboard, or even message me directly on my talk page. I've added a "welcome" template above that has lots of useful policy and editing links. Cheers, OhNoitsJamie Talk 22:59, 8 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

i appreciate it. Everyone is trying to stay level headed in this and your help is a big relief. Cheers. 97.113.131.154 (talk) 23:03, 8 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please remember to login when you post

[edit]

Hello, I noticed that you may have recently made edits while logged out. Wikipedia's policy on multiple accounts usually does not allow the use of both an account and an IP address by the same person in the same setting and doing so may result in your account being blocked from editing. Additionally, making edits while logged out reveals your IP address, which may allow others to determine your location and identity. If this was not your intention, please remember to log in when editing. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:34, 9 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't be concerned about the above template; it's just a bolilerplate template that I added for informational purposes. Please do, however, take a look at WP:LOGGEDOUT for more details because it's generally a really good idea to try and remember to log in to your account when you post. Wikipedia has been set up in a way that a record be kept of all the edits made to a page in the page's history; so, if you've got WP:REALWORLD concerns about someone seeing your IP address and somehow misusing that information, then ask for help at WP:RFO. The information will still be able there to be seen by Wikipedia oversighters and in some cases Wikipedia administrators as needed, but it won't be visible to the general public.
Finally, if after reading the above you want to remove it from your user talk page, you can do so per WP:BLANKING. You're not required to post a response to it and simply removing it will be interpreted as you read the post and understood what it means. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:52, 9 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
