Speedy deletion of Wikiid

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Wikiid, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. // Chris (complaints)(contribs) 23:27, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article Wikiid has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. . Nice try. NawlinWiki (talk) 23:28, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • The article itself stated that it was a lighthearted attempt to evade Wikipedia's notability requirements. Hence the lighthearted reply "Nice try". Now, since you're so good at writing articles, why don't you try to make some serious contributions? NawlinWiki (talk) 23:33, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
    • The speedy delete wasn't for nonsense. It was under category a7, webcontent with no credible assertion of notability. The page was (admittedly) just created, and cited no external sources to show its notability. See WP:V. There have been many attempts to use Wikipedia to bootstrap something nonnotable into something notable. They all get deleted. But again, full marks for effort. • Claims of notability have to be at least facially credible. Otherwise, we'd have to have a deletion debate on every article of the order "Joe Schmo is 17 years old and is the dictator of the world." We get dozens of those every day. In this case, it's not credible to say that webcontent that was created minutes ago is notable. And even for a Wikipedia article, it's impermissible to have an article on a topic that the author hopes will become notable (presumably, through self-promotion including the fact that there's a Wikipedia article on the topic). Third, Wikipedia is not a reliable source per WP:RS, and your article cited no other sources. Finally, I will post the deleted content to your userspace *if* you promise not to repost it in the main article space. NawlinWiki (talk) 23:49, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
