Beginning in the sixties, the one liner program was typed input to the command line of an operating computer system terminal so that the one line command performs some useful function in a single one line of terminal input. Some of the original one liner commands were limited to a 60 character display on especially the early Basic terminals or to a 72 characters on the Fortran punched cards. Of course, the hit return to send, terminal flashing bulbs, and automatic answer back were silently understood as part or supporting the one liner program. Some of the line lengths in some computer languages were later extended to 410 lines and so on. The definition and use of the one liner program has been widened to include program source for any language that does something useful in one line. On batch programs, controlling and setting variable statements like RETURN, STOP, END, extra terminal prompts, and setting initial variables were used in Fortran systems. Of course, a very good feature of TCL is that new variables as number types do not have to be initialized prior to use and no subroutine RETURN and END statements are necessary, vis the older Fortran and Basic dogmas in moldy textbooks. Repeating, setting a new number variable to 0 or 1 is not necessary prior to using the variable. Since a partial and practical goal of computer programming is to produce human readable code, it is permissible on the published console batch programs here to retain some vestigial stages to aid human comprehension.

Be careful about copyrights - Tcl/Tk license appears to be incompatible with the license Wikipedia uses[edit]

I will be removing material from One-liner program which is copied from https://wiki.tcl-lang.org/ due to licensing issues. I hope I am wrong and that the material can be restored, but I am not optimistic. Please see the discussion at Wikipedia talk:Copyrights#How do we handle items published under the Tcl/Tk License?.

Until this is resolved, I would encourage you to remove the paragraph at the top of your user page which is copied from that site. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 23:05, 26 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Update Additional information on how you can help solve this issue once and for all AND restore the material to Wikipedia is at Talk:One-liner program#Information copied from https://wiki.tcl-lang.org/. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 23:17, 26 September 2020 (UTC)Under[reply]

suggest we remove my work in wiki content >>> until and if << i can get agreement-DeWi7 I might point out that Wiki Books Tcl Programming by Richard Suchenwirth has some material that was originally posted and still on TCL Wiki,DeWi7 https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Tcl_Programming

If i can not quote my work on the TCL Wiki, may I presume to quote Wiki Books Tcl Programming by Richard Suchenwirth and the license on wiki books. My understanding is that the TCL/TK copyright is intended to retain editorial control rights , and I do not disagree with that. As understood here, referencing the TCL/TK copyright pertains to legal notice maintaining the copyright as required by US law. But possibly the Wikipedia has other copyright features.
David Eppstein may be correct in his drawing a parallel between the way we handle CC-BY-SA images and the requirements of the Tcl/Tk license but I respectfully disagree. On the other hand, I don't think either of us are lawyers. I'm not.
Fortunately, it may not matter: With respect to your own creative content hosted on that other web site, all you need to do is go to that web site and declare that the work you are copying is also released under the Wikipedia:Text of the GNU Free Documentation License and the Wikipedia:Text of Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License in addition to the license or licenses it is already licensed under. That way, you can put it here without having to worry about the hard-to-comply-with details of the TCL/TK license.
Material from WikiBooks uploaded prior to July 15, 2009, as is the case with this 2005 version (the last version before the page was "split"), is probably okay based on Wikipedia:Licensing_update#Media files.
Any material you copied from a book or from somewhere else that was not in a Wikimedia Foundation project prior to July 15, 2009, can only be copied here if the original was released under a compatible license.
I hope this helps. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 19:32, 28 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

11Jul2021, Message to Middle Eastern Linguist(s) and museum curators on clay tablets. Have made replica clay tokens and published computer programs using the Sumerian math algorithms on clay tablets. Can contribute some clay token replicas to your museum, if interested???? Some ancient and historic algorithms were loaded into the TCLLIB library for the Tool Control Language (TCL). 11Jul2021

Under Titius_Bode , Wikipedia page. I have programmed the Titius_Bode equation into a Tool Control language TCL program and very interested in modeling Titius_Bode like calculations also. I have run the JPl data trough and automatic curve fitter. Maybe there is a contact interested in working on this item? Thank you. Dewi7 Ps. The TCL WIKI editor is locking, so I have more material than evident. Talk page formatting[edit]

I think you should really look up how to use talk pages. This one and the one I'm coming from (Talk:Collatz_conjecture) are really messy and completely unreadable. This is not how you use talk pages. PLEASE, look it up. Also, they exist to talk about the contents of the article, not to find research partners (if I'm understanding your texts correctly) Fynsta (talk) 15:16, 17 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
