'Deshashta Brahmin' and 'List of Deshastha Brahmin Surnames'

[edit]

1. There is a huge section giving a long List of Deshashta Brahmin Surnames in the page (first page) 'Deshastha Brahmin'.

2. This list is almost entirely repeated in the page (second page) 'List of Deshastha Brahmin Surnames'.

3. It is my suggestion that the list from the (first page) be cut and pasted in the (second page), thus rendering simultaneously editing two pages for the same contents and same changes unnecessary.

4. There should be a link provided in the (first page) to the (second page) so those desirous of finding surnames (and gotra, kuladaivata, and original village) can visit that page.

5. The (second page) may also provide a link to the (first page) for additional information pertaining to the subject of 'Deshastha Brahmin'.

'Deshashta Brahmin' and 'List of Deshastha Brahmin Surnames'

[edit]

Yes, I did that three years ago by creating a separate page just for the surnames.Unfortunately, someone thought that information was not important for an encyclopedia and nominated it for deletion. Fortunately, it was not deleted but moved to the wiktionery section which is not easily accessible. That is when I brought the table back to the original deshastha article. Well, someone similar to you again thought that creating a separate page for the surnames will be a good idea. I oppose it because of what happened three years ago. I believe this table is a great treasure of information and to avoid the fate of the earlier one let's keep things simple and have the list with the main Deshastha article. Thanks.--74.9.96.122 (talk) 13:55, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
